Via Politico, The Scranton Times reports another threat against Barack Obama at a Sarah Palin rally Tuesday:

Chris Hackett addressed the increasingly feisty crowd as they await the arrival of Gov. Palin.

Each time the Republican candidate for the seat in the 10th Congressional District mentioned Barack Obama the crowd booed loudly.

One man screamed "kill him!"

At previous rallies, McCain-Palin supporters have shouted "Kill Him!" as well as "Treason!" "Terrorist!" and "Off With His Head!"

The latest violent call came on the same day that Brave New Films has come out with a compilation of these moments, urging supporters to "tell John McCain to end the politics of hate."

The worst thing about conservative opinions are the people who have them.

Off topic: Hey EVERYBODY! Today I voted early. I have to tell you as an AA, I could not believe how emotional it was for me to see and touch-screen the names Obama/Biden for POTUS/VP. After my vote, me and a friend who went together, both stood there afterwards, outside of the polling place, we HUGGED and WE CRIED! I was not expecting to get so emotional. I thought I would share this story with you. So PLEASE if you can vote early, do so.

thanks for sharing that. Being white, I can't imagine how that must have felt for you, but it's obviously been long overdue for you to have that experience.

I like hugging touchy feeling stories. I'll remember to take my tissue box with me and I'm not even AA but he has earned this presidency and besides I cry easily.

Dear Senator Grassley,
I am a transplanted Iowan, having moved here 11 years ago. Thank you for your outstanding service to all of us in Iowa.

In full disclosure I am a supporter of Senator Barack Obama. I was a caucus co-precinct captain here in and have revived my duties for the general election.

I have never written previously but feel compelled to do so following the turn of events in Senator McCain's campaign. An audience at Senator McCain's event loudly called Senator Obama a terrorist. Governor Palin incited an audience by stating that Senator Obama pals around with a terrorist. The crowd reaction of "boo" is normal--but then someone in the crowd yells "Kill him!" A chilling outburst that deserved a rebuke but was left unchallenged.

Senator Grassley, I urge you as a highly regarded and respected member of your party to contact Senator McCain and tell him that there is no place in this campaign--or ever!--for fear mongering or for hate mongering. Dismissing hideous, hateful comments as if they aren't being heard is utterly despicable.

Both campaigns have passionate supporters but when audiences yell out "terrorist" or "kill him", I don't care which party it is--the messages coming from that particular camp are responsible for creating that appalling, despicable environment.

Senator Grassley, contact Senator McCain and inform him that his scare tactics are not what Iowans want to hear and are truly appalling.

Why is the secret service not questioning these people? They are making threats not only to a US Senator, but a Presidential nominee.

I think the government needs to get involved.

Write your GOP legislators: state and U.S. Congress. We may not share the same party with them but we ARE their constituents. Let them know that the behavior being condoned at McCain-Palin rallies are not only despicable as Obama supporters, but as Americans. We many not get responses but imagine the effect if we ALL wrote--you can bet they'd be talking amongst themselves, even if they don't reply to us.

I am white, Christian and not that young and I am pro Obama all the way.

My fear is that all this hate and racisim by the right-wingnuts out there will spread the fallacy that all Christians are ignorant sheep. Sadly, too many believe exactly what they're told, which is why they look for a "daddy" figure in a leader.

But there are also many of us who are intelligent, independent thinkers, who actually follow Christ's doctrine of love and tolerance.

Some will make that generalization, but most of us know that "Christian" does not equal "kook", regardless of the many examples that would suggest otherwise.

Kind of like the way that all the imperialism and genocide spreads the fallacy throughout the rest of the world that all Americans are homicidal maniacs and thieves.

The problem with both America and Xianity is that they both REALLY DO represent the basest actions of their proponents and the veneer of goodness was just that, a false front for the evil nastiness they ACTUALLY represent.

Neither America nor Xianity are forces for good in the world, and the sooner we accept that and force REAL CHANGE, the sooner we will protect our own as ses as people who believe in good.

You nailed it Oregon_Ivy. I'm voting for McCain and have explained the same thing. But maybe hearing from a pro Obama Christian will be more effective. The Christians I know are far from the stereo type that some people hear about. Instead of arguing, I simply ask them to read the Bible if they haven't already done so. Then he/she will understand what the Lord wants from us and realize it is not what some people say, but what the Bible says. In my opinion, not reading the Bible and criticizing it is the same as voting with out researching the candidates. There's really no point if you don't know.

Selective hearing.

So, since it's just a handful of people that respond to the demagoguery spewed by your candidate, it is OK to keep pushing the politics of hate.

Nice candidate you've got there.

Why does Palin not speak up each time this happens? I watched Obama handle the crowd at his rally and he put a stop to the booing -- immediately.

Why is there nothing done to arrest these people and prosecute them for threatening a presidential candidate?

These people disgust me. And I'm not just talking about the people in the crowds.

This has just got to stop. This is not American Idol or some reality show. What kind of person works the mob into a frenzy, blissfully unconcerned about the consequences? If heaven forbid, something happens to Obama as a result of these hate rallies, then Sarah Palin should shoulder a big part of the responsibility. But she wouldn't. I resent McCain for bringing this woman out of obscurity and giving her a platform for her ignorance and vile attacks.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:00 PM on 10/14/2008

These young people who are doing this are naive to the underlying force with which these emotions can erupt. It will only take one kook to carry out a deplorable deed, then there's retaliation, and then the U.S. has a BIG BIG problem. The fact that McCain does not see this and is not stopping this, or that Palin continues to be encouraged to continue to stir things up tells me the depressing truth - that this presidency is worth ANY cost to McCain and his thugs. And who does he think is going to take the ultimate responsibility when this thing possibly blows up? He will. There will be a groundswell of hostility towards HIM. This would get very ugly if he doesn't stand up now for what's right for America and re-direct this campaign to legitimate campaign issues.
