The Anchorage Daily News reports:

The state Personnel Board investigation of Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of Walt Monegan has broadened to include other ethics complaints against the governor and examination of actions by other state employees, according to the independent counsel handling the case.

The investigator, Tim Petumenos, did not say who else is under scrutiny. But in two recent letters describing his inquiry, he cited the consolidation of complaints and the involvement of other officials as a reason for not going along with Palin's request to make the examination of her activities more public.

Newsweek reported on Saturday that the Personnel Board probe, which both the McCain campaign and critics expected would be more favorable to Palin, hasn't turned out that way:

McCain campaign spokeswoman Meg Stapleton dismissed the report as the product of "a partisan-led inquiry run by Obama supporters." But there could be more land mines ahead. Some weeks ago, the McCain team devised a plan to have Palin file an ethics complaint against herself with the State Personnel Board, arguing that it alone was capable of conducting a fair, nonpartisan inquiry into whether she fired Monegan because he refused to fire Wooten, who had been involved in a messy custody battle with her sister. Some Democrats ridiculed the move, noting that the personnel board answered to Palin. But the board ended up hiring an aggressive Anchorage trial lawyer, Timothy Petumenos, as an independent counsel. McCain aides were chagrined to discover that Petumenos was a Democrat who had contributed to Palin's 2006 opponent for governor, Tony Knowles. Palin is now scheduled to be questioned next week, and the counsel's report could be released soon after. "We took a gamble when we went to the personnel board," said a McCain aide who asked not to be identified discussing strategy. While the McCain camp still insists Palin "has nothing to hide," it acknowledges a critical finding by Petumenos would be even harder to dismiss.

On Tuesday, the Anchorage Daily News also printed a blistering editorial on Palin, calling her response to the State Legislature's Troopergate report "Orwellian."

Sarah Palin's reaction to the Legislature's Troopergate report is an embarrassment to Alaskans and the nation.

She claims the report "vindicates" her. She said that the investigation found "no unlawful or unethical activity on my part."

Her response is either astoundingly ignorant or downright Orwellian.

Page 8, Finding Number One of the report says: "I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act."

In plain English, she did something "unlawful." She broke the state ethics law.

Perhaps Gov. Palin has been too busy to actually read the Troopergate report. Perhaps she is relying on briefings from McCain campaign spinmeisters.

That's the charitable interpretation.

In my view it directly relates to the firing of the U.S. Attorneys.

Troopergate, that is. Not the video.

I am weeping right now. Probably the most powerful video I have seen. Children dying while Bush jokes about the weapons we didn't find. I am sick to my stomach that people around the world think we agree with that charlatan.

It is also coming out that she may have used the same contractors who build the famous hockey rink to build her house at exactly the same time....

I bet they gave her a pretty good deal on her private house, given the work they got to build the hockey rink.

Palin was voted into office in part as a negative vote against the incumbents who were corrupt. It appears that Palin herself is guilty of the same kinds of ethical violations of the previous Alaskan adminstration that she replaced.

I bet her approval rating in Alaska is plummeting.....

McCain did zero vetting on Palin... That is obvious.

If these kinds of things were going on with Joe Biden, the Republicans and press would probably be having a much larger field day...

Either McCain and his handlers vetted this woman, knew about her garbage and just didn't care because they figured no one would look into it....or they didn't bother to vet her at all.
They lawyered-up mighty quickly when this thing started to worm its way into the light of day. I mean BIG TIME lawyered-up. Air lifting attorneys and McCain staffers to Alaska, re-routing phone calls, shutting down and opening new e-mail accounts....
After Election Day, governor Palin will be released from the campaign to spend more time with her family...and her attorneys.
And *she'll* be the one "measuring the drapes"...for her jail cell.

Sing it with me...Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, ...Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah...hey, hey, hey...gooodbye!

Boy, she really messed up a god thing she had goin' up there...

Not only that, but if you check out Countown with Keith Olbermann's show online from last night, you will see that Failin's spankin new house was built by the same contractor as the $15 million Wasilla Hockey Rink. Seems lik she's taken a page from Uncle Ted Stevens book of how to get free stuff from your government contractor...same as the VECO contractor. She claims Todd and his friends built it....article is in the Village Voice

What a sad state our democracy is in when blatant denial of truth and facts regarding abuse of power/authority are accepted as a "good" quality in a candidate. Shame on some reps and her supporters to care so little about honesty and integrity for one who may hold the second highest office in our land. Do some not realize that in condoning said behavior, our society is opening the door to displace democracy and accepting regimes, juntas, etc. We already know that she wants to extend the powers of VP beyond the Constitution. We know that she condemns those who abuse their power in her speeches, yet proudly take a stance she has done no wrong. We know that she have no problem in allowing her husband to have full reign of her position as governor to carry forth his/her bidding.

Although, the media reports P@lin has gone off message again, I wonder if she really has gone off message or is this P@lin being P@lin. IMO, P@lin will do what she wants to do when she wants to do it with no regards for what Mcc and campaign say. One would have to be blind, deaf and dumb not to realize the kind of a leader she will be and what her ultimate goal is.

By the end of this election Palin is going to be probed more times than an alien abductee. And it's my guess the more she's probed the more unhealthy and nasty things they will find.

Palin first gained state-wide notoriety in Alaska by exposing ethics violations of others but now denies that she has done anything wrong by violating a similar or the very same specific ethics law in the state constitution. One can only wonder if the investigation of Palin's home described in this post will eventually expose more serious violations of her powers and/or under-the-table acceptance of "friendly gifts from friends." Perhaps Governor Palin, like Republican U.S. Senator Ted Stevens, will also end up in a criminal courtroom facing numerous felony charges related to the construction of the her home. Regardless, all of this reflects the very poor judgment of John McCain who chose this less than honest, ethics challenged woman as a running mate without first fully "vetting" all of the secrets in her rural closets!

A letter to Sarah Palin,

Sarah Palin, your time is up. Your looks will fade like the erosion of time. Then what will be left of you? You have not put your country first. You have not put Alaska first. You have put Sarah Palin first. The power that was given you by Alaskan voters has more than been abused. You sought to destroy the livelihood of a decent man because he would not participate in your quest for revenge. This was wrong. How can America trust you with 50 states if you can be trusted with one? You have allowed other politicians to direct your path for their own benefit. You should have decline the offer for VP because you know how your pride is. This would have been an honorable thing to do. Since you have accepted the nomination for VP, you have fallen from the ranks. America can now see who the real Sarah Palin is. After November, your fellow republicans will only toss you aside. Sarah Palin, your time is up. The power you now have will be taken away and given to one more worthy.

*** WATCH Sarah Palin admit that Obama’s message was “ RESONATING WELL ” with Alaskans.

This was right before she was picked as McCain’s VP!

She had no problems with Obama before being picked as VP.
