I Like ItI Don’t Like It

One thing all once-obscure Republican women seem to have in common: they all reach for blush and a spackle knife when the spotlight swings in their direction.

For example: reach into the caverns of your memories and dredge up Florida's notorious Katherine Harris, and all shall become clear.

It appears that Sarah Palin has been going to the same GOP-friendly cosmetologist. Do you think it's too much?

I can finally say something nice about Sarah -- she has nice teeth. Not like the teeth of people who can't afford insurance or dental care, but they are nice teeth. As we say in the backwoods in Alaska, "She sure cleans up real good!"

Anyway, what's the rumor about that if she has another son his name will be Zamboni Rifle Palin?

Let's not forget that these people all wear extra heavy make-up for the lightning and cameras that will wash you out.

I was a make-up artist in commercial advertising, I loved doing the news media and political events. But, there was never much for me to do because the "talent" was always camera ready when I arrived. Not one anchor person, govenor's wife, senator, or congress-person ever showed without being 100% ready. Contrary to what one might think they insist on looking authentic, like "themselves." For God's sake even Katie Couric showed up on set @ 5:00 a.m. ready to shoot!

I don't know the current day rate for artists from LA . (In my area it was $675. per 8 hour work day, time & a half for anything over, a per diem, and travel expenses) For clients that you disliked you would inflate the price by 2-3 times, like for the NRA. Maybe Gov. Palin's artist is doing the same, sticking it to the Gov!

I don't know what blush is, but I once saw Nancy Reagan way back in 1973 or 74 when Reagan was in NH declaring his candidacy. I have never seen a human being that looked more plastic. She really looked just like a little doll propped up next to Ronny. Every hair was in place her makeup was perfectly painted. I couldn't believe she wasn't a wax dummy. Reagan was in jeans with a dinner plate belt buckle, a western shirt and cowboy hat and this was in NH. Nancy looked like she belonged in a Macy's window all outfitted for a weekend in the country.

Oh, I can, it was in the tenderloin.

She must be preparing for that VP "flexibility in the position" and using "authority when necessary" LOL.

It is stage makeup. I actually think she looks fine. Though I think the blush is too orang-y. I think a pink bronze would suit her coloring better and still she wouldn't look washed out from a distance....but the cost is outrageous OUTRAGEOUS regardless who pays for it..

She's trying to look like she's a teenager. She's a bit old for that.

In English-speaking countries, we call that "Mutton dressed as lamb."

Pretty pathetic.

There was a time when Republicans valued dressing plainly and used it to seem to be more like the common people --

"But Pat and I have the satisfaction that every dime that we've got is honestly ours. I should say this, that Pat doesn't have a mink coat. But she does have a respectable Republican cloth coat, and I always tell her she'd look good in anything."

That was Nixon's 1952 "Checkers" speech.
Things are bad when Nixon seems like an improvement.

$150,000 could pay for about three years at Harvard (for someone other than her.) For clothes, makeup? Was Liza Do Little Palin, aka the beauty queen cum "Hockey Mom" so pedestrian that she couldn't past muster in the little proAmerican pockets and small towns of America?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:25 PM on 10/22/2008

Not surprisingly, it looks like stage makeup. It is not meant for seeing closer than 30 feet. It adds a nice touch of tackiness, to her new $150,000+ wardrobe, doncha think?

Yes it very much does look like stage make up for indoors under lights and at a distance. Why does she fear her age?

I would rather have a root canal than say anything positive about Palin, but without that heavy, stage make-up she would look washed out under lights while speaking to the 'hundreds' of brain dead people that go to her rallies.

Maybe it's my age but I can see the beauty in women that aren't beautiful, just like I see ugly when I look at Palin, after you live a while I think you appreciate what comes out of a persons mouth more than the lipstick she puts on it.
