WASHINGTON — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton puts the chances of her running for president again at near zero _ slightly higher than the chances she gives for becoming Senate majority leader or a Supreme Court justice.

In an interview aired Tuesday on "Fox & Friends" on the Fox News Channel, Clinton, D-N.Y., was asked the chances, on a scale of 1 to 10, that she would be the next majority leader in the Senate.

"Oh, probably zero," she said. "I'm not seeking any other position than to be the best senator from New York that I can be."

Being nominated to the Supreme Court?

"Zero," Clinton said. "I have no interest in doing that."

Running for president again?

"Probably close to zero," she said. "There's an old saying: Bloom where you're planted."

The former first lady, who was elected to the Senate in 2000 and re-elected in 2006, said she looked forward to working as a senator with a Barack Obama administration.

She's always had Absolutely Zero Chance of becoming president. If only she'd realized earlier.

It all worked out and it was good for Obama! I'm proud of her support for Obama!

British politicians always say this right before they run for the top job (or stab the leader in the back!) Class act? Yes. Given up on her ambitions yet? No way!

You can read minds, right?

Or are you just projecting the dark British heart onto a good American heart?

That means that she thinks that not only will Obama win, but that he will be re-elected.

I still would like to see her in there though. (After Obama of course).

12+ years of Democrats...

35 years experience???? What? Where? When?

I know. That always gets me going too. Being a wife is not political experience. I would not let my surgeons wife operate on me. Why she thinks sharing Bill's bed qualifies her is beyond reasoning. If that were the case.....

Yes, typical first lady experience should not be counted as political experience.

But, we know that Hillary was not a typical first lady. We know that she was heavily involved in policy-making and was essentially a cabinet-level advisor to Bill Clinton. She has her mark on many of the successes (and failures) of that era, including SCHIP, the Family and Medical Leave Act, etc.

Now, you could argue that it wasn't appropriate for a first-lady to be so involved in policy. That is a legitiamte discussion. But, to argue that that she was just like another first lady is stupid and does not hold up to facts.

If you think she sat around twiddling her thumbs or was not involved while the big show was going on around her, you know ABSOLUTELY nothing about Hillary Clinton. She has a long list of accomplishments in her own right, and has recieved numerous awards around the world for her public contribution. I bet you've never bothered to look up any of the good works she's done. Try it. You might just become a better person. And if your going to in no way address the substance of this post, don't bother replying. Thank you.

What: married Bill Clinton and got on his coattail.

Where: Rode coattails around Arkansas for years. Then rode coattails to Whitehouse and onto New York. Use coattails to dust her self off, but would have been president if she had divorced Bill and burnt his coattails, instead used coattails one more time to get in the senate.

When: for the past thirty-five years.

Sadly, Michelle, but Barack's own supporters say four years of connecting with Heads of State, and being at the Center of Politics in America, will not be any experience for you, other then being a Hostess.... And 8 years will be more of same... I don't believe that, but in reading the comments, many Obama supporters make that claim... I guess that what they believe if they were in your shoes.....

I actually hope she does run again in 2016, but I'm glad she said today that she probably won't. Hopefully that will lessen the incentive for anyone who was thinking of sitting this election out or voting for McCain in hopes of giving her another chance in 2012.

It doesn't lessen the incentive.

Yeah. Then we can hear the Pubs say that she's too old to be President, and that a girl could never be prepared for the job, and that she's too much of a war hawk.

Do you people know how happy the McCain supporters get when the Hillary/Obama conflict starts up again? Sorry to sound like a mom (I am), but this is not a done deal yet for Obama, and the alternative is terrifying. We need to focus on the next few weeks-Hillary will make her own decisions, and that is not the issue now.

I hope not. That would be a waste of her talent -- as it would be anybody else's. Plus, knowing O, it would give him another reason to scapegoat her. I hope she doesn't touch his administration with a barge pole.

What talent? She's never run anything in her life, and so is not qualified for a cabinet post. She was right to rank her chances at zero.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:53 PM on 10/14/2008

Oh yeah odoreida,

why in the world would she want to want to work in the administration who shares the SAME POLICIES she champions?

Just as the posts here lashing out at Clinton now are pretty sad, so are yours who demonize Obama just because he beat her in the primaries. To both sides: get over it.

If she wants to work for an Obama admin, more power to her. If she wants the majority leader position or SCOTUS, have at it. I think she would make an impact in any of those roles.

Hopefully she can see past the short-sighted bitterness reflected in a handful of posters here (on both sides).

I love Clinton, and was a huge supporter of hers until about February when I could not longer stomach either the tone or the fatally flawed strategy of her campaign and switched to Obama. That said, despite her campaign, Clinton would make an amazing president, and is fully capable and qualified to do so. Unfortunately, that will not happen. Due to her age, as well as the demographic she appeals to - older, conservative DNC blue dog Democrats, who will continue to decrease in number as they age out - she has no chance in either 2012 or 2016 as the progressive, liberal Democratic base will only continue to grow in numbers as other age into the Party, regardless of how the current election ends. She has, however, along with Barack, as minority politicians who are heads of the Democratic Party, have paved the way for another woman, most likely Democrat, to step up and win a 2016 run. So, with all sincerity, thank you Hillary. Enjoy your time in the cabinet, the Supreme Court, or at the forefront of the Senate.

I did, which is why I left her campaign. Still, in my opinion, I'd much prefer a Clinton administration, regardless of their campaign tactics, over nearly any Republican in a GE contest, which is really what I was getting at. All things are relative, after all. But would I prefer her over most likely Democratic candidates? Not likely.

I cannot honestly say that this woman would have made a good president, let alone an amazing one. Her true colors were exposed during the primary and that was enough for me. There were and are really good reasons why people don't like Hillary. And were not all just making it up.

She should have run in 2004. I still don't understand her decision not to. She'd have whupped Bush's nasty little tush and saved the world a lot of grief.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:05 PM on 10/14/2008

In hindsight, I agree. I wish she had run then too, although I understand why she didn't. She promised she wouldn't when she ran for Senate in NY the first time, and I read that she just did not feel she was ready.

I'm so sad. I hope the party drafts her in 2016, if Obama wins this time. We need someone as strong as you girl!

Assuming she was willing to be in the Supreme Court -- which fortunately she says she has no interest in -- she can't be Chief Justice until the present one either dies or resigns. And the incumbent is younger than Clinton, so I guess he'll be Chief Justice for quite a long time.
