WASHINGTON — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton puts the chances of her running for president again at near zero _ slightly higher than the chances she gives for becoming Senate majority leader or a Supreme Court justice.

In an interview aired Tuesday on "Fox & Friends" on the Fox News Channel, Clinton, D-N.Y., was asked the chances, on a scale of 1 to 10, that she would be the next majority leader in the Senate.

"Oh, probably zero," she said. "I'm not seeking any other position than to be the best senator from New York that I can be."

Being nominated to the Supreme Court?

"Zero," Clinton said. "I have no interest in doing that."

Running for president again?

"Probably close to zero," she said. "There's an old saying: Bloom where you're planted."

The former first lady, who was elected to the Senate in 2000 and re-elected in 2006, said she looked forward to working as a senator with a Barack Obama administration.

I'm sorry that it has come to this. This woman is so qualified, intelligent and a leader. I'm sorry that she ran such an awful campaign which lead to her not being able to run with Obama.

Her rhetoric killed her chances for inclusion on the ticket. So sad. Bill, with all his political savy, messed up big time. Both of them wanted back in the Whitehouse more than running a good, tight and yes, fair campaign. I'm really sorry for both of them.

I think that Obama should select her as part of his cabinet.......truly. She would be awsome.

Maybe because a lot of "PUMAs" have tuned into FOX out of some petty boycott against other media, I'm guessing. She can reach a targeted audience that way. Trust me, Sen Clinton makes no decision without political calculation.

With that frame of thinking in mind; I have taken plants that I thought were beyond help and re-planted them.
While they may have withered in appearance, they RE-ESTABLISHED themselves and with a vengeance I might add. Some nurturing, caring light and watering is all that it took, and of course with some kind words to help them grow. You don’t have to bloom just where you were planted you can bloom anywhere and everywhere as you HAVE in many people across the country. I hope that this will not be your last attempt. I would be ready to RE-PLANT your words if you decide to run.

Hillary missed her chance, she should have stepped up to the plate and took GWB on in 2004. Snooze you lose!!

I think she's assuming that O will get a second term, and she'll be just too old for it in 2016.

Anyone remember that promise Clinton made to New Yorkers when she was elected to the Senate? She vowed to serve one full term before moving on to anything else, and she did. She didn't snooze, YesWeCanada, she demonstrated service to her constituents. I can think of other Senators who didn't have that kind of honor.

If she could spare the country from 4 more years of Bush she owed it to us all to run. The republicans still laugh that the dems left their best horse in the stables in 2004.

Praise the Lord for little favors. Though I think she's earned a cabinet post, which wouldn't be the worst way to ride out into the sunset--as opposed to losing in a Senate primary.

Um, just who would Hillary Clinton lose a Democratic primary in New York State to? Please, really, answer this one, because I need a good laugh and this answer is sure to provide it.

It's a damn shame that people saw this contest so much as one versus the other. For a while there I strongly wanted anyone but Hillary but later changed my mind. This didn't need to end up as such a divided engagement. A lot of PUMAs foolishly think Obama ran simply to take Hillary down like it was some sort of vendetta. It was just a competition and Hillary should really consider running again in the future.

I think a lot of Hillary's former supporters thought that Senator Obama didn't have the "right" to run against Hillary, much like McCain and his supporters feel today. A lot of people felt that her presumed nomination was "in the bag" until he messed it up. They never saw him as a credible contender, but as an interloper, someone who did not know his place and who didn't even belong in a presidential election, much less competing against the entitled Hillary Clinton. As he began winning, their contempt for him became more important to them than their support for Senator Clinton. and inevitably, it took over their logic, their ability to look at the campaigns objectively and to accept the reality of his incredible candidacy. Senator Clinton is an outstanding leader of the Democratic Party, and she will always be so. And Senator Obama will possibly be one of the greatest leaders our nation has ever had. It's unfortunate that the PUMAs took it to the level that they did, but thankfully, it did not divide the party as we had feared, and today most of us are all on the same side.

she can't be worse than Rice.

Some people just DO NOT like this women. I understand it is disheartening for some of her supporters to hear but it's true. As long as you like her and support her then that is great. Not everybody sees her in the same light. Don't be upset because peope say bad things about her. The primaries stirred up so many emotions. Some people love her, some people can't stand her, that's the way it is.

Right. And I defend Hillary Clinton just as vehemently as I defend Barack Obama. Most of the justifications that people have for not liking Hillary Clinton can be countered with equally dubious claims against Barack Obama. It may be a good idea for people to pan out and get a wider perspective on this. BOTH Clinton and Obama are good progressives. BOTH should be admired for their tenacity and success in the face of overwhelming odds.

If Democrats want to see sweeping changes happen for the good of this country, it may be wise to support those who represent progressivism and support most of Obama's policy.

It's inexplicable how many Americans have lost the intuitive ability to discern phoniness. She has made my innards hurt with her forced shallow delivery on so many topics.

Harry Reid needs to be replaced as Majority Leader in the Senate, replaced with an effective MANAGER rather than someone (like Reid) whose strong suit is parliamentary procedures and maneuvering. Hillary is too far down the totem pole at this time to be Majority Leader (35 ahead of her in seniority). She needs a couple major committee chairmanships under her belt before she can be elected to that post.

Ok, so she doesn't have the years. But nobody else there got as close to the nomination as she did. I was one of the biggest critics of her campaign during the primaries, but she did accomplish a ton, and she does have a large group of passionate supporters out there. (Not saying they don't now support Obama, some more reluctantly than others, but she does have an energized base to draw from).

Seniority counts, but the question should be "who can get things DONE in the senate", and by that measure she brings an awful lot to the majority leader position. Maybe it isn't "what is normally done", but it makes a lot of sense to me. That is a job she was made for.

She really got on my nerves during the primaries but I still think she should run after Obama's 8 years. I don't think Biden will be up for it.

That is probably the only bad thing about the Biden pick.
By 2016, he will probably be too old to run.

I think she got on your nerves because you, like the MSM, are in love with Obama. You couldn't see that, while a fine speaker, he is completely not ready for the Presidency. Before your liberal hormones eat your good sense and judgement, I am not a McCain supporter. I just think that Obama was given a path to the White House and Hillary as well as others were given a gauntlet. I hope if he's elected Obama won't be as worthless as I think he will be.

I believe he will indeed prove you wrong, John. Of course, he inherits a total mess. He's not superman. But then again, Hillary would already have turned this into the hate circus that McCain has tried to draw Obama into, and in the end would have lost.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. I am not an "Obama lover" in the sense that some find him to be imperfect. I think Obama has proven himself, so far, to be ready for the Presidency. He brings much hope to a lot of people. I travel the country for work and I see support for him everywhere I go. I think hope, at this time of uncertainty in this nation, is supremely important.

John,

You must be joking.

Obama had 24-7 blaring of a pastor he knew saying some horrible stuff. McCain had Hagee and MSM said nothing.

He got grilled for flag pins (actually asked in a debate about). McCain can wear one or not with no questions.

He was ALWAYS cast in the "why can't he" role... why can't he appeal to whites... to women... to hispanics... to seniors etc. Whatever good news came out, it was always "well what about this". Nobody else faced that burden.

I am so tired of this "he has had it handed to him" line, which is completely oblivious to the actual facts.

He ran the gauntlet and then some.

I see Hillary as the next US Attorney General or Supreme Court justice or if Biden decides he doesn't want run for re-election in 012, Obama could replace him with Hillary.
