I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Another Apple product event, another round of speculation and gossip over Steve Jobs' health. This time, Jobs himself acknowledged, in his own way, that his health is a topic of vigorous discussion.

If you're more interested in the products and actual business covered at the conference, click through to the story on the new MacBooks. If you want the humorous clip of Steve Jobs telling reporters they can't ask about his health, watch below:

Steve Jobs obviously realizes that Apple stock price is directly proportional to his health. However, one has to wonder about the level of 'ego' involved that prevents this man from acknowledging publicly that yes he does/may have some real health 'issues'.

Jobs' refusal to speak the truth about his health tells me that I don't want to own this stock since no plans for sucession are in place.

The above being said, please GET WELL STEVE.

His refusal to answer Qs about his health is very puzzling. tells me that he IS hiding something! If you have beaten cancer, you shout this info out loud! If not, you avoid the issue. [I would know as I once had cancer myself and am perfectly fine now!]. I too am staying away from this stock, but will buy when it reaches $40 or below.

Perhaps he's hiding from himself as well... There are all kinds of diseases and illnesses that have stigmas attached to them... and then again, this may be absolutely nothing...

Jobs is a master at several things, including hiding things in plain sight. You have proven he does this amazingly well.

No plans for succession? Hardly. Jobs acknowledged this problem by sharing the stage with two of the brains behind the new Macbooks. Whereas these events used to be "The Steve Jobs Show", this one subtly emphasized there's more to Apple than Steve Jobs. I would expect to see more of the Apple team in the future.

BTW, he also revealed that their "new" unibody construction process for the Macbooks was previously used for the Macbook Air, which I believe was intended as their proof of concept. The evidence of this new process has been in people's hands for months, yet so many people were focused on what's inside the frame, they didn't notice the frame. Hidden in plain sight.

Thousands of people work at Apple, and every one of them are jointly responsible for what Apple has accomplished. (In the tech world, this is really where the magic happens, not at the top.)

What Steve Jobs is really, really great at doing is "being the CEO." I hope that he "lives long and prospers," and continues to hone his acting-skills at keynote speeches. But, yeah, one day there will be that sad "morning after," and the executive management team will keep right on going.

Do we have to, like, "bury him now?" I don't think so. The weather in coastal California is much too pretty for that.
