ThinkProgress.com:

Last month, conservative columnist Kathleen Parker wrote a scathing column saying that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) is "way out of her league" as the GOP's vice presidential candidate and called on the Alaska governor to "bow out" of the race in order to "save McCain, her party, and the country she loves."

Parker has subsequently noted angry responses from conservatives around the country. "To the GOP base, predictably, I'm a traitor," Parker wrote.

Last night on the Colbert Report, Parker reiterated her belief that Palin is not qualified for the GOP ticket, but she also revealed that some White House officials have told her that they secretly agree:

COLBERT: Now but you said you got emails from people in the White House who secretively -

PARKER: Did I say that?

COLBERT: Yes you did. You said you secretly got emails from people in the White House but you wouldn't name who they were, who said that they agreed with you.

PARKER: That's correct.

It could be that whoever picked Palin, and it was NOT McCain, believes she can be manipulated the way "they" have handled W for eight years -- after she becomes president.

I bet they wouldn't complain if McCain was removed from the ticket, too ;)

I don't know how she was put on the ticket in the first place.

I say keep her on...She has created so much entertainment for the country like Bush with his gaffs....
unfortunately for the McCain camp the move to get her off the ticket is a double edge sword.

GAWDS, could it be that Sarah will turn out to be a UNITER after all, could it be that the thought of possibility having another GWB in dress in the WH is even to much for some Conservatives to bear. THEY have also been POW's, Prisoners of "W" , but not welling to come out of the closet and admit it openly...NOTE: OFF THE RECORD CLOSET CONSERVATIVES AGAINST 8 MORE YEARS. KUDO'S to this lady.

Flailin' Palin really is a uniter. She has united the Dems, Independents and some Republicans against her and McSneers&Smears' nastiness, ignorance, fantastical lies and solution challenged rhetoric. I just hope she keeps it up until O is elected!

Sarah Palin, running on empty, no principles, honor or integrity, no substance!

No nothing! She is just pathetic!

She is obviously running away from reporters. GOP supporters does not notice that? What intelligence do they have? I guess nothing at all.

Picking Palin was a tragedy.
There's no time to correct it.
In time it won't seem to be anything but funny.

AmbivalentGuy, Levi maybe the father.

I have heard allusions to this rumor, but nothing solid.
Even if true, I'm not worried about personal infidelity,
but political integrity - that's another question.
And the answers are not pretty.

It's tooo late for her to step down. It would only underscore McCain's erratic behavior. He's made his bed.

When the voters tell the truth about something, Huffington Post refuses to post it on the blog. Sarah Palin is very messy. She has been a problem, since day one. I feel that she should resign.

What "truth" is missing here?

Sarah Palin have been a problem since day one. Exactly, what is it going to take to see that this woman have a problem. Just on Monday night I took a good look at Levi and it appeared that Palin's baby and Levi may have the same Down syndrome. So, I wonder if Sarah mistaken Levi one night for Todd? THINK ABOUT IT! Bristol, you better watch out, because Levi maybe Sarah's baby daddy. Sometimes the truth hurt.

This is the most ridiculous statement I have ever seen posted. You do realize that all people with Down Syndrome have a very similar and distinct look, despite genetics.

In no way does Levi look like he has Down Syndrome.

There are legitamate issues to raise concerning Palin and McCain's competancy, this is sooo far off. This is as bad as the old lady at the McCain rally that said Obama was an Arab.

We Obama/Biden supporters are supposed to be above this.

This statement is completely unsubstantiated rubbish. We don't need to resort to Rovian personal smears to win this election.

Sarah Palin is a complete train wreck as a potential vice president, but let's leave her family out of this.

Sarah Palin and her secessionist group members are now coming to the forefront. Her rhetoric about Ayers is in no comparison to her husband's association with the AIP. Todd Palin recently registered as a repub in order to help Sarah gain a footing in the GOP.

Now they are angry at McCain campaign for even bringing out Palin. The AIP organization is now catching some steam.
