Conservative Columnist Says White House Officials Want Palin Off Ticket (VIDEO)

Last month, conservative columnist Kathleen Parker wrote a scathing column saying that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) is "way out of her league" as the GOP's vice presidential candidate and called on the Alaska governor to "bow out" of the race in order to "save McCain, her party, and the country she loves."

Parker has subsequently noted angry responses from conservatives around the country. "To the GOP base, predictably, I'm a traitor," Parker wrote.

Last night on the Colbert Report, Parker reiterated her belief that Palin is not qualified for the GOP ticket, but she also revealed that some White House officials have told her that they secretly agree:

COLBERT: Now but you said you got emails from people in the White House who secretively -

PARKER: Did I say that?

COLBERT: Yes you did. You said you secretly got emails from people in the White House but you wouldn't name who they were, who said that they agreed with you.

PARKER: That's correct.

Here's our Octember surprise, HuffPosters-- Drop Sarah last minute and pick up Joe Lieberman. It then becomes plausible to say that the polling data is "inaccurate," "unrepresentative" or "not up to date" and explain a stolen election away with a "Lieberman effect" or something similar. Someone want to tell me just how a candidate for VP "gets off the ticket" this late in the game? Her name is on ballots across the country already by virtue of her party's confirmation. Taking her "off the ticket" will cause mass confusion in the Democratic Party voting ranks as Dems won't be able to tell who to vote for from their ACORN crib notes and the inked instructions written on their sleeves! Seriously, this is bogus from the start. The ticket and die are cast...get on with it!

I never thought I would see the Day when Republicans would turn on each other. The Republican Party as we have known it over the years is Dead....Bush has so damaged the brand name that now they are no longer willing to accept mediocre leaders. This is a REVOLT! and I must say these new Republicans have a conscience...which is nice for a change!

I'm not a big fan of Ms. Parker, but I have always felt she had integrity. Now I know she does. She also has enough guts to stand up to what's left of the Republican party. I think at this point our country needs two more parties, one for the real left, and one for the moderate, thinking conservatives like Ms. Parker.

You Americans need to expand your political parties. In Canada, we have 5 major parties, granted we do have a lot of minority governments which I favour anyway. I saw Katheen on Colbert last night, she was great...thank God there are actually some conservatives with integrity who put country first..too bad they didn't think like that in 2000 and esp. 2004. It cannot happen because of our election system. We need a runoff system, as Ralph Nader advocates. A voter who choose a first and a second choice. When the first choice doesn't prevail, the vote gets reallocated to the second choice.

Our electoral college essentially disenfranchises half the voters, too, because their votes don't matter and the candidates don't bother with them.

This is virtually unheard of in the theory of modern politics. The more negative von Palin becomes, the higher Obama's ratings soar. Same way with Hannity and Limbaugh. The more rac ist and ig no rant their atta cks the lower McCain/von Palin's ratings drop. It would be great if they all continue on their current course with the Ayer, Acorn, Wright and kitchen sink diatribe.

Some polls have Obama up by as much as 14 points today. I'm not celebrating anything until after the election is over, but it sure is heartening to know the vast majority of Americans are endorsing a forward looking, truly patriotic son of America, Barack Obama!
