ThinkProgress.com:

Last month, conservative columnist Kathleen Parker wrote a scathing column saying that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) is "way out of her league" as the GOP's vice presidential candidate and called on the Alaska governor to "bow out" of the race in order to "save McCain, her party, and the country she loves."

Parker has subsequently noted angry responses from conservatives around the country. "To the GOP base, predictably, I'm a traitor," Parker wrote.

Last night on the Colbert Report, Parker reiterated her belief that Palin is not qualified for the GOP ticket, but she also revealed that some White House officials have told her that they secretly agree:

COLBERT: Now but you said you got emails from people in the White House who secretively -

PARKER: Did I say that?

COLBERT: Yes you did. You said you secretly got emails from people in the White House but you wouldn't name who they were, who said that they agreed with you.

PARKER: That's correct.

"Gazprom delegation visits Alaska" (some comic relief...but true!)

http://www.gazprom.com/eng/news/2008/10/31479.shtml

How do you think Gov. Palin's experience in both energy and Russia will help?

If Michelle Obama was part of an organization that wants to "Become a separate and Independent Nation." America would be outraged. If Michelle Obama even gave a speech to such a group Obama would be about 10% in the polls. America wold not tolerate it.

What about Todd Palin? He has really "palled" around with the Alaska Independent Party? Where is the outcry from this? I never see him where a flag lapel? But we demand Barack Obama wear one to show his patriotism. Are we so hard hardened that we will accept anybody with lipstick and any secessionist? Just as long as the person is not of color.

America, your heart will be tested on Nov. 4th. The world's eyes are on you. Be very careful because it could be Todd Palin answering the White House phone at 3am.

It's too late now to do that. People have already started voting. Besides, I thought it was Rove who picked her. He may have outsmarted himself on this one.

I thought it was Mr. Schmidt who pressed for her.

Schmidt is a Rove acolyte. I also heard that Bill Kristol was the one who "discovered" her when the neo-cons docked in Alaska on one of their boating conferences. So his latest hand-wringing is especially sweet to watch.

Alaska has so few citizens per mile that really sarah represent a small city..I will say that Sarah has foiund her niche. She is easily trainable to incite riots and does so with the the nutty and cruel, and she repeats false claims as true. She fits right in with her party..

Kind of like saying you wish you didn't have herpes, it may seem to have gone away but it's there to stay. Way to go John Boy.
McCain has devoted his political career to fighting against everything we care about: peace, justice, jobs, education, health care, the environment, civil rights, voting rights, and honest government.

Someone needs to bring suit against the Republicans if they try to replace Palin at this late date. There would be no time to vet a new candidate; it would be too subversive and underhanded. We've only seen the tip of the iceberg on Palin herself at this point.

The fact that Palin said she has nothing to lose in attacking Obama, when clearly these nasty attacks on Obama are damaging the Republican ticket says alot about Palin's loyalties. She doesn't even put McCain first; not alone country.

The fact that she liked George Poppa Bush "because he became POTUS" tells me that she is in love with power for the sake of having power...not because of any political principles or any desire to change this country. She hasn't even thought about political issues..just the attainment of office.

She is obviously playing to the base and clearly preparing for a national political career after McCain

when asked which vice presidents she admires, she named only the ones who went on to become POTUS...

That was my take on her too. Its not that either she or McCain are interested in the "administration" of the govt, the day to day running of this country, especially for A-L--L its people.
They want the Title, the Office, the life that goes with being "at the top"...power and control. The attendant $$$ to come their way for the rest of their life, by hook or by crook is too tempting.
They assume, because Bush did it for 8 yrs and hasn't been stopped yet, that they can pull all their crony acts and thefts before
leaving office and good luck in catching them later.
If Palin's house was essentially a bribe by the company that built the Hocky Stadium in Wasilla, that she got a free house right there in river city...tells me she has ulterior motives galore.
If she re-regulated the city govt, where now NO building permits OR inspections were required, she was able to slide under the radar and magically get a $500,000 house on the lake. Helluvan operator.
There seems no end to the troubles this cupcake has cooked up for herself, she's likely to end up in prison not the WH. I imagine the WH knows this already.

Michelle Obama has done more interviews than Sarah Palin who is running for VP. No Meet the Press, No Larry King Live, that's crazy!

WHY do the republicans have to do and say everything in SECRET? Silly me, look at what they do. I answered my own question.

ALASKA LAWS WERE BROKEN THAT WERE NOT MENTIONED BY BRANCHFLOWER. At this point doesn't make any difference of Ethics Board finds she did nothing wrong. Law suits are coming because other Alaska laws have been broken.

you know, it just occurred to me how mccain threw the entire election away. Remember when Senator Clinton said she had the strength to handle whatever they throw at her? I'm wondering if she would be really vexed by the lack of real competition she would have faced if she was up against this same mccain campaign?
