Did you see/hear how he disdainfully spoke of the "health of the mother" -- multiple times??? And then he spoke disdainfully about it by saying it is "being stretched...???"
SICK. I hope every woman heard/saw our health being discussed by McCain as if we are some sub-spieces.
I wonder how much we tax payers have spent on saving McCain's life w/the very best medical care/technologies our Nation has to offer since the day HE was born?
He alienated women with almost every word tonight.
Well, everyone except SP of course - but the jury is still out on whether she is actually a woman at all - or just a droid.
If you forget politics and the presidential race; If you were interviewing for a job with McCain and Obama; which of those two would YOU want to work for...Charector DOES count. and TRUST
An over-the-hill white guy favours another over-the-hill white guy. I'm shocked. Who could have predicted?
Dear Rachel Maddow,
I can only hope that Ayers is a dead issue. Then again I don't watch Faux/Fix News.
Well, you can be sure Hannity will be mentioning it for the next four years...
during the OBAMA FIRST TERM!!!
Schieffer's bias was painfully obvious Now, that said I typically enjoy Schieffer's objectivity on the issues but tonight I felt he was allowing McCain to have the last word on nearly every question. However, Obama was able to address the issues, maintain his composure, and not display anger and bitterness like McCain. I'll be voting for Obama as I had pretty much decided before this debate.
There was no game changer and in my heart I feel sorry for John McCain who has sacrificed much for this country. Not sorry enough to change my vote because America deserves better leadership than John McCain offers.
hmmm, I thought he was being very even and I noticed that he asked McCain many of the questions first which is NOT the best position to be in. It is always better to be the second to answer in order to gather your thoughts and add commentary on opponent's.
I felt it was the best moderated debate of the three- just my opinion of course.
No talk about Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan, Isreal, illegal immigration, porous borders and the drug wars, when are they going to do something regarding addressing these issues?
this primarily a debate on domestic policy....but I think these topics could have been interwoven into questions since illegal immigration stresses our social services and ongoing wars in the middle east are draining our treasury
I think it would have been a better side subject to touch on then all this Ayers, ACORN, Joe Plumber nonsense.
Well, the topic was "domestic policy" so Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan, Israel are not exactly appropriate. As for the illegal immigration issue, Schaefer wasn't going to bring that up since it would invariably piss off the Republican base against John McCain, they no likee the position he once had, which is why he abandoned it abruptly and without explanation.
Foreign affairs was the first debate, remember? McWhackJob's alleged strength, but Obama scored a clean win.
Pundits keep saying that this was McCain finest debate and he WON on points. What debate did the pundits see?
What I saw was one angy old man 'with hurt feelings" who could hardly call Obama by his name and who was incessantly rude and condescending.
He rolled his eyes and acted like a spoiled child. In short he was nassssty and IMMATURE.
In short he did not act like a gentleman of 72 yrs but rather like a kid of 7.2 years who was throwing a tantrum because he can't get his way.
Did I hear right, but did McCain essentially say that women's health is inconsequential when it comes to abortions?
I saw the same thing - he was acting like a kid with the Ayer's thing. Then when he got his answer, McCain says, he didn't care about Ayer's.
Then wanted Obama to apologize for what Mr. Lewis said. Gee, McCain is a big cry baby. Sheeeeh!!!!
OBAMA-BIDEN
I personally missed it (must have been typing), but several pundits have said that he did mock the idea of the "health exception" and abortion, and that it will come back to bite him, especially with former Hillary supporters.
I saw the same guy you saw Confuseddemocrat..I was shocked when the talking heads were saying it was McCain's best debate..Hate to see his worst!!!
It was his best. He still clearly lost. In the first debate, he kept bringing up technical, hair-splitting criticisms of Obama which amounted to "So nyah!" He repeatedly lied about Obama's positions on the issues, his own position on the issues, his record, and Obama's record. All the time he was so furious he was fuming. He was a little more coherent tonight, at least for the first twenty minutes, but apparently he still thinks he can flagrantly lie and get away with it. Maybe he would have a prayer to win, except
McCain = Bush!
He tried to make a joke out of the mother's health by saying something about the issue being expanded to cover everything. His contempt was pretty clear. One good thing about letting him talk--- the real McBush came out tonight, and it sure wasn't pretty.
20 days...May all the forces in the Universe shelter Barack Obama and Joe Biden in these coming days; they are our hope for ourselves, our country, and the globe.
Amen.
Hallelujah...may God protect them from harm, the alternative is unthinkable.
Well said.
May the force be with us!
I suspected this moderated preferred John Mc Cain because he kept letting him run over time and always having the last words.
It doesn't matter Obama maintained throughout McCain constant nit picking . McCain was like a grumpy old man who kept talking about transparency .... Well where has been all these years on that subject.?
McCain is like one of those annoying old women who won't let anyone else get in a word edgewise.
Hear Hear
Also given all his years in the senate, you would think he had better command of the subject matter. He made alot of gaffes and mispronounciations....he was slaughtering his words, was rambling and was very incoherent at times. It was Palin all over again
PBS...Charlie Rose...Al Hung...called McCain "schizoid..."
Ha!
Correction - Al HUNT
First post-debate poll is in... Obama 53, Undecided 24, McDone 22... as Keith would say, once again undecided was a distant second to Obama and ahead of the old guy. LOL
Obama/Biden 08
CNN also polled a couple of interesting questions, who expressed views more clearly, Obama 66% to 25%, who spent the most time attacking McCain 80% to 7%, who seemed stronger leader Obama 56% to 39% and who was more likeable Obama 70% to 22%.
Apparently constant interjection and repeatedly asserting "I know how to (fill in the blank)" does not a stronger leader make.
Even if he is a McCain supporter I thought he was really fair in the debate and asked good questions that people wanted to hear. He DID NOT show the obvious partiality and bias that Tom Brokaw did in the last debate. In other words, if you didn't already know he was a McCain supporter, you couldn't have guessed just by watching the debate. I thought he id a fair job.
I agree. Schieffer's questions were good. He did a good job. BrokenJaw threw a hissy-fit in the middle of his debate because the candidates were not respecting him. He got an F. Schieffer got an A-.
The early polling on both MSNBC and CNN - an Obama win!!!
Via CNN polls of people who watched O won. 58% - 31 %
O's favorable went up by 3%
McSame's unfavorable went up.
