I think Schrieffer was a good moderator and Obama once again showed what a Presidential figure he will be ---McCain 's whining did not help his already tarnished candidacy---

the guy came to the debate well trained, all i hope that the numbers stay where they are now.I just have to mention that i was little disappointed in obama when he kept silence when mccain kept highly praising palin and softly attacking biden.
Obama wanted to cut out the negatively, McCain kept beating the drum showing still that his campaign was more negative. McCain was totally incoherent on certain topics and Schieffer allowed him to rant more than Obama.
McCain was trying to provoke Obama. Obama needed to remain unflappable, calm, collected and presidential. The rule is, don't argue unless its absolutely necessary. Don't engage and get in the mud with McCain unless you have to, and Obama didn't have to. The American public knows Sarah Palin isn't qualified, and Joe Biden is. Obama doesn't need to tell them that, much less open himself up to charges of sexism, the public has already decided that is the case.
And the post debate polling on CNN and MSNBC bears that out. CNN's poll showed nearly twice as many people thought Obama won, Obama's favorables went up slightly, and McCain's went down. MSNBC's poll was a win for Obama by almost the same percentage. Every voter discussion panel on the networks showed pretty much the same thing, even on CNN, where they weeded out people who had already decided one way or another as the debates went along, which tends to skew the results.

Obama is a true American, he knows how America thinks and feels. Liberal media my arse. Bob I thank you for showing how the MSM is in the tank for McCain. Thats okay, we don't need the old boys network anyway. The torch shall be passed, hopefully really soon!

Schieffer was no better moderator than the last two. Schieffer allowed McCain rebuttals and cut off Obama. Schieffer was clearly setting the stage for McCain to rant and rave about nothing. Poor debate moderator and this articles tells all about Schieffer.
The three debate moderators for the Presidential Candidates are all older than John McCain, who is another generation older than the boomers. They defer to McCain as their junior. They are all approaching 80 years, were born in the early 20th Century and came of age during WWII.

My husband just pointed out that no one mentioned Iraq one time during the debate. Not even as a tie in to cutting the budget. hmmmmm.
I noticed that. This was supposed to be the discussion of "domestic policies." What is a more domestic policy than the death of a child.

Maybe I'm not crazy. I've thought for months Mr Schieffer does not like Obama. WHY? I used to think the guy Schieffer had integrity. Haven't thought that for months. What happened to him? Wierd.
So, I was a long time admirer of John McCain until this election too.
As a moderator, he was tough and balanced and did ask good follow up questions to both.
Schieffer did POORLY, worst than the last two debates. One could stomach Brokaw over Schieffer. Very poorly done and still think Obama beat them both at their game.
Meanwhile , Palin is lost in the great Northwest (somehwre in New Hampshire)

McCain has real anger issues. He does not have the temperment to be trusted with this country. There's just too much at stake.

I thoight it was, me but I guess not, Schieffer seemed to alow McCain to ramble on, but stopped Obama several times, this seems to explain the disparity.
