In the clearest sign yet that we Americans do in fact have portions of our minds left to lose comes this news of the ever-evolving attempts of the right to convince people that some crazy conspiracy between ACORN, some properly disclosed faulty voter registrations, poor homeowners, subprime mortgages, William Ayers, the Weather Underground, the actual weather above the ground, and that terrorist planetarium in Chicago with its weaponized overhead projector, actually exists. It hasn't exactly taken root with anyone outside the usual media crackpots, but all that's about to change because now the GOP is getting deep into COSPLAY. Yeah! There's your fracking GAME-CHANGER right there! Grown-ups dressed up as chipmunks!

And look, the idiot chipmunks have a blog, too, where they totally demonstrate the soundness of their arguments through images of them wandering around Times Square with dull expressions on their faces.

From Politico:

"It's a lighthearted way to raise a serious issue," explained McCain spokesman Brian Jones of the furry creatures.

Yeah? Or maybe? Just maybe? YOU ALL ARE HIGH.

The Republicans are truly showing themselves to be feeble-minded.

I love to watch Repiglicans push buttons that used to work for them (remember the people who showed up at Kerry rallies dressed as flip-flops), only they don't work any more. Then they panic and keep mashing down on that button! It's GOTTA work! It's just GOTTA!!

Chipmunks, huh? I bet people are thinking -- Why are Chip and Dale showing up at a political rally? Were they on their way to Disney World and got lost? Hey, maybe they're handing out free passes to Disney World! Then when they find out there are no free passes, they walk away pissed.

Why not hogs instead? Hogs like to eat acorns. Besides, it would actually be an honest image of the heart of Repiglicanism.

Yawn. Zzzz..zzz..zz

So the GOP's new motto is We're the Chipmunks?

If they thought this ACORN was serious they wouldn't be running around dressed up like chipmunks they would be filing lawsuits.

So they think ACORN and the possibility of voter fraud is such an important issue that they dress grown men up in squirrel costumes?

Wow. The country is still at war in two countries, the economy is going down the toilet, and the GOP thinks the best way to make a point right now is people in animal costumes.

That's enough reason to run them out of town on a rail right there.

Acorn is a group whose committment to registration of the people who are poor or in need of assistance is being made a farce. They had some peope who phonied up names to get paid their quota isn't new thing as it happens everywhere when people get paid to register people. That it happens is sad but the rest of it says that real people got registered and should not be denied their vote. That Acorn wasn't but a couple of years ago supported by John McCain himself says even more about this farce.

I have been talking to others that used to support McCain, and what changed their minds. The response is often that Obama "knows what he doesn't know" and surrounds himself with the best and will do a great job running the country. McCain has surrounded himself with idiots and day to day disasters. What kind of people will he surround himself with if elected? It's not like all the Republicans there now are going to simply disappear if McCain gets in there and "cleans up Washington".

I am happy to see they did something this stupid. Just shows what kind of maroons they have access to.

This may backfire...because just looking at them makes me want to go find an ACORN office and sign up and vote for Obama as the T-shirt states. ???.......really? is this what it's come down to?

Just more proof that McCain's campaign is run by juveniles.

What a dumb stunt! Is there anything more cornball? Did McCain and Palin think this up or is this something out of Tucker Bounds rathole.

Is this the best the republicans can do?

Every adult American should revolt and the thought that the republicans think that Americans are so illinformed and misguided that they would fall for the antics of some overgrown puppets.

Who are the republicans appealing to? 4 year olds?
Well 4 year olds don't vote so this is money wasted.

So I'm watching Hardball, and there is a chipmunk behind Matthews. Someone keeps trying to put a sign it front of its face, and chippie keeps pushing it down. Hope the poor thing doesn't get squashed :).

This is awesome!!! I mean how pathetic can this ticket get? LIght hearted??? Geez they are hardly lighthearted in their attacks on Obama. The economy is tanking and the Republicans are doing this?

Man, they're going old school with the props. Those chipmunks don't hold a candle to the nuns.
