Politico:

On Sept. 24, Hillary Rodham Clinton received a surprise phone call from the man she's often denounced as an economic know-nothing: John McCain.

This was no social call, even though Clinton likes McCain enough to keeps his photo on the wall of her Senate office. The GOP nominee had already chatted with Bill Clinton about the mortgage crisis and wanted to pick the senator's brain about her new proposal to have the federal government buy up bad mortgages and renegotiate terms more favorable to homeowners on verge of default.

"McCain said he had been motivated by it, he was very complimentary about what she had proposed and wanted to know more," said a person with knowledge of the call.

Clinton responded coolly: "She didn't engage him, she just said, 'Thank you' and heard him out."

That has got to be one of the funniest reads of this entire campaign.
McCain calls Hillary for advise? Why not call Palin?? Isn't she the foremost expert on energy? Isn't energy the new frontier of the economy?

That was not Mavericky...that was Desperate!!

Another gimmick..

I think we will hear about this phone call on the campaign trail, or the debates tonight as "reaching across the isle" for advice.

Yes...reaching across the isle to let Hillary supporters know that she is helping McCain too! when she is not campaigning for Obama. Something is wrong with this picture! Hillary will be on the front row nodding to let McCain know if he is giving the right answers. When I heard Bill today...al he talked about was "what Hillary would do...and you can rest assure that McCain will acknowledge the Clintons tonight...even the "daughter that is so ugly..."that she must be Janet Reno and Hillary's child." I do not trust the Clintons, for they have shown us...that they are not to be trusted!

McCain is so predictable. How much do you wanna bet that he'll try & reach out to Hillary supporters tonight by mentioning the phone call..he'll try & pit Obama & Hillary against each other again. Zzzzzzz.
He's beginning to bore me.

So now we understand where he came up with the idea on the mortgages and he apparently didn't
get anything out of Hillary, because most of the people that have looked at the plan say it will only help the wealthy, and the rest of us will have to pay for it!
Go OBAMA/BIDEN 08

Hey John McCain I believe I hear the "FAT LADY" warming up.

Classic.

Poor Hill, she looks ragged. I'm glad she's been keeping a low but active profile, but a little rest could do her some good.

McCain's real motivation for making the call?

GUILT that he didn't pick HILLARY over PALIN.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:25 PM on 10/15/2008

His real motivation: to use anything he can to beat up on Senator Obama. Slimey guy. And the Clintons, they just can't seem to get that they've had their chance and lost.

Hillary you're on the BLUE TEAM and McCain is on the RED TEAM.

First of all McCain has repeatedly said that he KNOWS how to fix the economy, he KNOWS how to fix healthcare, he KNOWS how to fix education, he KNOWS how to win the Iraq war and he KNOWS how to capture Bin Laden .......................... So why does he have to call Bill and Hillary for advice?....................

And why would Bill and Hillary help the OPPOSITION in the middle of the campaign?

Bill and Hillary should have said that their loyalty lies with Obama at this time so they were not able to give him advice and talking points for his debate against Obama.

Again ................... HIILLARY AND BILL, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE BLUE TEAM, AND SHOULD NOT BE HELPING THE RED TEAM.

Why doesn't McCain call his buddy Phil Gramm or use his crackerjack lobbyist economic team. Why doesn't he turn to Sarah Palin, she has executive experience.
