I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The disdain for Obama is nearly dripping from McCain's mouth.

"I admire so much Sen. Obama's eloquence," he said, "and you really have to pay attention to words. He said we can 'look at' offshore drilling. You got that? 'Look at.' We need to do it now."

He then criticizes Obama for never traveling to the southern hemisphere, citing it as a reason why he doesn't support the Colombia Free Trade Agreement.

"Maybe you ought to travel down there and visit them and maybe you can understand them a lot better," McCain said, disregarding the fact that his running mate has only been to two other countries and just recently got her passport.

As Obama gave his response, McCain rolled his eyes dramatically.

The disdain for Obama is nearly dripping from McCain's mouth. "I admire so much Sen. Obama's eloquence," he said, "and you really have to pay attention to words. He said we can 'look at' offshore dri...

McCain cannot except the fact that Obama has control over his emotions. He kept saying just look at him or jsut lsiten to him. He cannot stand the fact that Obama is more intelligent that he, McCain is.

Sigh!!!!

I want a smart President IN CHARGE of running this country, NOT one who still harbors a grudge against Vietnam for his POW-ness.

OBAMA-BIDEN

McCain was grumpy because Obama kept using big words so McCain was forced to focus

It's OK. He wrote them all down so he could look them up later to see if he should feel insulted. As soon as he figures out what was said we will hear his whining on the stump.

McCain lacks self control. The last person we need as leader of the free world is someone who lacks self control. Period.

I think NBC had the best coverage as they showed both McCain and Obama on a split screen for almost the entire debate. McCain's reactions truly did not do him any favors and it's a shame that all networks didn't show him the entire time because his body language spoke volumes about his character (or rather lack thereof).

There really wasn't too much that Obama needed to do during this debate other than to help McCain torpedo his own campaign and he did that well. However I think he missed a golden opportunity to score a knockout punch. What he should have asked McCain is this. McCain's plan to restore the economy is essentially the same as Bush's, which is to cut taxes on the wealthy (which McCain actually opposed at one time). Obama should have asked McCain point blank, "John, Bush's two tax cuts for the wealthy, trickle down economic plan has failed miserably. What is it going to take for you to finally admit to those failures and why are you proposing to add more fuel to that fire?"

C-SPAN had a split screen for the whole thing, unless Bobby boy was "moderating".

McCain's eye rolls.... 689,000 votes for Obama
McCain's sarcasm... 1,567,987 votes for Obama
McCain's disdain... 3,901,823 votes for Obama
McCain's Ayers campaign... 4,879,042 votes or Obama

Obama's composure and dignity... PRICELESS!

I thought it would be interesting to see Sen McCain having to sit across from Sen Obama, not. He still wouldn't really look at him. And he still came across as a angry troll. Sen Obama came across as cool and collected even when Sen McCain was being an ass. Now that is class, that you cannot buy.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:31 AM on 10/16/2008

I totally agree, booker52! Obama exhibits first-rate class all the way. He is a true gentleman, and seeing the two of them in the split-screen venue, who looked presidential? It was a slam dunk for Obama!!

You could tell that he hated sitting anywhere near Obama, he hates him and he can't even hide it.

Of all that was said or implied last night between the two men, the reaction from McCain about the assassinations of the labor leaders who where organizing for workers rights was the most disgusting of all. The facial expression from McCain said all I needed to know about the kind of person he is.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:21 AM on 10/16/2008

yes, labor leaders in Columbia and other Latin American countries are targeted for as-sassination by RIGHT WING hit squads, with no subsequent arrests or prosecutions. Obama is right. McCain's reaction to this chilling truth? He rolls his eyes as if Obama is telling a lie!

mccain and his rightist ilk are truly toxic

Sen McCain after that exchange still wanted to do business with them, to hell with the cost of doing business!!! All he could see was dollar signs, not body bags. LOSER!!!!

I really loved Obama's answer to this question. It showed his humanity and compassion. McCain showed that he is more niterested in dollar bills than human lives.
Really pro-life.

The folks he 'pals around with" are the ones spending billions to set up "trade" with Columbia. They don't want organized labor because it would interfere with their massive profits from sweatshop labor to undercut more American jobs. Free trade my ass. Obama pointed out there is not reciprocal free trade. We get their tarriff free junk but they don't want our goods. Our wealth continues to leave the country and big business is getting tax credits to cut American jobs while they exploit foreign labor.

I believe the McCain eye-roll conveyed "What's a few more killings they are foreigners anyway".

It's obvious that McCain doesn't like Obama because McCain has been petty and condensending towards him during every debate. I'm happy that BO didn't take the bait that McCain was trying to put out there because then the right wing talking heads would have used the militant, angry black man card against him when it's obvious that the McCain/Palin people are using race to play on people's fears and keep the country divided.

We better save these YouTube videos of McSame making all the weird faces. It seems his campaign wrote a letter to YouTube and asked for some of them to be removed. It was damaging to his campaign. SAVE BABY SAVE!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:02 AM on 10/16/2008

So what you're saying is that McCain's own face and the facial expressions that he himself makes...are damaging to his campaign?

Should he use someone else's face during campaign appearances? Maybe Brad Pitt.

The McCain campaign are a bunch of clowns.

I really don't understand where McCain gets off touting his travel as evidence of his interest in foreign affairs. Anyone who has been in the house and senate that long will have racked up the junkets over the years, which I really don't think serve much purpose for a congressman or senator other than photo ops. I think the answer to the travel question would be "if I'd spent so many years in the Senate spending taxpayer money on overseas trips I'd probably have been there".

Let me hear your body talk, positive and negative indicators:

Positive Behaviors
Direct Eye Contact – Interested, likes you
Smiling Eyes – Is comfortable
Relaxed Brow – Again comfortable

Negative Behaviors
Limited or No Eye Contact – Lying, uninterested, too confined, uncomfortable, distraction
Tension in Brow – Confusion, tension, fear
Eye Rolling - A destructive pathology

I think the McCain body language is of the utmost importance.

The next President will be our country's representative to the world. Who do we want to send out there?

I would prefer to be represented by Obama's calm and respectful demeanor.

PBS didn't have this split screen view.

It's fascinating!

It also makes John McCain look a lot worse. In PBS, you didn't see McCain's constant tics, blinks, and other gestures. They were much more dramatic in split screen.

C-span did and it was outlandish. Not the split screen, but mccain's twitches and eye rolls as obama spoke. Worse than mccain's rambles on the last debate.
