Palin Claims New Hampshire Is Part Of The "Great Northwest" (VIDEO)

Sarah Palin drew some boos and shouts of confusion today, when while speaking in New Hampshire she mistakenly claimed that the Granite State was part of the "great Northwest."

"I like being here," she told the crowd in Laconia, "because it seems like here and in our last rally too -- other parts around this great Northwest -- here in New Hampshire you just get it."

It's tough video and an innocent mistake, to be sure. But it certainly doesn't help the preexisting image of Palin as being intellectually incurious. For the record, she hasn't been in the Northwest for quite a while, if at all while on the trail. On Sunday, she campaigned in Ohio; on Monday in Virginia; on Tuesday in Pennsylvania; and tomorrow she is heading back to Ohio, according to the McCain campaign public schedule.

I used to live in NH. Calling them part of the the Great Northwest, I know most of them would really consider that an insult. That is not going to play well in New England. Even if it was a mistake, they are still going to find it insulting that she didn't seem to really know where she was. They are independent people who are proud of their history.

All well and good to joke about this woman and the derisive voice of the Republican campaign. But the scariest part is that nearly half this nation buys into the lies and distortions, the "terrorist" references and the denials of dirty campaigning by McCain and his cohort Palin. I'm not sure that it isn't time to apply for political asylum outside the US should the republicans win this election.

The crowd gave HER the opportunity to correct herself, though. She could have used the correction to get an applause line after she had heard that reaction.

I give you credit for making a valid point and stating it well, but I think you'll have to agree that this gaffe really did suck the enthusiasm out of this crowd, from the sound of it.

No the reality check is that SHE NEVER OWNS UP TO ANY OF HER MISTAKES PERIOD. Even when they're much more significant than just misspeaking. umm like the fact that she was found to have committed unethical practices by the ethics board, yet everyday she gets on television and continue to lie and say, " I'm glad I was cleared of any wrongdoing­." Like wtf? What report was she listening to?. And if I was mocked so much for not even having so much as ordinary intelligence, I would try harder to not make so many bloopers and if i did i would immediately correct myself so at least it would look as if i caught my own mistake. But u know what she probably doesn't even know she made one as usual. So it's ok.. keep defending Sarah for her willful ignorance. She is her own worst enemy and no1 on the left, nor liberal, nor in the middle can make her look worst than she has made herself look.

She couldn't even stand to correct herself...­she has to stick her head in the sand and ignore her mistakes. She has shown that side already, concerning the 'Troopergate' findings. That's really what troubles me most about her-not that she made a simple verbal blunder. It smacks too much of the way people in the Bush administration have acted: like their "scat don't stank."
