Republican officials in Sacramento, California have removed highly offensive materials from their official website after just about everyone with even a vestige of class complained that the images -- which include a suggestion that Barack Obama be waterboarded -- were totally ridiculous. Through a spokesman, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger decried the materials as being "completely and totally inappropriate."

Apparently, the responsible party -- or at least the guy willing to "take credit for" the web images -- is Craig MacGlashan, the Sacramento County GOP Party Chairman. Prior to the removal of the offending items, he defended his website by saying, "I'm aware of the content. Some people find it offensive, others do not. I cannot comment on how people interpret things." Hmmm. Let's see. "Waterboard Barack Obama." How should I interpret that? How about, "Craig MacGlashan is a horse's ass?"

Here's what I posted on www.newwestnotes.com

If you want to see who’s giving to the Sacramento Republican Party, go here:

http://cal-access.sos.ca.gov/Campaign/Committees/Detail.aspx?id=1053446&view=received

Feel free to call them and ask them how they feel about this.

Since the local parties are often used to funnel soft money to candidates, it will be interesting to see if this impacts any elections.

Couldn’t find any contributions that the Sacramento Republican Party had made in this election cycle, but in 2006 they funneled$50,000 to Jeff Denham, $130,000 to Mike Machado and $271,000 to Shirley Horton. Maybe they would like to comment on this?

If McCain and Palin actually believe what they're stammering, why aren't they demanding that Obama be immediately arrested and sent to Gitmo for a while? Plus, visit the Sacramento Rep web site. Sheer craziness, involving activities that took place years before Obama was even born.

No true Christian (one who follows the teachings of Christ) could condone the hateful imagery on the GOP site. Which should mean no true Christian could be a member of the Republican party.

Respectable Republicans,
Your party has been hijacked by religious and racial extremists, and its leaders have embraced socialism with the bailout. Your only honerable options are to become libertarian or independent.

Now when will we have a viable alternative to the Democratic party? I may vote Democrat, but I am an independent of the opinion that the two party system HAS GOT TO GO!!!!

It feels so good that I don't have to justify why I'm a Democrat. Those good Christian folks are despicable.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet, but Craig McGlashan's wife, Roberta McGlashan, is a Sacramento County Supervisor. Her district is full of McCain/Palin and Yes on 8 signs and bumper stickers. But in the Sacramento central city area, it's Obama/Biden yard signs as far as the eye can see. We're not all idiots here in the central valley, I promise!

I would usually call Godwin's law but the last couple weeks have made the case that Godwin's law doesn't apply this time to the GOP.

The GOP has become a sick, twisted joke. Abraham Lincoln must be spinning in his grave.

MSNBC had a McCain talking head going on about Ads this AM with the complaint from the GOP: Those Dems are spending more on ads than the GOP - sounds like whining to me, we CAN'T spend money we don't have.

Then they went on to Negative Ads, but they don't want to tell you what they mean...This bill board wasn't on TV...I guess this doesn't count...sort of like "pallin around with terrorist" on a GOP stump speech.
The GOP is trying to compare Apples to Oranges and whining the entire time.

And this ad is typical of the GOP, I guess they differentiate between a"coded" negative ad ( "Who is he," on a stump speech) vs. overtly negative ads like this bill board

Shame on the GOP.
