I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Stay Classy Gop

Republican officials in Sacramento, California have removed highly offensive materials from their official website after just about everyone with even a vestige of class complained that the images -- which include a suggestion that Barack Obama be waterboarded -- were totally ridiculous. Through a spokesman, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger decried the materials as being "completely and totally inappropriate."

Apparently, the responsible party -- or at least the guy willing to "take credit for" the web images -- is Craig MacGlashan, the Sacramento County GOP Party Chairman. Prior to the removal of the offending items, he defended his website by saying, "I'm aware of the content. Some people find it offensive, others do not. I cannot comment on how people interpret things." Hmmm. Let's see. "Waterboard Barack Obama." How should I interpret that? How about, "Craig MacGlashan is a horse's ass?"

I think the Jane Fonda reference is hilarious. Does anyone doubt that this election is about change??? Yet, these people are stubbornly frozen back in the 1970's. What a joke.

If Jane Fonda is apparently as terrible to that guy as Hugo Chavez, I prefer to take that as being an endorsement for Chavez and not the reverse. :p

I think you give them a little too much credit. They are back in 1950s McCarthy era. If you go to any conservative blog they are OBSESSED with the idea that Obama is a communist. And he's here to sell you some asbestos blankets!!

Hey Guys, where's your sense of humor? They want to torture Obama in the funny, haha sort of way.

What exactly will it take to get the Secret Service involved here?

I am beyond sick over this.

Please America, even if you like a Repub candidate for a particular office this year, consider voting a straight Dem ticket.

If no one else will hold their feet to the fire over this type of behaviour, our votes will!

Lets take back America!

Cheeriogirl:

I called the Secret Service in Scranton yesterday about the 'kill him' remark reported by the Staff Reporter from the Times Tribune. The Times now has a story up saying the Service is investigating and their reporters have been questioned.

I asked the agent about this web page and he told me to report it to the Secret Service in Sacramento, which I did.

I know I run the risk of appearing to be some kook that's ringing up the Secret Service every 15 minutes, but if that's what it takes to force them to go after these people and to get the media to report on the utter irresponsibility of McCain Palin who are tacitly condoning this hateful speech, then I'm happy to do so.

Ahhhhh - "The Valley".....ANOTHER reason the capitol of California needs to be moved out of that 'marsh'.....literally...it is a marsh.

Sacramento County Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan and her husband, Craig, head of the county Republican Party, chat with friends at the "Fall Ball at City Hall" in Citrus Heights. The Oct. 19 event celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the city's incorporation, which Roberta MacGlashan helped bring about.

You obviously don't live in Sacramento. Sacramento is a beautiful city and is not a marsh. The marshes are in the Bay Area. There are a lot of descent people and good Democrats that live here. Sacramento is Obama country.

It is disappointing that this type of behavior happens here in the capitol, though. It makes me sad.

Yay for Sacramento! I grew up there. It isn't all weirdos like those particular republicans. Really. I love Sacramento. It's my hometown. Go visit Williamsland Park, go to the river, visit the capital, or Sutters Fort. There is so much history there, and so many great people. When I was a kid I used to hang out in the legislature. It had these horrible red velvet curtains everywhere, but you could sit right in the chambers for hours listening to everything go down. You could walk right into the governor's office back then. Facinating. What a wonderful place to experience everything first hand that you were learning about in school. And eat icecream at Gunthers. :-)

Jason,

In order to get the Secret Service to respond to verbal "threats," the individual who hears the threat must report it to law enforcement immediately. I contacted the Scranton Secret Service yesterday regarding the 'kill him' remark at the Palin rally. Although they are now investigating the incident, it would have been much more helpful to have the reporter come forward and possibly identify the individual at the time.

I asked the agent about the Sacramento GOP webpage and whether 'Waterboard Barack Obama' constituted a threat. He said Sacramento Secret Service would have to determine that but that they would rather receive a report and investigate it, than not. Sacramento office said this type of material is monitored and that she couldn't discuss an investigation with me. But she wouldn't confirm that this particular incident was under investigation.

Can you please get the word out that people need to report on these incidents immediately. Perhaps if enough of us express concern about the dangerous tone of the McCain campaign it will have an effect. I am shocked by the hatred being whipped up in the campaign and the tacit approval of McCain/Palin to their mobs' cries for violence.

This is not some disembodied voice in the crowd. County party chairman Craig MacGlashan is an attorney and the husband of Sacramento County Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan.

He is an officer of the court and the spouse of an elected official. He should be held to a much higher standard. What would make him believe this kind of practice is acceptable?

As an elected official will Sup. MacGlashan speak out against her husband's actions...or will she remain silent as John McCain has?

THESE PEOPLE HAVE GOT TO GO!!!

Everyone needs to ensure that they are legitimately registered to vote by going to your local elections office. Some of us may have already been disenrolled for various reasons.
Volunteer to Get Out The Vote at your local Obama HQ dontate money if you can.
Help the elderly/indigent get to the polls on November 4.
Organize neighborhoods to go to the polls together--strength in numbers.

Here is a helpful link with registration/polling location information!

This campaign is bringing all rightwing the loonies out of the woodwork. Not a bad thing, that. Most Americans are more reasonable than these mean-spirited bigots and pointing out the viciousness of the extreme wing of the gops is beneficial for the level of tolerance in our country.

There is nothing "grand" about the Republican Party. They are a disgrace. They have got to go.

Send a message! Vote a straight Dem ticket this year!

I hate to see this kind of South Carolina G.O.P.CRAP here in California. Oh well, many of us have already sent in our vote by mail ballot. I'm feeling a huge Obama majority in this state.
