John Stewart had lots of fun on last night's "Daily Show" pointing out how John McCain recycled many of the lines used in Tuesday's economic stump speech.

"I think I've heard this brand-new speech before, I think it was at the Republican convention," joked Stewart.

Some of the recycled lines spotlighted by Stewart, featuring side-by-side videos of McCain repeating the same lines in the same rhythm, practically harmonizing with himself:

- "We'll drill them now..."
- "We're going to stop sending $700b to countries that don't like us very much"
- "We'll invest in all energy alternatives: nuclear, wind, tide, solar, natural gas, clean-coal technology..."
- "My friends, I can hardly wait until I introduce her to Washington DC"
- "I've been fighting for this country since I was 17 years old and I have the scars to prove it."
- "Fight for what's right for our country, fight for the ideals and character of a free people, fight for our children's future, we never hide from history, we make history."

After showing the video, Stewart quipped, "His supporters are going to be so mad when they find out that he recycles."

Cost of listening to McCain or Palin speak, new speech or otherwise: Nausea and upset stomach. Cost of watching McCain sneer at Obama all through the debates: One bottle of high blood pressure pills. Cost of watching John Stewart skewer McCain so handily: Priceless.

Just change the recycling LOGO, and everything'll be allright.

That was not even the best part of the show.

Jon Stewart's evisceration of Ari Fleishers talking points was much more entertaining. And informative. And intelligent.

Jon has the best political mind in America. He can articulate his beliefs simply and quickly. And can think rings around his Republican guests. Slices through the spin with amazing speed.

Unlike anyone else in the media. He has the brains and charm and humor to get his points across rapidly and . . . nicely. He doesn't raise his voice or be rude.

His mother raised him well.

You're absolutely correct on this one.

I was in the audience of last night's (10/15) show and Jon was great!

He is the same off camera as he is on camera. Very nice to the audience, joking around with his staff. Great guy! Great show!

I envy you.

I would love to see the Daily Show in person. What a treat.

The Daily Show is consistently pointing out a lot of hypocrisy of this election. THANK YOU, THANK YOU for cutting right to the truth of so much of the lies and hype.
This "comedy" show is much more truthful and informative than the main stream media with "real journalist" - scary isn't it!

At seventy-two the man is past it. Better he should be an honored statesman, although I fail to see when he has been a statesman, asked for comments on situations, interviewed on news shows, etc. than to fizzle out as he is doing. He may go down to ignominious defeat if the Obamaites get their acts together and give and work. The current resident of the WH is the worst president ever and John could top that. Should he be elected, Heaven forbid, and not serve out his term, a likely event given the increasing growth on his face, Sarahahaha would show us a new high in low.

This is what the Daily Show does best - exposing the hypocrisy of all sides in politics. But this, I must say, was incredibly effective. I thought it made not only McCombover, but also Faux News, look incredibly simple and small.

Yeah, all that talk of ending this stupid, illegal, unethical, lie of a war on people who didn't attack us on 9/11. So cliche. I've been saying that since 2003. Rip off!

Here's what I hear over and over from McCain: Obama be fixin' to raise we taxes. Cuz' trillion dollar bailout +W's failed wars=Our taxes go down.

Stick a fork in that turkey, my friend, because it is done.

You know it is sad when a person like Jon is doing the mainstream media's job. Where is Cronkite when we need him?

Cronkite's been retired for about 20 years. Got out of the cesspool while he had the chance.

Those who are familiar with the most trusted name in America will remember two events.

(1) His bedside death vigil with Eisenhower - in an attempt to get a statement from him to stop Goldwater's nomination.

(2) His destruction of Jimmie Carter with "Today is the x day of the Iran hostage crisis".

As yes for the good old days of impartial and honest journalism! (?)

I think it's because he's not good with teleprompter's. This way he can just remember what it is that he needs to say, and say it over and over again.

Funny thing is that he just said alot of the same lines again in the debate! It's getting to the point I can recite them along with him..
"We're going to stop sending $700b to countries that don't like us very much..." "I've been fighting for this country since I was 17 years old and I have the scars to prove it..."...and so on...and so on...

"We're going to stop sending $700b to countries that don't like us very much..."

If the RNC was in September, how did McCain know the amount of the bailout?

Does that include Wall Street?
