It's tough when there are protests, such on Wall Street before the bailout, and the MSM doesn't cover them in depth or glosses over them. I didn't know how extensive they were until I saw them on YouTube. This is part of the problem. I was at an interesting talk last night on 1968 entitled "When We Were Young." David Bouchier spoke (of WSHU and New York TImes fame), and one point he made was very telling. During the Vietnam War we were shown devastating after devastating image, heart-rending. This is what helped fuel the protests all over the world. He questioned why you don't see these kind of protests against the Iraq War and other injustices, and then surmised that it was because the politicians learned an important lesson from Vietnam -- keep the war as much as possible out of the public eye. Look at how much press the new Ipod got -- all those people camping out to be the first to own one -- just this past summer! Pathetic. Aside from the reports on NPR, do we get to see the increased demand at food banks and soup kitchens? No, that is not news.
