New York Post:

DESPITE what the experts think, Fox claims it's not upset over the prospect of a small-ball Fall Classic between the Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Logic dictates that the network was rooting for a Boston-LA World Series next week - with the chance for Dodgers manager Joe Torre to avenge himself on both the Yankees and the Red Sox in a single series.

"You will always find matchups that on paper are going to look more attractive," says Fox Sports President, Ed Goren. "That doesn't necessarily mean that in the long run you're better off.

"We're going to play the hand we're given," he says.

I am more likely to watch the World Series if Tampa makes it. To hell with Boston and their fans. At least the Patriots didn't win this year. It is a large market conspiracy, it's just that someone forgot to let the Cubs in on the plan.

Let's not get too hasty declaring Tampa Bay the winner just yet. Perhaps you guys missed the last two times the red sox came back down 3 games? Let me remind you... it was in 2004 and 2007.

Phillies v Red Sox!

The match up FOX really wanted was Clinton-Guiliani.

That's really big of Fox.

Can't help but remember last year's MLB playoff's with Stephen King in the stands. The Fox reporter was interviewing him during the first game of the World Series. The Fox guy asks King how many pages he was able to read in his lap book in between innings. King says it had been about 17 pages. But now that the games are on Fox, he could read 28 because the commercials were so much longer. I thought that was a great shot. (Sorry about the verb tense shifting)

Fox is scared that they will lose money on this one... they will even take money from Obama to shore up their losses: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-worldseries-obama&prov=ap&type=lgns
I love it! Go Rays!

The last time Philly won the World Series in 1980, Reagan was elected a couple of weeks later. That fun fact should split the room.

Should be a great series if you love the game, and I do. Two great teams that have earned it.

Oh really? You're "OK" with it? What if you weren't? Would we be seeing a different World Series?

Maybe they won't feel the need to put those horrible Fox Sports robots up on the screen. They just make me want to punch something. They were on during the Packers game and I beat the crap out of my Roomba.

That's really big of Fox. First they screw up the game schedules every Satuday. Then they start playoff games so late that they run on into the next morning. (Thank God for ESPN News the next day.) Now they are so gracious to say a Tampa bay-Philadelphia series would be okay. Like they have a choice.

It'll be a great series, although I think the Rays will trounce the Phillies. Sure, there's the portion of the population that doesn't like to try new things, that would like to see Manny and Torre beat the Red Sox, but there's also a portion of the population that is glad that the usual suspects didn't make it to the Series, that the Rays made it in their first ever jaunt into postseason. Go Rays!

Wrong, Budokan.
And of course Fox cares. The coverage of the NLCS was so biased it was hard to listen to.
Buck and McCarver are the worst I've heard in a long time
