Thursday on "The View" George Hamilton talked about the affair he had when he was 12. "I had a relationship with my stepmother... She was about 28. My father never knew... It was very normal."

Years later when he was famous and his dad was dead, the pair met up again and rekindled their sexual relationship.

I agree with George Hamilton. It's hard for boys to get enough female attention at that age because you're too old for comfortable maternal affection and you're actually a young man. A Bar Mitzvah is at age 13 for a biological reason.

I think a lot of men never really grow up because the natural pace of development is stifled by frigid women. That probably explains why "old world" men were more comfortable with their masculine identity while modern men tend to be more sniveling and wimpy.

I skimmed past the headline and got into the meat of the article without being fully aware of the subject matter--what a creepy surprise!

Clearly, Mr. Hamilton's stepmother did not understand proper boundaries with her stepchildren. Maybe, she was a victim of sexual abuse when she was young, or perhaps she was just a pervert without any explanation for being one--either way, the whole story is very warped and sad. However, the saddest part about the entire matter is that now Mr. Hamilton apparently feels so starved for attention that he has to air this musty, dusty, and nasty bit of his dirty laundry in public.

Mr. Hamilton, save this sordid stuff for your therapist. It's nothing to boast about, and you are not helping anyone by talking about it publicly--at least, not in the manner in which you have chosen.

Part of the price of admission into daytime TV land is you've got to have something to 'confess' when you're on the couch. This is Donahue's and Oprah's and Jenny Jone's and Dr. Ruth's and Dr. Phil's and Geraldo's country and we only live in it. Child rape from the child's perspective is only the tip of the iceberg for daytime TV. One thing I get from this story, the 'Ozzie and Harriet' good-old-days were were much more sordid behind closed doors than people now want you to believe.

I wonder if this is the mother that Georgie used to dodge the Vietnam draft because he "had to stay home and care for her (his mother)"? I always found Hamilton to be a really smarmy character. Now it seems he's just creepy.
