Joe Biden

Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden calls McCain a longtime friend, but he said Thursday the Republican presidential candidate just isn't himself at this stage of the campaign.

"He seems a little more angry than he usually is," Biden told Jay Leno on NBC's "The Tonight Show," after Leno said McCain was making odd facial expressions during his debate Wednesday night with Democrat Barack Obama.

"John doesn't seem comfortable right now," Biden added.

"I don't think John is comfortable with the negative stuff in the advertising" being run by his campaign, Biden said at another point.

Biden, a Delaware senator, made a brief stop on Leno's stage in Burbank on his way to a fundraiser in Los Angeles. The two chatted about the economic crisis, the Iraq war and developments on the campaign trail as Nov. 4 closes in.

Biden has a reputation for verbal gaffes, and he assured Leno he'd be providing more fodder for late-night talk shows. Leno ribbed him about a slip-up at a rally in Ohio on Wednesday, when Biden referred to "a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S."

"I suspect I'll make a whole lot more," Biden said.

He credited Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin with driving up viewership of their debate, the second most-watched political matchup ever.

"I was a bit player in that debate," Biden concluded.

The 65-year-old Biden joked about his age, while poking at McCain, 72, who if elected would become the oldest first-term American president.

"The only guy older than me is John," he said.

Asked about Biden's claim that McCain seemed a bit cranky, McCain campaign spokesman Rick Gorka said, "John McCain is a fighter.

"People are hurting, they are upset and they want answers, and John McCain is the candidate that understands," Gorka said.

Biden later attended an outdoor fundraiser in Los Angeles attended by several hundred people, where tickets cost up to $5,000 and members of the band Maroon 5 entertained the crowd.

He urged supporters not to be lulled into complacency by polls showing Obama with an edge and warned of an onslaught of negative ads from their rivals that would come in the closing days of the campaign.

"This is no time for us to get cocky," said Biden, who was introduced by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. "We cannot take anything for granted."

I like Joe Biden. Barack made a smart choice by picking him. McCain shows his personality.. think for the moment, erratic and no vision. Palin is a disgrace.

The commonly used derogatory phrase loaded with all the arrogance the "upper class" could put into it used to be "Johnny Lunchbucket," in other words, someone who actually had to work for a living as opposed to someone who feeds off others like a tick.

Just that fact that we seem to now accept the term joe six pack just goes to show how far they've been able to sink our own estimation of ourselves and others who do the work that makes this country run.

I would proudly vote for Biden. I will never vote for a Republican now that I know what they really stand for. Republicans are a band of criminals who will do anything to win. They would rather steal an election than go down in defeat. Also I would never vote against my interest and America's interest. Republicans are running the country in the ground. They are bankrupting this country.

Choices:-
A presidential candidate that can pick and choose his No.2 (Obama)
or a presidential candidate that has his No2, pushed on him when he wanted someone else (McCain)

It's telling of what kind of man Biden is as opposed to what kind of man McCain is. Biden has continued to show kindness and respect to McCain even though he disagrees with his politics. On the other hand, McCain could barely bring himself to admit that Biden was more qualified to be POTUS when asked by Schieffer. He endorses his running mate taking pot shots at Biden and even defends her. McCain is no kind of friend. And it shows he can't be trusted.

If John McCain did have some integrity perhaps the young, inexperienced kids running his campaign are making him nervous due to their below the belt tactics. Those kids still don't get it either. Their robo calls. The public is sick of it. If they can't catch on to the focus group meters on the networks, then these kids need to never be part of anyone's campaign again.

When you go to Rove's School of Indoctrination or Camps for Repub Dogma, this is what you get.

Remember, no matter what the behavior----it's taught.

The only way to eradicate racism, bigotry, intolerance, hate and worse ills, is to teach our children above love, about sharing, about working together.

It's hypocritical to hear non-Christian words from fundamentalist mouths.

Perhaps they should think long and hard about that WWJD wristband they're wearing and what it really means.

She won't even talk to anyone in public because McCain is terrified she will give even more material to SNL. She is an embarassment to the party. She is also an in-your-face liar and pals around with secessionist.

Personally, I don't want to see the wealth spread around, but I would like to see the INCOME spread around, and moreover, the TAX BURDEN.

Someone needs to tell the McCain campaign the "spread the wealth around" narrative is a losing argument for them. An argument can be made (and a really good one), that the "wealth" as it were, has already been "spread around", to the wealthiest 2% of America, by the McBush tax giveaways.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:03 AM on 10/17/2008

This is really funny that they even mention this. It is McCain's view on this. He is rich and hangs out with other rich people and forgets when he talks to America that most of us are not rich. He didn't even know how much a plumber makes. He thought he made over $200,000 a year. Out of touch!!!

Don't think so. Is Social Security, Medicare "spreading the wealth"? The Repugs would love to do away with these programs. And others.

No, Repbulicans don't want to get rid of medicare and social security. Don't spread misinformation just because you are desperate.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:59 PM on 10/17/2008

Yes, you are COMPLETELY RIGHT. The 95% of us that are sick of being pillaged and plundered want a President that will spread the wealth back downwards. They don't need *another* Gulf V jet or 150' yacht when the whole country is falling apart.

For the country to not fall apart you need jobs. "rich" people create jobs. They will lay off workers and charge more for their products if they get a tax increase.

It isn't rocket science.

Can someone help me, is this negative ad a real ad or is it a parody of a Mccain ad? sorry I can't tell the difference anymore. It really is plausible that McCain would actually produce an ad like this. Fact is sometimes now really is stranger than fiction.

Yep, Obama and Biden are positive, upbeat, intelligent, compassionate, and great role models; we will all look to them for inspiration, motivation and confidence when they are in the white house. McBush and Smudged Lips are the opposite in every respect. I have no respect for either of them and switch channels whenever they come on tv. Very boring, liars, self-righteous, dividers.
