I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In a phone interview with CBS' Katie Couric, Joe Wurzelbacher said Barack Obama "tap dance[d] ... almost as good as Sammy Davis Jr." in their conversation. He also said he didn't actually make enough to fall into the group whose taxes would be raised under Obama -- but argued that it was a "slippery slope." Watch:

He admits that it's a slippery slope-- I'd like to point out that the term is used to describe logical fallacies-- aka, arguments that are wrong.

I think Joe is lame, but the media shouldn't look into the personal business of everyone who asks a candidate a question on the trail. It discourages talking to our politicians about our personal concerns and it's very bad for democracy.

Everyone who asks a simple question, shouldn't have to worry whether there will be some big inquiry into their motives for asking, their personal life, business, finances and reputation. It's just not right!

Joe made himself the issue. Joe goes on a TV blitz, so his personal business is now fare game. If you don't want to be in the public eye, don't go on TV and spout. He left himself wide open to be investigated.

Bollocks! Joe was a plant, and if you had any "common sense" at all you'd know that.

As far as I know, concerned citizens who have simply asked a question do not have camera crews filming their reactions during the debate, which clearly was the case here. Nor has the media looked inthe personal business of everyone who asks a candidate a question - get real! IF he is a Republican plant of some sort, then it is the media's responsibility to report it accordingly.

"He also said he didn't actually make enough to fall into the group whose taxes would be raised under Obama -- but argued that it was a 'slippery slope.' "

It's nice to see the little guy advocating for the big guys.... If Joe thinks his income from doing unlicensed plumbing jobs will approach $250k, especially in this messed up economy, he's deluded. Aspirational voting strikes again.

Just heard Joe the Plumber saying he supported the Iraq War and so what there were no weapons of mass destruction...Well, Joe, how are we going to pay for the war? I think Joe's taxes should be raised since he supported the war and mine should be lowered since I didn't....

Amen. I second that motion. Raise Joe's taxes and lower mine, too!

oooooo... now that's a GREAT idea!

Bet if the people who supported the war had to pay for it themselves they'd start whistling a different tune.

I realized last night that (1) I am in the wrong business, and (2) I am paying my plumber way too much if he is clearing a $250K profit. What a bunch of BS. Hey Joe, here's a slippery slope for you: nobody pays any taxes! No military, no schools, no law enforcement, no roads, no running water, nothing to stop ACME chemical plant down the road from poisoning your neighborhood, no FDIC to insure your bank deposits, no court system, no law and we all settle our disputes in the THUNDERODME!

You'd think the Republicans would have learned their lesson by now about "plumbers."

Anyone else find it ironic that "plumbers" was the name for the unit in Nixon's White House that was supposed to stop leaks and ended up breaking into the Watergate Hotel?

That didn't work out so well for Dick, did it?

There is a story on Dailykos that says Joe the plumber has a brother who lives in....Wasilla, AK. Don't know if it is true but that would make this story a lot more interesting.

Actually, it came into my mind that this guy was a Republican plant masquerading as an Obama supporter. I don't think there is any level below these people won't stoop to spread their lies and spin to what they deem their "base". Is anyone besides me sick to death of least-common denominator characters like "Joe the Plumber, Joe Six-Pack and Hockey Mom (or whatever the current sport du jour is)? It seems like reducing the American people to a cultural stereotype illustrates nothing except the Republican contempt and superior attitude that pervades the current political discourse. I actually don't know anyone who fits these archetypes. Most people are a lot more in tune with many aspects of life and can't be readily defined by these narrow cliches. Spare me any more of these stupid bottom-of-the-barrel stereotypes!

I wish someone would do a follow up on the legalities of Joe's assertion that he does not NEED to be licensed, because he does residential work for a COMPANY that is licensed...I don't know about Holland, Ohio, but in Colorado, COMPANIES cannot hire people for plumbing work without a valid Plumber's License...The Liability Insurance alone (not to mention Building Codes) don't allow for such silliness here...

Anyone in Ohio that could call your local Building Code dept. to find out???
