Madonna Hits "Emotionally Retarded" People At Post-Split Show (VIDEO)

The night after her divorce from Guy Ritchie was confirmed, Madonna slammed the "emotionally retarded" at during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Performing in Boston, Madonna introduced the song "Miles Away" (about a couple who grow apart) by saying, "This song is for the emotionally retarded. You might know a few people who fall into that category - god knows I do."

Guy Ritchie's last relevant film was Snatch. Her last relevant album was probably the one with Vogue on it. I think they should both pack it in, shut their mouths and for heaven's sake "Madonna" stop trying to stoke controversy with the Catholic Church. That bit has been done to death.

It's not conservatism, it's queasiness. She made it big by foregrounding her physical presence, inviting the gaze. Fine. That worked in 1985. But now she increasingly appears unwilling or unable to come to grips with the reality of being trapped in a 50-year-old body. It doesn't matter if she looks good relative to other 50-year-old women; no amount of cardio or resistance or diet can turn back the clock. She's trying to pull off just one more turn in her traditional style, but it might be time to find a different approach.
