I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Madonna

The night after her divorce from Guy Ritchie was confirmed, Madonna slammed the "emotionally retarded" at during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Performing in Boston, Madonna introduced the song "Miles Away" (about a couple who grow apart) by saying, "This song is for the emotionally retarded. You might know a few people who fall into that category - god knows I do."

The video is grainy, but you can hear her say it: (Scroll for the song's lyrics)

Lyrics to the song "Miles Away":
I just woke up from a fuzzy dream
You never would believe those things that I had seen
I looked in the mirror and I saw your face
You looked right through me, you were miles away

All my dreams they fade away
I'll never be the same
If you could see me the way you see yourself
I can't pretend to be someone else

You always love me more, miles away
I hear it in your voice, we're miles away
You're not afraid to tell me, miles away
I guess we're at our best when we're miles away

So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away

When no one's around then I have you here
I begin to see the picture, it becomes so clear
You always have the biggest heart,
When we're six thousand miles apart

Too much of no sound
Uncomfortable silence can be so loud
Those three words are never enough
When it's long distance love

You always love me more, miles away
I hear it in your voice, we're miles away
You're not afraid to tell me, miles away
I guess we're at our best when we're miles away

So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away

I'm alright, don't be sorry, but it's true
When I'm gone you'll realize
That I'm the best thing that happened to you

You always love me more, miles away
I hear it in your voice, we're miles away
You're not afraid to tell me, miles away
I guess we're at our best when we're miles a-a-away...

You always love me more, miles away
I hear it in your voice, we're miles away
You're not afraid to tell me, miles away
I guess we're at our best when we're miles away

So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away

When I look at Madonna, I see the future Mae West -- Without the Humor -- just an old woman trying to entice men with overt sexuality.

At least Miss West was a comedian. Here are a couple of her quotes that, eerily enough, could have come straight from Madonna:

"I never loved another person the way I loved myself. "

"It is better to be looked over than overlooked."

I have to archive who is Mae West before I can appreciate your post. But the quotes are quite loaded !

Surely you've heard to abbreviated quote, as delivered by MW, hand on swaying hip, "Come up and see my sometime."

Then again, you probably haven't.

She starred in many movies, starting in the '30s, sometimes with WC Fields. Know who he is?

She looked like an old hooker until the day she died in 1980 at age 87. Long blond wig, lots of make-up, revealing clothes, supposed to be sexy...

Here's a couple more:

"I didn't discover curves; I only uncovered them."

"She's the kind of girl who climbed the ladder of success wrong by wrong."

Look her up.

If I were to guess, I'd say the song is about Guy Ritchie. Just a guess. Don't even know the chap.

How many times are you going to post in an article about someone you don't like? Speaks volumes about you and says nothing about her.

And how many times are you going to slam critics for expressing their opinions about a public performance? Are you some kind of paid Madonna staffer who hates free speech?

Guy Ritchie's last relevant film was Snatch. Her last relevant album was probably the one with Vogue on it. I think they should both pack it in, shut their mouths and for heaven's sake "Madonna" stop trying to stoke controversy with the Catholic Church. That bit has been done to death.

Take your millions and go spend it enjoying what life has to offer to upper middle aged parents and their children. And stop torturing my retinas with your sorry, saggy, plasticized, botoxed body. It's just bad form.

Nobody's forcing you to watch Lock Stock and blah, blah, blah....or buy Madonna albums, so just calm down.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was brilliant.

her last best album was the one with vogue on it?? dude, what rock have you been under?? every "C D" she has relaeased since vogue has went to number 1 with the exception of one. lets see that would be 4 cd's that have reached number 1. think before you speak

I know it's too much to expect every hardcore fan to have a degree in logic, but can we point out that market success is not equivalent to artistic accomplishment? Just because something sells doesn't mean it's worthwhile. If that were true then G.W. Bush would be worthwhile, Britney Spears would be worthwhile, sub-prime loans would be worthwhile. Trendiness doesn't equal value. Think before you speak.

Lemme guess, ACDC fan? No wait, Kid Rock? or maybe Deff Lepperd, or lynard skynard. Or maybe I'm way off track and you're the Barry Manilow type, or the Garth Brooks type. When will we learn not to cut each other down for liking different things?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:47 PM on 10/16/2008

Oh Furby,
Now you're just being hurtful. I do find humor in the fact that you believe that someone who doesn't care for madonna's later work must be a fan of something as ignorant as Kid Rock or Garth Brooks. I hate to break it to you but it just shows the limits of your musical vocabulary. And then, after ripping on my musical tastes you try to take the high road and say, "When will we learn...." Truly weak. You're outclassed and outgunned here. Go back to the madonna fanboy page.

Ritchie had a relevant film? Did it have car chases in it? That's all I know of his movies. Never seen one of his or one with Madonna. I hear she reeks.

Why should she? Because YOU think she should. What is with this conservative streak in people telling them what they should or shouldn't be doing when they are grown adults?

It's not conservatism, it's queasiness. She made it big by foregrounding her physical presence, inviting the gaze. Fine. That worked in 1985. But now she increasingly appears unwilling or unable to come to grips with the reality of being trapped in a 50-year-old body. It doesn't matter if she looks good relative to other 50-year-old women; no amount of cardio or resistance or diet can turn back the clock. She's trying to pull off just one more turn in her traditional style, but it might be time to find a different approach.

Will we be forced to view Britney's splayed inner thigh leather in 2030?

So Guy Ritchie decided to trade her in for a newer model!

The last I heard, Madonna was shagging one of the New York Yankees and Guy had to fly over to NY to make her stop.

Good for Guy Ritchie getting away from that narcissistic tramp.
