I Like ItI Don’t Like It

John McCain put out a one-minute ad Thursday morning that is noteworthy on a number of fronts: the Senator speaks directly into the camera, he admonishes the Bush years, and he never mentions Barack Obama by name.

Tilted "Fight," the spot seems transparent in its purpose: paint McCain as the candidate railing against Bush's record and Obama as the product of D.C. Note the quotes he highlights in the script.

"The last eight years haven't worked very well, have they?" the Senator says. "I'll make the next four better. Your savings, your job and your financial security are under siege. Washington is making it worse -- bankrupting us with their spending. Telling us paying higher taxes is "patriotic"? And saying we need to "spread the wealth around"?"

It's interesting to note that hours before the McCain camp put out this spot, Barack Obama's team had an ad of its own reminding voters that the Arizona Republican has supported George Bush 90 percent of the time, often on the vital issues.

That ad, and McCain's record, have made it difficult for him to effectively break from his party leadership. It's hard to imagine that he will be able to do so in the next three weeks.

Yeah, and maybe if he had been running these kinds of ads all season, he might have been in a better position now.

This is too little, too late.

We DO need to spread the wealth around. It's called progressive taxes.

Really, why does he keep trying to hammer the whole "let's help out the rich!" thing?

And how can he claim "new direction" when his proposal for bigger tax cuts for the rich (trickle down) is the exact same thing that Bush tried, and that failed?

This ad is going to lose him more votes than it gains.

Wow, that must be reassuring to middle class families who just lost everything thanks to Bush-McCain economics.
Your savings? We will rebuild them...
Your investments? Ohh, don't worry they grow again...

Why didn't he just say: Lost a job? Don't worry, now you have more free time...
Lost a house? Oh, enjoy the beautiful sky

And apparently his house is built on an oil well or why else would he say: We will drill here.

No! You're not! But, you're his staunchest supporter! And, the upholder is WORSE than the thief!

This appears to me to be an attempted "do over" of his closing remarks from last night's debate, you know, the ones in which he spoke only of himself and failed to say what he would do for the people of the country? Yeah, those.

Sen. McCain, you don't get a do-over for last night's performance and we're not giving you a do-over for the past 8 (or is it 25+) years either.

Here’s what Obama just said at a fundraiser this morning: “For those of you who are feeling giddy or cocky and think this is all set, I just say one word. I guess it’s two words for you: New Hampshire. I’ve been in these positions before where we were favored and the press starts getting carried away and we end up getting spanked. And so that’s another good lesson that Hillary Clinton taught me.”

It's "Wash-ing-ton" John, Not "WaRASH-ing-ton." You've been there over twenty years, surely you should be able to pronounce it.

He said it right. Its what he see when he thinks about the Whitehouse. WAR. Thats all he know.

Thank you... that pronunciation has been driving me UP THE WALL for weeks. Glad it's not just my (occasionally overly-) critical ear.

So here we go again.
John McCain
Change - I am a CHANGE - Obama is not
Bush - I am not BUSH - Obama is
Economy - I am the best - Obama increases taxes
Army - I am the best - Obama is naive
Veterans - I will take care of them - Obama is naive
Fixing - I know how to fix anything you need - Obama is naive
LIAR - I AM - Obama is NOT
I just hope women finally see what about old Johny is. Final straw was given last night when he did fun of health of woman in connection with pregnancy and abortion. John McCain is women hater with exceptions for beauty pageants and American Idol types. I now fully understand why he dumped his first wife. He just refuses that women could have health problems and were sick.
This is the guy who was visiting Brazil and who knows which other countries to have easily women when his own wife was sick. It is the guy who says women needs more training and education to be equally paid. It is sickening.

McCain reminds me of the creepy old man, Kane, form Poltergeist II. The resemblance is uncanny, yellow teeth etc... Carol Anne, are you lost sweetheart?
