PORTLAND, Ore. — Nike Inc. has sued Wal-Mart Stores Inc., alleging the giant retailer is selling shoes that infringe on Nike's patented designs.

Nike says in its complaint, filed Monday, that the Wal-Mart shoes too closely resemble its Nike Shox footwear. Those shoes have a spring-like device in the heel.

Nike wants the world's largest retailer to stop selling the shoes and seeks damages, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Wal-Mart said it does not comment on pending litigation.

Nike does not sell its products in Wal-Mart and has long argued that its brand would be devalued if sold in discount chains.

And they're probably made in CHINA, the land of knockoffs, copyright violation and patent infringement.

Well it is a shame that Nike shoes fall apart after a couple months, they're cheaply made and do not hold up. Nike needs to get it's act together because their shoes are like walmart's cheap shoes already.

Only you can buy ten pair at Wal Mart for what one pair of Nike's will cost you.

Sorry, but Phil Knight is a sweatshop owner, and I won't wear his damnedshoes.

You think Walmart is any better?

Both corporations are evil.

I've a pair similar to the yellow and green monstrosity pictured. No stupid logo, but just like nike, the walmart shoes fall apart after 2 months too.

What Nikes are you wearing? I have been wearing them for years because they are just about the only shoe I've found that works well with my feet for work. All shoes break down internally over 3 months with daily wear. (That is why the experts suggest you let your shoes rest for at least a day between wearings) The leather gets scuffed sure, but that's because most shoe manufacturers dye the leather on the surface only.
I usually pay 39.95 for them since I am not bothered about whether it's an up-to-the-minute design, and I have never ever had a pair fall apart. I have several that I rotate, and after I can't wash them to where they look acceptable I get rid of them.
