In addition to launching a massive robocall campaign raising Obama's past association with Bill Ayers as a campaign issue, the Republican National Committee is out with a vicious attack mailer suggesting that the Democratic nominee is not just soft on terror, but willing to talk to terrorist leaders.

In a pamphlet forwarded to the Huffington Post by a Virginia reader, the RNC claims that Obama "thinks terrorists just need a good talking to." Obama has never said such a thing. Rather, he has discussed the need to open up diplomatic dialogues with heads of state, whether friends or foe.

The first page of the mailer contains a shot of a individuals standing at an airport window with a large plane outside -- obviously designed to evoke memories of the 9/11 hijackings.

"Terrorists Don't Care Who They Hurt," it reads.

Inside is a list of Obama quotes designed to paint Obama as a weak-kneed diplomat, too willing to meet "unconditionally" with leaders of rogue states.

"Islamic extremists want our laws changed, our culture destroyed and our families converted. We don't. What is there to talk about?" the mailer asks.

The ad amplifies charges that the RNC and McCain campaign have made against Obama in other forums, and comes amidst a veritable downpour of behind-the-scenes GOP attacks against the Illinois Democrat. In addition to the Ayers-themed attack, Talking Points Memo has documented four McCain/RNC robocalls running in multiple states:

* One that questions Obama's patriotism by saying he put "Hollywood above America" during the financial crisis.

* One that says that Obama and Dems "aren't who you think they are" and claims they merely "say" they want to keep us safe.

* One that attaches Obama to "domestic terrorist Bill Ayers," whose group "killed Americans."

* And one claiming that: "Barack Obama callously denied newborns needed medical attention by opposing a measure to force doctors to preserve their lives when they survive botched abortions."

If you receive any notable political mailings (from the RNC or anyone else), please let us know.

The lying is likely to intensify. And let's be clear. This is not about an argument, or an opinion. This is about an agenda pure and simple to attempt to tarnish and diminish our candidate. We need to fight back and fight back hard. Every time one of these despicable acts shows up, make sure all the media know about. The campaign must hit back hard, make TV ads showing McCain's hypocrisy. This is not about issues anymore. These people will literally do anything - they have already in several elections - and we must stop them. Don't think for a minute that there aren't lots of voters out there willing to fall for it.

Except the media won't report on it -- unless they can find something that Obama did and blow it up to make it look comparable. Like McCain sends out flyers stating that Obama is a terrorist. Obama sent out flyers saying that McCain was lying about his tax plan. Now the media can report "oh! Both campaigns are at it again -- one calling the other a terrorist and the other calling one a liar. When will it ever stop!" The equivocation is mindboggling.

All Politics are LOCAL.

Every single Republican & GOP McBush candidate on the down ticket during this election cycle must be voted down or out of office.

These people have no limitations. I guess this is why a friend of mine said she does not admit publicly that she is a Republican.

The most likely reason she won't admit to it is she doesn't want to start you guys going off on the offensive. It's not worth getting your tires slashed. It is WAY harder to be anything other than a Liberal Democrat these days, in that you actually have to see beyond the horizon, dig beneath the surface, do the research, verify the facts, and put up with the liberals, (who long ago and faraway used to be the ones with the open minds, and had the ability to see all sides.). Nowadays, they are the first ones to be totally taken in by the first slick talkin', radical, absolute PHONY that comes around the pike, with no record of any significance, and little if any real leadership skills, and they are turned into Obamazombies that will follow this weasel into the sunset at any cost, without doing ANY fact checks. Now, I don't know about the Hollywood claim, and the terrorist thing may or may NOT be a stretch, but the other 2 ARE THE HONEST TRUTH. He outright lied last night about his position and vote record regarding late term abortions. So if you have the stomach for it, do the research and learn the facts for yourself. (And btw, Bill Ayers is the LAST person about which to be concerned in regard to his pattern of associating with dangerous and America hating thugs.)

Boo hoo! Poor little victim. Apparently it is way easier to paint yourself as some kind of put upon martyr for your cause. As one of those registered Independents who refuses to pledge blind allegiance to either dominant party, I especially disdain the tactics of the Republican far-right(not the entire party- I would've voted for John McCain 8 years ago if I had been given the chance) and their incessant whining and least common denominator brand of politicking. Appealing to "White" Americans and their fear of losing "their" country will only lead to a very violent end. If you feel that entitled to only your particular vision of what America should be you leave no room for debate and mutual respect and therefor leave no room for Democracy. How much more of an America-hating thug can you be?

Do what actually works

A new study from the RAND Corporation examined how 648 terror groups around the world ended between 1968 and 2006. It found that by far the most common way for them to disappear was to be absorbed by the political process. The second most common way was to be defeated by police work. In contrast, in only 7 percent of cases did military force destroy the terrorist group.

"There is no battlefield solution to terrorism," the report declares. "Military force usually has the opposite effect from what is intended."

If Ayers is so dangerous, why wasn't he ever convicted.
Why isn't he in jail or under surveillance?
Also, the only "Americans" who died were the terrorists themselves. All the lies are sickening.

For the upteenth time, he got off on a wiretapping technicality. Otherwise he would have done hard time like his wife did. He said on being released - "Guilty as hell, free as a bird. America is a great country."

Oliver North got off on a technicality too. And he sold missiles to the Iranians. You know, those people we don't like. Now he has his own show on Fox.

That "technicality" was illegal wire tapping. The Weathermen broke into the FBI field office that held the evidence against them and stole it.

Our government decided it was above the law. They failed. That's why he got off.

They just have no clue how they are turning the majority of the American public off with this. They don't get that the whole world is watching. I am afraid if he wins no one will want to deal with him and that is going to make our standing in the world sink even lower than Bush made it.

I use to respect John McCain as a politician but I can't possibly do that anymore. It's a shame for him that his desperation has allowed him to let this sort of rhetoric be manifested by his campaign. And I'm ashamed of him because he knows that it could very well incite actual violence, which now seems like that could be a subconscious desire.
For all of you out there who are undecided or Republican, this is coming from a daughter of a 3 time war veteran who gets their information from publicly funded bipartisan media. My father would have to agree that even some of his war policies aren't correct. His smear campaign is one of them.

I live in Pennsylvania and for the last week I have been getting mailers from McCains campaign. I wonder how they got my address because I am registered as a democrat. Anyway, what a waste of money for them because as soon as I see it is from the republicans, I just throw it away without reading.

Two can play this game!!

Together with questions who is Sarah, also who is Todd Palin?
1. Recent association with AIP. Only resigned membership 1 month ago. http://www.akip.org/
2. Registered as Repub 1 month ago.
3. Far too much interaction giving orders/directions to State Employees. Founded in Troopergate report, he's camped in Governor's office. Receives copies of emails of government business which is confidential. Not a sworn in so can spread info. Same situation in Wasilla - Mayor. Interaction with Legislators, Commissioners?

It's not like First Lady special interst programs. Not just pillow talk. Access to citizens private information.

4. It raises issue because of his deep roots in troopergate new issue. Building of home. Mile from sports complex just prior to Mayor leaving office. At time of awarding contracts & building of complex. In interview, stated it was him and contractor buddies who built it. During governor campaign. No permits. No inspections. Here is link to msnbc & Village Voice raising questions -- valid as so much information been brought to light to give serious question to issue. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#27170427

Same people involved as with Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska, presently on trial accused of not reporting over $250,000 in gifts and home renovations that he did not report on his Senate financial disclosure forms. Stevens was Sarah's mentor. She learned from the best it seems as it appears she may have done the exact same thing.
