In addition to launching a massive robocall campaign raising Obama's past association with Bill Ayers as a campaign issue, the Republican National Committee is out with a vicious attack mailer suggesting that the Democratic nominee is not just soft on terror, but willing to talk to terrorist leaders.

In a pamphlet forwarded to the Huffington Post by a Virginia reader, the RNC claims that Obama "thinks terrorists just need a good talking to." Obama has never said such a thing. Rather, he has discussed the need to open up diplomatic dialogues with heads of state, whether friends or foe.

The first page of the mailer contains a shot of a individuals standing at an airport window with a large plane outside -- obviously designed to evoke memories of the 9/11 hijackings.

"Terrorists Don't Care Who They Hurt," it reads.

Inside is a list of Obama quotes designed to paint Obama as a weak-kneed diplomat, too willing to meet "unconditionally" with leaders of rogue states.

"Islamic extremists want our laws changed, our culture destroyed and our families converted. We don't. What is there to talk about?" the mailer asks.

The ad amplifies charges that the RNC and McCain campaign have made against Obama in other forums, and comes amidst a veritable downpour of behind-the-scenes GOP attacks against the Illinois Democrat. In addition to the Ayers-themed attack, Talking Points Memo has documented four McCain/RNC robocalls running in multiple states:

* One that questions Obama's patriotism by saying he put "Hollywood above America" during the financial crisis.

* One that says that Obama and Dems "aren't who you think they are" and claims they merely "say" they want to keep us safe.

* One that attaches Obama to "domestic terrorist Bill Ayers," whose group "killed Americans."

* And one claiming that: "Barack Obama callously denied newborns needed medical attention by opposing a measure to force doctors to preserve their lives when they survive botched abortions."

If you receive any notable political mailings (from the RNC or anyone else), please let us know.

I agree. This is reckless endangerment! And if , God forbid, anything happened to Senator Obama it would also extinguish the light of hope he has given to us all. I remember all too well the pain of losing President Kennedy, Dr. King and Senator Kennedy.

Can't someone make McCain, Palin, RNC stop this irresponsible behavior? This should be illegal...Isn't this libel or slander?? I feel so helpless, as I sit here and witness this sick, greedy, ugly, hateful "campaign" As I watch them incite violence among their followers. I pray for Sen Obama's safety and for the safety of our country. This makes me so, so sad.....

Anyone who would fall for this is just ignorant. So I guess that's the new GOP constituency.

I have already voted for Obama in Missouri..... and so have my friends....

I am still thinking that this type of crap is going to back fire....

We KNOW who Obama is.... and we see and smell fear and loathing from the GOP....

in past elections, the fear was on the Dem side and the wolves smelled it..... this time.. the fear is on the GOP side and WE SMELL IT and find it hilarious as they pull out all the lies that they can think of to bring the Nation down...... LOL!!!!!

Maybe they should be spending all that money helping the people who are losing their homes and can't buy this week's groceries because they had to fill up their gas tanks to get to work.... a generation of children growing up on what we college kids resorted to when we were in college...
RAMEN NOODLES

It won't work this year, folks... be strong and believe... there are better days coming!

Voting for either major party is a waste since.

1 - The republican party is headed by the criminals Bush and Cheney.

2 - by not impeaching the above criminals the Democrats are no better.

Of course, the bigger waste is voting for a party with no chance of winning instead of the one that most closely matches your ideals.

By the way, even if the Democrats had impeached George Bush it would have been a waste of time and money as a two-thirds majority is required to CONVICT him, smart guy.

"Islamic extremists want our laws changed, our culture destroyed and our families converted. We don't. What is there to talk about?" the mailer asks. So? We want to destroy islamic culture, convert families and change laws. GWB said so.

The Republican assault in the name of their candidate has gone too far. It's time for Obama to sue John McCain, Sarah Palin, the RNC and Puppeteers Karl Rove and Dick Cheney--for slander AND now for libel.

An average citizen, faced with assaults on his character thus, would sue. I think Obama should seriously consider this option.

Now THIS is they type of stuff they were saving until AFTER the last debate so they would not have to answer for it face to face on live TV.

The MSM and I mean the ENTIRE MSM should come down HARD on the GOP for these unbelieveble and DISHONORABLE Tactics.

This is a whole new low for our country and anyone who lets it happen without action is culpable.

Regarding the MSM, don't hold your breath. They won't say a word about it. Guaranteed.

This says things about the Republican National Committee that I find completely frightening. Firstly, they have a low opinion of the intelligence and understanding of the American public. Secondly, they must genuinely think that John McCain is capable of being president.

This just makes me sad and sick to my stomach. It serves the lowest in mankind and certainly SHOULD NOT be coming from the party of one of the two candidates running for President.

McCain said in last night's debate that he has always "REPUDIATED" any negative comments that have been circulated on behalf of his campaign. Where is McCain on this OR the negative RoboCalls? McCain/Palin are really showing themselves to be power hungry and at all costs.

I would never TRUST McCain or Palin to run this country. Let's hope all of these lies, divisive behavior and negativity continue to backfire and work against them. Hopefully they will REAP WHAT THEY SOW.

International Oil Trading Company, which ships oil into Iraq for use by U.S. forces, “appears to have engaged in a reprehensible form of war profiteering,” according to the House Oversight Committee. The company is run by Florida businessman Harry Sargeant, who has raised at least $500,000 for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). From Rep. Henry Waxman’s (D-CA) letter to Defense Secretary Robert Gates:

[T]he prices IOTC has charged the government are not “fair and reasonable.” A “price negotiation memorandum” assessing the company’s June 2004 contract concluded that the price charged by IOTC, $2.10 per gallon of jet fuel, was at least 36 cents per gallon too high. … Of the $210 million in profits received by the company, at least one third — $70 million — appears to have benefited a single individual: Mr.

This is reckless endangerment. Americans and much of the world will never forgive the Republican party if what they seem determined to make happen actually transpires. My God, the depravity of it. As McCain said, this is a decent FAMILY man. What you do to him, you do to his family, and to the nation, too. All to maintain the greedy status quo.

I am with you on this. On the one hand Sen. McCain criticizes Obama for wanting to attack OBN in Pakistan if the Pakistani government is unable or unwilling to act (because you just don't do that or say it aloud, my friends) and then accuses him of wanting to talk to terrorists. For me, very worrisome is the dove-tailing of the message of launching his career in the living room of a domestic terrorist with one that he is soft on Islamic terrorists. McCarthy is alive and well.

You are right; this is sick ! The sooner Sen. McCain returns to the Senate, the better for me. Better still, to lose his seat after this hateful campaign of his would be justice in that his constituents no longer want to hear his voice on these issues.
