MESILLA, N.M. — Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden mocked rival Sarah Palin's comment in North Carolina that she loves visiting "pro-America" parts of the country, arguing that the entire nation is patriotic.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I have never been to a state that hasn't sent its sons and daughters to serve its country," Biden said Friday in New Mexico as the crowd booed Palin's reported comments. "It doesn't matter where you live, we all love this country. And I hope it gets through that one of the reasons why Barack (Obama) and I are running is that we know how damaging the policy of division ... has been.

"We are one nation, under God, indivisible," Biden shouted to the crowd. "We are all patriotic, we all love this country."

According to published reports, Palin told a North Carolina fundraiser Thursday that the best of America was not in Washington, D.C., but in small towns like the one in Alaska where she served as mayor.

"Being here with all of you hardworking, very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation. This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans," the Republican vice presidential candidate said.

The Obama campaign issued a news release asking reporters what part of the country isn't pro-America.

While campaigning in New Mexico, Biden said Republican presidential nominee John McCain "has been bequeathed tactics of Karl Rove in the last few weeks" and warned that the final days of the campaign will get ugly.

Addressing a crowd of several hundred in the Old Mesilla plaza, Biden urged supporters to ignore what they hear from McCain and concentrate on the change that the Democratic ticket promises. "You're going to see some really tough stuff," Biden said.

New Mexico has become a critical battleground state where Democrats see a real shot of making up the narrow gap that gave the state to President Bush in 2004.

Biden said fewer than 6,000 votes separated Bush and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry in the last election, a gap that could easily be made up with a strong showing in early voting.

"Our job isn't going to be done until you cast your ballot," Biden said. "It's going to take all of us here today."

"Being here with all of you hardworking, very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation. This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans," The hypocritical nature of both poltical parties discourages real progress and constructive work. The money spent on the campaigns themselves could have already changed the world a couple of times over.

Bidens best line ... voter voting for John McCain is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

Is Wasilla really pro-America? Isn't that where the "first dude" belonged to the AIP secessionist party? Secessionist and pro-America are a contradiction of terms, except in the minds of a secessionist.

Perhaps Palin doesn't know that her running mate, John McCain, spent most of his formative years living in Washington, DC from the age of nine through his early twenties. His family had a house on Capitol Hill, where Congressional leaders (the Georgetown cocktail club and other such elitists) regularly dropped by for meals. And when he returned from Vietnam in 1973, he lived and worked in Washington, D.C for another four more years.

Uh, does this mean that -- according to Sarah Palin's rule of thumb -- John McCain is not "the best of America" ?

If Sarah Palin had intellectual curiosity, or a decent education, she would know the difference between patriotism and nationalism.

Patriotism is a love of country that drives people to speak out, sharpening the iron so that the country can be the best it can be.

Nationalism is the "us against them" mentality that punishes any form of dissent.

Patriotism is what started (and has sustained) this great country of ours, nationalism begat the Holocaust. May God protect us if nationalism wins.

Well said! Let's hope that after this is over, there will be reconciliation with rational (and true) conservatives. This paranoid, polarizing way of thinking is a dead-end. It is a division within the right as well. The quiet ones will speak volumes in the privacy of the voting booth.
Know and thoughtful GOP members? Encourage them to come out for the health of their own party and vote Obama/Biden. Otherwise this paranoid streak of rhetoric will be the death of the GOP. This is not how it began!

I am sorry, but I don't think Palin loves America. Her husband wants to secede from it, and the group she supports hates America and our government. Once again, we see projection of lies onto the people who love and support the Constitution by those who would rip it to shreds.

Mcain/ Palin = dishonerable, pathetic, desperate, unpatriotic

McCain and Palin are white supremacists.
That is as anti-America as you can get.
How dare they question anyone's patriotism when everything they say and do aims to destroy this country.

they should be in Gitmo.

"The stupid people of America are the ones who still believe one single word out of Palin's mouth".
Yes, protagonia, but there a lot, a whole lot, of scared, stupid people who do believe her. This is going to get really ugly now that McCain has taken this road of division to try to pull his fat out of the fire. Check out Chris Mathew's interview with Rep. Bachmann from Minnesota (posted on Huff) to see where this is going. And believe me there are millions who will respond to this line of "reasoning". We can't let Obama lose this election, we can't let the Republican's steal Ohio and/or Florida again, if we do we can expect to see the shreded remains of our constitution burned along with the liberal "witches" by America's stupid, vicious and racist elements.

This is so wonderful, I wish people would listen. Palin is about dividing a great country. What did Bush say to the world?, you are either with us or against us. That is the type of person Palin is a divider, because she is insecure and can't take criticism. Biden is a uniter, if God forbid something would happen to Obama, we would still have a great president.
