Media Matters:

From October 6 through October 15, CNN ran at least 54 segments mentioning allegations that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now [ACORN] submitted allegedly false or duplicate voter registration applications this year in a number of states, according to a Media Matters for America search* of the Nexis database. But only one of those segments mentioned both of the following two relevant points: 1) that the statutes of most of those states require third parties registering prospective voters to submit all registration forms they receive; and 2) that actual instances of illegal votes being cast as a result of registration fraud are extremely rare. Indeed, in an October 10 press release, ACORN noted that "in almost every state we are required to turn in ALL completed applications, even the ones we know to be problematic." And in a 2007 report titled "The Truth About Voter Fraud," New York University's Brennan Center for Justice stated, "[W]e are aware of no recent substantiated case in which registration fraud has resulted in fraudulent votes being cast." Of the 54 CNN segments addressing the allegations against ACORN, two mentioned only the former of those two points, while one mentioned just the latter.

It's a disgraceful assault on the psyche of a post 9/11 country. To systematicly attack Obama as unpatriotic,a

friend of terrorists, and comparing him to Osama. They are trying to insite terror and fear which could result in

riots. We are looking to terror atacks outside our counrty when we should be looking at attacks inside our own( not

so souvereign borders).Thier actions are Treasonable and unamerican.

Go ahead and google CNN and biased. You will get so much about them being accused of loving Obama a little too much. SO they are trying really hard to avoid that accusation. It is so obvious. But you know what? They can report and be fair but they need to be RESPONSIBLE. This is really upsetting people these nitwits really believe that OBAMA is stealing the election when no such thing is happening. The GOP is using ACORN as a reason to justify voter suppression. And CNN is aiding them in that! This is dividing the country. They can be fair and report that there are tens of thousands of bogus registered voters but they will not affect the actual voting on election day. They do not show that it is some dumb workers making $8 hour and trying to fill a quota and get paid for nothing. They could report BOTH. THEN people can make up their minds. And as far as OBAMA, THIS is what ticks me off. His involvement was that he was an attorney working WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE to help voters register at the DMV. THe DOJ was his partner in crime in the 90s.

Please please contact CNN and complain abou this.

For those of you wondering about Jack Cafferty’s disappearance like I am, who don’t click onto threads --Jack had time off after his wife passed but came back and resumed his two five minute daily question segments -- UNTIL he asked the question, “Is Sarah Palin qualified to be VP?” Wolf Blitzer in his usual sneaky manner made some kind of dumb remark defending her. Jack quite bluntly told him, “Don’t make excuses for her!” which was appropriate. Jack lasted one or two days after that happened. I expect he’s being punished! He should have an hour a day instead of the two five minute question segments but that would be too much truth for CNN to take!

One would think they (Wolf Blitzer) could muster up enough decency to tell the public WHY Jack is not there but that’s not how the business works. His corporate neo-con bosses wouldn’t approve! Instead, we hear four little words day after day, “Jack is off today”. He sure has had a lot of “days off” since that incident happened? The only reason I tune in now is to see if Jack is back. When I hear the “Jack is off today” line – I’m outta there!

CNN is never to be taken as anything but the Right Wing's attempt to be "balanced" by providing news just right of Center. They are still corporate, still unable to do much in the way of actual investigative journalism, and always driven by the advertising dollars--which come from Big Corporate that rules Washington.

PBS has gotten that way as well, because even if they are not using straight out commercials, they still depend on much of their money from Big Corporate funding, as the same Right Wing has managed to decimate their government funding and individuals don't/can't increase their membership spending.

Until the Fairness Doctrine is reinstated on the media (something Faux Spews Hannity constantly rants against as if it would REMOVE fairness--since of course a channel like Faux would cease to exist as it currently is) and until public funding is reinstated as well, there will be less and less liberal viewpoint on the media. They're trying to take the Internet, too!

Steal Your Vote Back!!!

Griffin/Dobbs belong on FOX with their tinfoil hats.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: ACORN never hired Obama as a trainer, organizer, or any type of employee.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.

In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called “Motor Voter,” Barack received the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995.

We must not ALLOW the REPUBLICANS to PULL thousands of votes out of OHIO!

We can not ALLOW another 2004 in Ohio and 2000 in Florida!

Acorn tries to register lower income voters and because of a "SLIM" budget hires lower income workers! A very small percentage of these workers do not understand how important being "right" is when registering voters. A minor percentage of voter registrations appear to be in question.

I could not find any website that mentions the % of invalid registered voters so it is probably very small.

The fact is a small percentage does not matter to Repubs who play this in four ways:

1. Prevent valid low income registered voters from voting.
2. A campaign issue which tries to play the "race card" again.
3. Deflect from 2000 Florida and 2004 Ohio that many believe were manipulated by Republicans.
4. To explain why McCain lost as he clearly is doing.

We must keep up our guard and make sure all valid registered voters are able to exercise their rights.

We must make sure computer hackers are not allowed to manipulate the tallies (two numbers) by doing one minute printouts of the tallies in each state so auditing is easier.

We must raise the issue of voter fraud by Republicans!

We all recognize that CNN is in the tank for McCain. Now Glenn Beck hops over to FAUX. Rather then having them have to move, maybe Murdock would just take over CNN. Ted Turner has to be sick over how low CNN has sunk.

You have to recognize that the state of Maine has more high school drop-outs than any other state north of the Mason/Dixon line. Perfect dupes for that fundi crap.

Ok, I resend that accusation and offer my apologies Viking...

Let' not be shocked by CNN's reporting. They should be lumped with the same media outlets that fed us propaganda all the way up to the war in Iraq.

Someone mentioned below, and I think the accusation bears repeating, true or not. That being that Viking is Paid Poster. His profile is roughly a month old and he is posting the same argument about ACORN on multiple threads as well as commenting on Elizabeth Hassleback's hotness.

Hey Viking, they hired a bunch of Criminals because the Governor of Nevada (in that case) asked them to. You say that ACORN people have gone to jail every election for the last 10 years, then 1) cite your source, 2) if you're referring to Presidential elections, that means only two election cycles. Worse case scenario, 5 cycles.

This is just another whining point for Republicans that like to scream voter fraud, when they are suppressing votes and have been doing so for decades. Check out the footage of the ReThug and his supporters, found here on huffpo, guffawing at the suggestion that they don't suppress votes.
