Media Matters:

From October 6 through October 15, CNN ran at least 54 segments mentioning allegations that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now [ACORN] submitted allegedly false or duplicate voter registration applications this year in a number of states, according to a Media Matters for America search* of the Nexis database. But only one of those segments mentioned both of the following two relevant points: 1) that the statutes of most of those states require third parties registering prospective voters to submit all registration forms they receive; and 2) that actual instances of illegal votes being cast as a result of registration fraud are extremely rare. Indeed, in an October 10 press release, ACORN noted that "in almost every state we are required to turn in ALL completed applications, even the ones we know to be problematic." And in a 2007 report titled "The Truth About Voter Fraud," New York University's Brennan Center for Justice stated, "[W]e are aware of no recent substantiated case in which registration fraud has resulted in fraudulent votes being cast." Of the 54 CNN segments addressing the allegations against ACORN, two mentioned only the former of those two points, while one mentioned just the latter.

At one time I was an avid CNN viewer. I don't watch at all anymore because I am sick of the bias they show, although they will deny, deny, deny it. From Lou Dobbs to Wolf, and the worst, Glenn Beck, the entire station is a mess. I peek at Larry King every so often but rarely anymore.

This issue about Acorn though needs to be brought out in the open because many people are afraid about it and it isn't even true.

How many of us have taken the opportunity to VOTE EARLY? I went today, had to wait 3 hours in Fulton County Georgia. One of the Pollsters said 16,000 vote the day before. Great Job Folks.

I voted absentee here in the upper midwest - chose that great moment after the last debate when I was proudest of Obama.

If you care about our veterans and this country of ours...

...Don't vote for John McCain.

McCain voted against our troops MANY times in the senate.

John McCain voted AGAINST 20 million dollars for veteran care facilities.

John McCain voted AGAINST $322 million for safety equipment for our troops in Iraq.

John McCain voted AGAINST $1 billion dollars in new equipment for the National Guard.

John McCain voted AGAINST Jim Webb's G.I. Bill.

John McCain voted AGAINST $430 million for veterans outpatient care.

Barack voted FOR all of these troop support initiatives.

They deserve better than McCain.

We deserve better than McCain.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT

I do wish Obama had pummeled McCain for that lying crap he slung in the debate about how he loves the people who come to his rallies, and I think that is when he (McCain) tried to tie veterans to his rallies. He said how much he loves them, how much he fights for them. Bull! McCain has no shame in what he will lie about. He doesn't care about veterans and his son being in the service has nothing to do with him. Maybe his son went into the service to get away from him!

I rarely, if ever, watch CNN but kudos go to Rick Sanchez for running the story of the Palins and the AIP the other day; the was the best and most informative coverage of her scandal ridden life that I have seen anywhere other than Olbermann or Rachel.

Time Warner doesn't want an Obama Presidency so they are engaging in a low key version of Fox News "journalism".

The MSM is owned a few large corporations. This is a receipe for biased reporting. If you want unbiased reporting everyone needs to start watching BBC America news. Actually, the British have hard hitting,no nonsense reporting; not afraid to ask the tough questions. The reporting in the USA is now a joke compared to the real reporters of the early and mid 20th century.

Granted dems, we have a higer percentage of college educated among our base, however there are two things the rethugs definitely have us beat at: Lying and cheating. They are masters of both. I am starting to believe it is in their DNA. There are two P's they are also skilled at, Projection and Preemptive Strikes. Clinical Psychologists would have a field day with just one rethug on their couch. Trust me, they would only need one, because two or more would result in the Psychologist in need of professional help.

CNN is accused of possibly misleading the public? I doubt that. Though what I have always questioned about CNN......was the hiring of Aaron Brown and Paula Zahn on a Tuesday morning to start their careers when Monday was not a holiday. The foresight with which to know that just hours later on that very Tuesday morning.....2 planes would crash into the World Trade Centers. That kind of outstanding foresight MUST be investigated....or at the very least....questioned. ps.....never in US national TV broadcast news history had an anchor been hired to start on a Tuesday, when monday was not a holiday, in the 60 year history of broadcast news. And CNN did it twice on the morning of 9-11 in the same city, same office, same location, just minutes before 9-11!!!! Can anyone establish the odds? And it has not happened since?

I have stopped watching CNN, they are so disgusting. And Lou Dobbs is the biggest fake walking. He claims to be Mr. Independent but is usually a mouthpiece for the right-wing Obama haters. He hates Obama with a passion. He blast-mouths ACORN as left-wing radicals, when they are actually socially-minded liberals who are doing their best to counteract the evils of right-wing racism and voter intimidation against minorities and the poor. The ACORN matter does not involve voter fraud in any way. It involves voter registration fraud, which is entirely different. Mickey Mouse has not shown up to vote yet, as far as I know, even though he may be registered to vote. And ACORN blows the horn on the people in its organization who fill out voter forms fraudulently. They have these people arrested.
Lou Dobbs needs to stop lying, preening and loitering before the camera and the American people and get a real job somewhere.

$250,000 huh--that's a years salary for Joe the Plumber! LOL

For the Fictional Character "Joe The Plummer" that's his salary! BUT in the real world Joe makes $40,000.00 and did Not pay $1100.00 in taxes last year 2007. The State of Ohio put a lien on his property. WOW! Yet, he doesn't want to vote Democratic, come on Joe think about the reality of your life not the fantasies you have. Got to pay your taxes and get that lien off yah!

Corporations can not contribute to candidates.

Employees can contribute and then the donations are grouped by their employer, which is very misleading in many respects. You will find that given all of Obama's contributions... he has the mopst dollars by that method from every major corp in the country.

Regards

Or the story about Rick Davis and Freddie/Fannie?
Or Mccain connections to Liddy, Iran/Contra, Anti-Semites and racists?
Palin spinning troopergate? Palin and the AIP?

Ditto, I haven't had cable TV for over a year now and I fell like I'm better informed for it. It's nice to get news directly from the source with less spin.
I don't watch MTP on sundays anymore since Tim passed.

CNN never makes the distinction between registration fraud and voter fraud when discussing this. CNN needs to make it clear that registration fraud means nothing. Just because some idiot registers as Mickey Mouse doesn't mean Mickey Mouse can vote. Lou "I'm Mr. Independent" Dobbs is the worst offender (bloated racists that he is!) Tell CNN that they have a responsibility to tell the truth to voters by clicking here: http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?103

I sent them a letter yesterday raising he// about how they keep saying voter fraud instead of voter registration fraud. I saw a story earlier and they were using voter registration fraud now, but more people need to write in and demand they say the truth when reporting this story. I am so sick of the media spinning this story into something it is NOT! Do these people think the dead are going to rise from the graves and go and vote for Obama?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:40 PM on 10/17/2008

Exactly. But I would like to know why they never never talk about the legitimate casesf of election fraud. Voter raud is very rare. Thousands of people are disenfranchised every 4 years because of the Repubs' election fraud.
