The Republican Party is blasting out a four-page pamphlet tying Barack Obama to Bill Ayers, who they say oversaw a "reign of terror" and is a "friend of Obama."

The literature, sent independently to the Huffington Post by readers in Nevada and North Carolina, is part of a continued effort to tie Obama to the former Weather Underground member even as Sen. John McCain says he is uninterested in an "old, washed-up terrorist." As reported yesterday, the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee have launched a massive nationwide robocall campaign on the same topic.

The layout of the pamphlets (which were sent from the North Carolina Republican State Executive Committee and the Nevada Republican Party) has an almost eerie, children's book feel to it.

"This is the story of William Ayers," the cover reads. "Terrorist. Radical. Friend of Obama." Additionally, the pamphlet places the notorious Ayers quote -- "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough" -- in between a picture of him and Obama, potentially misleading recipients as to who said it.

The Party also takes poetic license in interpreting Ayers' role in the Weather Underground movement, suggesting that he ran the organization and paralyzed the country in fear.

"During his reign of terror, Ayers and his organization bombed the United States Capitol, the Pentagon, a judge's house and policy stations."

It should be noted that three of the four pages contain pictures of both Obama and Ayers, and that two of those three have their photos side-by-side.

Again, if you get any campaign materials like the above, feel free to contact the Huffington Post.

If this is the only reason the GOP can offer voters as to why to vote for John McCain, it's no wonder he's losing. Despite the truth about this "association", McCain continues to harp on it as if it's still in question. I agree with Obama. Aren't there more important issues that need to be addressed? The only thing McCain has been able to prove during the debates is that he is not at Obama's intellectual level and he somehow thinks that puts more in common with the voting public. The reality is that Americans are sick and tired of the mediocrity that has brought this country to where it is today. We need intelligence and judgment in the White House. We need the best we can find in order to address the needs of the American people and the future of this country.

John McCain is a day late and a dollar short.

Wow.
So who's first to bring up Ahmed Chalabi? You know, the Iranian double agent that rooked President mini brain into a war, and a close friend of McCain's.

McCain was on board for an Iraq invasion since 1997.

The co-conspirator liberator who not long ago walked unguarded in the Green Zone of Baghdad sorrounded by adoring Iraqis who thanked him for the lack of water, electricity, jobs but were happy Saddam was hanged and McCain was there to fatten his resume of having been on the side of the troops and of course worry about the well being of the Iraqis to whom McCain told them to get accostued to the Americans because we will be there for 100 years or whatever it takes to make hem happy but not to worry for we will teach them how to build shopping centers and spend, spend on American owned stores stocked by the chinese for we own them our soul and treasure.

Of course he was right but ,hey, please don't hurt the sensitivities of our values Congressman Lewis for we love African Americans, we protect them so many millions of them even though they are behind bars, young people hanged stupid things on trees, we don't want to socialize with them nor want them in our beighborhood, or be friends with our kids and of course never in the White House except in the kitchen and bathrooms maybe.
You hear in the movies, on TV son of a bitch and just everyone enjoys and it does not hurt US. We hear the president legalizing torture and does ot hurt our sensitivities, we hear Lou Dobbs on CNN calling the US Congress a bunch of stupid, ignorant, incompetent sobs and it does not hurt our sensitivities, but let one respected member of the African community say whatever (the thruth) and we all scream foul.
Something is wrong indeed.

MCCain has asked for an apology from Lewis? He owes no one an apology for telling the truth.

Again, here we have 2 elected officials who are promoting hate and rac*al divide and I ask why are these people not thrown out of this country. Obama is an elected US Senator and if this was true do people really think this would be possible. I know they are pandering to the uneducated but geez this is ridiculous. I say Obama should continue to hit home on the economy.

There are limits on free speech. At the airport, on a plane, in a theater crying "fire." Maybe, as some have said, the way to go is: McCain is a coward knowing the truth and going ahead anyway, smearing away with Ayers.

How interesting...the University of Nebraska Lincoln has invited Prof. Bill Ayers to appear at a college function. So, is the State of Nebraska harboring/palling around with terrorists, or is it just the Lincoln campus? Hmmmm.

Bill Ayers -- Please do us all a favor: publicly endorse McCain-Palin. Even though you don't and cannot believe in them, all you have to do is announce that you identify with their goal of instilling fear in the populace. You can say you're trying to outgrow this nasty trait, but you're not quite there yet. People should recognize terrorism for what it is: a disease of the mind. Invite John and Sarah to a Fear-Pushers Anonymous meeting.

No, G. Gordon Liddy tried to subvert the Constitution by stealing the 1972 election.

McCain's best strategy right now is to link Obama to Ayers? Barack was eight at the time. Eight. Unless you want to try and tell me he was making bombs in the third grade this is a non-issue.

Umm… How does that go? United we… wait wait, it'll come to me in a minute.

This is the most slanderous piece of garbage yet. Good grief, I watched kids burn their draft cards! Does that make me an accomplice? Oh yeah, I also went to hear a speaker from the Young People's Socialist League when I was a freshman in college because my roomie had a crush on the guy and didn't want to go alone. Does this hold a dire threat for me? Should I renew my passport and get ready to flee the Uber Patriot Christian Far-right?
