NY Times:

Confronting an increasingly bleak electoral map, top aides to Senator John McCain said Thursday that they were searching for a "narrow-victory scenario" and would focus in the final weeks on a dwindling number of states, using mailings, telephone calls and television advertisements to try to tear away support from Senator Barack Obama.

...

Mr. McCain's advisers said that in his speeches, television advertisements and mailings, he would seize on a remark Mr. Obama made in an encounter with an Ohio voter, Joe Wurzelbacher, who had pressed him to explain his support for a tax increase for upper-income filers. Mr. Obama responded by saying he wanted to "spread the wealth." Mr. McCain repeatedly invoked that encounter with the man, whom he called "Joe the Plumber," during the debate on Wednesday.

"....their strategy will depend on pamphlets, telephone calls, and emails...."

In other words, spreading their despicable lies about Obama and Ayers every way that they can.

We all should write to every media outlet we can--and call or write senators and representatives and governors, including any thoughtful Republicans--urging them to come together and repudiate these disgraceful tactics.

Obama WILL be our next president. It is morally WRONG for McCain and the RNC to organize Americans (including children) to FEAR and HATE the leader of our country. (Especially someone who is actually honorable, brave, intelligent and kind. AND a DEVOUT CHRISTIAN, you morons!)

The JM/SP is the classic emperor with not clothes ticket.
No economic plan.
No foreign policy plan.
No plan to get us out of Iraq.
Short on knowledge and long on lies, spin and empty rhetoric.

Send them back to Arizona and Alaska on 11/5.

To paraphrase the late and great Ann Richards: poor JOHN...he can't help it if he was born with a silver BOOT in his mouth.

His "JOE" is yet another failure of the GOP to do their homework on the details...wasn't it bad enough with Palin...they just never learn....another hairbrain attempt to manipulate MSM to waste time...opps, this one only took a day, with SP, it took 3 weeks!

Sorry GOP, your tactics are clear and people are listening only long enough to laugh!

T Boone is only concerned with himself. Taxes would be raised on him and his fellow five percenters as well as taxing oil profits. The rest of us will get some real relief not only in taxes, but reduction in stealth taxes such as oil price reductions, education credits, health care premium reductions, etc.
Tools like you don't seem to understand the last eight years was not only a war on terror, but class warfare here in the US. Most of us know not ot vote against our self interests.

Go vote for your losing ticket. Be sure to be around on 11/5 so I can say told you so.

You believe that what has happened to our country in the last eight years will keep the country going if corporations and the rich do not pay taxes that we in the middle class have had to pay? Do you know what studpido means?

Haven't we had 8 years of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy? But yet, we end up with the biggest government bail out of who..... the wealthy ceo's on wall street. It's the rich who get the tax cuts and the middle and working class NEVER reaped any benefit from it. In fact, we got screwed and had to bail the b@stards out!

So someone please explain to me....... why are republicans so hell bent on giving rich people more tax breaks? Look at the results after 8 yrs of it.

Internal investigation finds that ONE investor has been artifically boosting McCain on Intrade

An internal investigation by the popular online market Intrade has revealed that an investor has been attempting to artificially boost the prediction that Sen. John McCain will become president.

Over the past several weeks, the investor has pushed hundreds of thousands of dollars into one of Intrade’s predictive markets for the presidential election, the company said, resulting in great financial losses through a strategy that belies any financial motive.

Listen, these next days, are going to be very difficult ones up until Nov 4th and the polls shut down. Lots can happen, but I think the question is this: Do you want someone who has no clue about foreign policy, and has unlawfully abused power, and been under a federal investigation, and has spread lies, and hate, and created division, and wants more war than we've ever known amid the crumbling economy, with benefits to the rich, with fuzzy plans for fixing our economic meltdown: OR

do you want Barrack Obama, with clear plans, diplomacy, strong leadership for foreign policy with Joe Bidden and benefits for working class and middle class which is 95% of Americans, who has the stamia, strength needed to pull us together as a united nation?
The choice is simple. McCain has shown all his cards, and they all play to more of George Bush.

More correctly, a "narrow minded" victory scenario.

Joe the plummer is registered GOP. He is a total sham. He is not a plummer, does not make anymore than $40K a year, and is a tax delinquent. In other words, a perfect tool in JM's campaign.

If I had 7 -- or whatever -- houses, I wouldn't want to "spread the wealth" either. Only rich people see that as a problem. The other 95% of us are disgusted by the obscene redistribution of wealth upward. Why is "spreading the wealth" something evil, while redistributing wealth out of the hands of the many into the hands of the very is perfectly fine?

I just don't get it. I suspect a good many Americans who are struggling to feed their families, keep a roof over their heads, and send their kids to college don't get it either. Does McCain really imagine that people will look at the financial institutions getting a $700 billion bailout and NOT say "How about something for US?"

I don't know. Maybe I don't know people at all. I just find it possible to imagine.

Joe the plumber admitted to CBS news that he'd get a tax cut under Obama's plan. Now McCain Palin are, to quote someone more clever than me: "throwing Joe under the Straight Talk Express". Will someone please sit McCain down and explain how vetting works? This Joe silliness is one thing, Palin is entirely another!!

But ol' joe is the perfect example of the american Boob: he admits that the Obama plan will help him out....but then goes on to say he's against it; it's wrong because it's 'socialist'.

And there...my friends...is the typical republican Boob: I'm gonna vote against something which is BOTH against my best interests, and the best interests of working americans.....because (fill in the blank here)....

BTW...pretty funny that 'ol joe doesn't have a plumber's license....no ????

Even funnier is he has a tax lien on him for NOT paying his personal income taxes. What does he care about his taxes, he doesn't even pay them!

From today's Politico:

"Sen. Barack Obama holds leads in four key counties that will go a long way toward determining the eventual winner in four important swing states — Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia — according to a new Politico/Insider Advantage survey.

Obama is poised to expand on recent Democratic gains in three populous suburban counties — Pennsylvania’s Bucks County, Missouri’s St. Louis County and Virginia’s Prince William County. In a fourth, Ohio’s Franklin County, home to Columbus and its suburbs, the survey also found Obama with the lead. "

Thing is he does not even need any of those save for Pennsylvania. Add it to Iowa which is already in the bag, New Mexico and Colorado, and it's game.

The sweet thing about Virginia is if Obama can carry that by a clear majority, the news presidents said in Politico today, they may call the election as early as 7pm EST. We would still be voting out here in California.

A warning from Obama:
"For those of you who are feeling giddy or cocky and think this is all set, I just [have] two words for you: New Hampshire," the Democratic presidential nominee said during a fundraiser breakfast in New York. "You know I've been in these positions before where we were favored and the press starts getting carried away and we end up getting spanked. And so that's another good lesson that Hillary Clinton taught me."
"We've got 19 days," Obama said. "We're going to have to work absolutely as hard as we've ever worked in our lives in order to just to get to the start of what is going to be a very difficult and very challenging but ultimately a very fulfilling four years where we can get this country back on track."
*****************
Obama never talks through his hat, so pass this along where you feel it it might be needed, thanks!

As a registered Democrat that lives in Buicks County, Pa., it will be a major event if BO wins there. Still lots of JM signs, etc. on the lawns.

It's critical that Obama's win not be a narrow victory. To do what needs to be done, he requires a mandate from the voters (not Bush's version of a mandate). In addition, Obama should have long coattails and help bring Democrats to Congress in these other states (even if he doesn't carry the state for the Obama.Biden ticket).

Democrats must have a minimum of 62 votes in the Senate. They cannot depend on Lieberman (he will probably jump to Republican) and there are a few others that tend to be very conservative (Blue Dogs). Obama will need a lot of support from the Senate to push through the programs that are needed to get the U.S. back to work and our economy healthy again. Think back to FDR's New Deal and the support that was needed to get his programs past the solid block of Republicans that tried to block everything.

If Obama wins Florida, and he is 5 points ahead right now in the polls, he has won. McCain can't win the election without Florida.
