NY Times:

Confronting an increasingly bleak electoral map, top aides to Senator John McCain said Thursday that they were searching for a "narrow-victory scenario" and would focus in the final weeks on a dwindling number of states, using mailings, telephone calls and television advertisements to try to tear away support from Senator Barack Obama.

...

Mr. McCain's advisers said that in his speeches, television advertisements and mailings, he would seize on a remark Mr. Obama made in an encounter with an Ohio voter, Joe Wurzelbacher, who had pressed him to explain his support for a tax increase for upper-income filers. Mr. Obama responded by saying he wanted to "spread the wealth." Mr. McCain repeatedly invoked that encounter with the man, whom he called "Joe the Plumber," during the debate on Wednesday.

We need to keep working for a huge voter turnout on election day.
They are trying to spin this "narrow victory" idea because they intend to commit voter fraud.
Don't let your guard down for even a second - every vote for Obama counts and we need it to win.

Yeah right. That's why mccain is being forced to campaign in states like Indiana, North Carolina and Virginia. No republican candidate should have to be worried about these states at this stage of the game.

The media wants to make this a horse race just to keep people interested and tuning in. That's why they have been using this one poll the past few days.

The media creating drama to keep viewership up! No. can't be!

Schmidt and McCain are going to wish he never heard of "Joe the Plumber"

"Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years. "

"Narrow victory margin" is code for vote flipping.

"Narrow victory margin" is really code for DISENFRANCHISING the VOTE

This started with McCains demonization of ACORN...anything to stop all Americans from using their VOTE to express their opinion...something he does not want to hear.

Actually, I really mean 'vote flipping'.

However, I'm in no way arguing against the danger of disenfranchisement.

I think this will backfire.

For one thing, it's becoming widely known that Joe makes $250K per year. And many Americans feel that they've been overcharged and had bad work done by overreaching contractors. He's not necessarily an American "hero."

The bottom line is that most Americans don't think they are upper-income, and I doubt they feel that Obama is going to spread their "wealth" among others.

The Obama campaign has shown itself to be extraordinarily gifted, they'll turn this around to bite McCain.

Actually, I thought it was proven he *didn't* make anything even close to $250K a year.....

It's been proven that he makes $40K a year, that he doesn't have any intention of buying his boss's company, that he owes about $1500 in taxes and (apparently) he isn't registered to vote.

If true, I guess I haven't been following Joe's career as closely as investigative reporters. In any case, I'm sure the Obama campaign can answer his "ideas" as needed, with lots of very outspoken average people available to do the job.

Narrow victory - I don't think so....Obama supporters are sticking with Obama as they see him as a person of hope, determination and success to the American people

Barack Obama is hard-working, humble, passionate, positive, pragmatic, highly intelligent, appealing, empathetic - constitutional lawyer, 172 I.Q., doctorate from Harvard, impeccable political credentials, top-flight campaign, good judgment, excellent team selection, a sober, restrained understanding of international diplomacy. John McCain offers anger, slander and Sarah Palin (I.Q. unknown).

Word to the inexplicable "undecideds": roll back torture, the attack on civil rights, the erosion of the Constitution and the wrecking of America's international reputation. This is a once-in-a-generation chance to either have a leadership team the international community respects - and wants! - or sealing the country's fate as the laughing stock of the world.

McCain lied when he said that Senator Obama announced the beginning of his political career, Illinois State Senate, in Ayres living room. Senator Obama's formal kick-off to announce his run for state senate was at the Hyde Park Ramada Inn on Sept. 19, 1995. Barack Obama was introduced by State Senator Palmer in a room filled with supporters at the Ramada, fronting Lake Michigan on South Lake Shore Drive, a stroll from the Museum of Science and Industry.

It all comes down to life in a village; after all, it takes a village.... In which kind of village would you rather be the rich man?

1. Everyone around you is well off and happy and you have been blessed to be the richest among them.

2. Everyone around you is poor, unhappy and angry. You've fired a bunch of your neighbors who were employed by you just because you'd found a village a few miles away where people were even worse off and willing to work for less. You are the richest guy around but in order to protect yourself and your family from all that riff raff around you, you must live in a walled in compound with snipers nests in all corners. You must be protected at all times by armed guards or you'd be dead in a second.

Economic systems tend toward either one of these conditions. In which one would you rather live regardless of your economic status? Our system used to be more like # 1 but has been rapidly moving toward # 2. Do you think that fixing our financial system alone will change in which direction we are going?

About the only hope for McCain is maybe he and Palin can go back to Alaska and both can join the The Alaskan Independent Party and succeed from the United States and then they can run their own country. Can you imagine the stories the RNC would be putting out if anyone in the Obama camp was connected to the AIP.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:27 PM on 10/17/2008

Absolutely!!!! If the shoe were on the other foot, it would have created a Federal Investigation!!! Todd Palin's direct ties to the Alaska Independence Party since 2002, a group which is well known and a crazy "anti-American group that wanted to be separate and apart from all other states! I can not even understand how McCain's camp could have even brought up Ayers in the first place, because there is absolutely no comparison... And why isn't there a Federal Investigation on the Direct Ties the Palin's had to this ANTI-AMERICAN GROUP???

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:45 PM on 10/17/2008

Absolutely you are right? There should be a Federal Investigation on the Palin's? Or are they above this and the law?
