A day after The Washington Post's Dana Milbank wrote about how the Secret Service is blocking press at Sarah Palin's rallies, it appears Palin's staff is blocking her from listening to the press. Palin revealed at a fundraiser last night that she is in an ever-growing media bubble.

"So North Carolina, I appreciate you all so much, who are here who already get it. You know, maybe I'm preaching to the choir a little bit here, but being here encourages me because I know that I'm not alone and I'll send this message back to John McCain also. At those times on the campaign trail when sometimes it's easy to get a little bit discouraged, when, you know, when you happen to turn on the news when your campaign staffers will let you turn on the news," she said, prompting laughter from the group. "Usually they're like 'Oh my gosh, don't watch. You're going to, you know, you're going to get depressed.'"

She added that while she doesn't always appreciate the way reporters portray the GOP ticket, she's been bolstered by the prayers of many of the campaign's backers.

"But yeah, sometimes you do get depressed watching what it is that they're reporting and the spin and some of the distortion of what our message is and what we stand for. Sometimes that, that gets draining," she continued. "But it's at events like these and our rallies that we are so energized and inspired and we know that we are not alone. We feel your strength and we feel the power of prayer, so many of you tell us that you are praying for us and praying for our country and that's why we so appreciate you being here."

Palin also attributed polling numbers to God. "We even saw today, thank the Lord," she said, looking upwards and raising her fist, "We saw some movement."

Will some interviewer please ask McCain if he thinks the American public has a right to get to know Palin via press conferences and interviews? Does he think that we should place trust in a candidate who is shielded from the public and the press? If she is so damned tough, why can't the press ask her questions? He needs to be put on the spot.

The most telling line was when she thanked the lord for the polling numbers shifting (if ever so slightly). I thought this was funny when she also prayed to God for her Governorship.

Religious people, and sometimes non-religious people, are always thanking God when things go well or for things to go their way.

I have to wonder if when Obama wins the presidency, will they be saying to themselves that God knows best and put the best man in office. Do you think they will be re-examining their idiologies wondering if mayby God might be smiting them?

Probably not. They will aways give credit to God when it is in their favor but will blame MSM when it's not.

Excellent point! I always laugh when a football player thanks God for his team's win that day. So, what you're saying is that God liked YOUR team better, and the other team is a bunch of godless heathens? Gimme a break!

What is being reported about the McCain campaign??? What about all the lies being sent out by "McCain & Palin" about Barack Obama.. They're trying to destroy his character with political lies and rhetoric!!! Muck raking!!! Trying to use God!!! John McCain said in 2000 that there is a place in hell for people who run those kind of campaigns.. So what does McCain do?? Hire some of the same that torched him in 2000 with lies.. Watch out John & Sarah.. There may be a place in hell waiting for you...

There is speculation in the blogosphere as to whether she had this child. NYT is reporting that McCain's campaign has refused to release her medical history. Why??????

So, women who have children are unqualified to lead??? What a sexist comment. She is unqualified to lead due to a laundry list of reasons. Being a woman who gave birth is NOT one of them! Lets keep the discussion on the pertinent factors, and leave the personal attacks out of it -- McCain/Palin are launching enough of those for everyone.

That should be 'satirist' getting mixed up with 'strategist.'

What smells is Palin on SNL is part of the GOP strategy to neutralise the statirists. They know how powerful a weapo they are. The same with McC going on Letterman. Whilst Dave did his darndest to nail him he was constantly interrupted with a barrage of lies. Remember Dave is not a political commentator. All Palin was ordered to do by the strategist on SNL is give a Bachmann smile as if it meant nothing to her. The liberals best weapon has now being neutralised and Fey really can't do anymore Palin. She should switch to Bachmann.

The human beings (Democratic party) don't know how be mean spirited, I don't think God is
supporting the Republicans at all, I think maybe the guy with the horns, who goes by many names
loves you Palin, you preach just what he wants to hear, against the poor working class. Picking
on the ACORN people who help the poor. McCain saying spreading the wealth is wrong, well he's wrong, undemocratic and not a true American or Christian. HEY, McCain, Palin, the meek shall
inheriot the earth. God made people rich to help the poor, that's why the country is in the predictament
it's in, tax cuts for only the rich, just is unAmerican. Unfortunately some of the poor suffer for the sins
of the rich republican neo-cons..
The europeansl(forefathers) left Europe because the Europeans let the poor starve in the streets, and they had no civil rights, they came here to have freedom of religion and make a better place for themselves, after being throw out the jails in Europe, for stealing loaves of bread. Read the history
books Palin, you dumb b.......

If she doesnt like 'spin' she shouldnt be a republican. Republicans spin the crap she says and say 'the media is playing a gotcha game'. Fox news spins so much news, Rep pundits spin so much.

So Palin has a problem w her own party.

Presidential politics is the big leagues, Sarah. Buck up or get the heck out (I prefer the latter).

You don't and couldn't hold a candle to Sen. Hillary Clinton who took (and takes) crap for YEARS! And do you hear of staffers protecting her from what's being said about her...or the world around her?

The more I hear about Gov. Palin, the more disgusted I become. What the (bleep) was McCain thinking?

One more thing...if aides don't want Sarah seeing "bad news," than why the heck is she appearing on SNL??????????????

What would Joe Biden do in this situation? I think that as a vice presidential candidate I would immediately tell a staffer who insisted that I not watch the news to hand me their resignation or turn the news on. I can understand parents holding back some information from their children their thought process is that my child can't grasp the gravity of these choices so I will withhold them from making these choices as long as I can. That in my opinion can be noble. Sarah Palin however, is not a child turn on the news watch some criticism of your campaign and your polices. This shouldn't be depressing hopefully it will make you re affirm you beliefs or hopefully reconsider them.

The underlying theme of this Palin candicacy is image. Create an image, sway voters with an ideal. She's been contrived. She's not there to speak for herself or present any real version of herself. She's a mouthpiece. And that's why she's so protected. From real media scrutiny and from the "reality" of what's happening in the campaign. Her staff has to keep her propped up and insulated so she can keep doing what she's there to do. They put her on SNL to show her spunk and willingness to laugh at herself. But she must have felt humiliated, sitting right there while they mocked her to her face. And McCain would subject her to that ridicule. How pathetic. I can't imagine she enjoyed that, even as she tried to put on a brave face.
