A day after The Washington Post's Dana Milbank wrote about how the Secret Service is blocking press at Sarah Palin's rallies, it appears Palin's staff is blocking her from listening to the press. Palin revealed at a fundraiser last night that she is in an ever-growing media bubble.

"So North Carolina, I appreciate you all so much, who are here who already get it. You know, maybe I'm preaching to the choir a little bit here, but being here encourages me because I know that I'm not alone and I'll send this message back to John McCain also. At those times on the campaign trail when sometimes it's easy to get a little bit discouraged, when, you know, when you happen to turn on the news when your campaign staffers will let you turn on the news," she said, prompting laughter from the group. "Usually they're like 'Oh my gosh, don't watch. You're going to, you know, you're going to get depressed.'"

She added that while she doesn't always appreciate the way reporters portray the GOP ticket, she's been bolstered by the prayers of many of the campaign's backers.

"But yeah, sometimes you do get depressed watching what it is that they're reporting and the spin and some of the distortion of what our message is and what we stand for. Sometimes that, that gets draining," she continued. "But it's at events like these and our rallies that we are so energized and inspired and we know that we are not alone. We feel your strength and we feel the power of prayer, so many of you tell us that you are praying for us and praying for our country and that's why we so appreciate you being here."

Palin also attributed polling numbers to God. "We even saw today, thank the Lord," she said, looking upwards and raising her fist, "We saw some movement."

As a citizen of the great state of Alaska it is quite funny to listen to these comments. My political bent doesn't fit with what I've read here but, into the breach.......
If I remember correctly we are electing an EXECUTIVE. Of all the Presidential and VP candidates Mrs. Palin is the ONLY ONE WITH ANY EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE. Her time as an executive is about equal to Obama's time in the Senate where he is one of 100. So she has committed the fault of being openly religious....OOOOOOHHHHHH the horror! At the very least, in an MTV world where an empty suit like Senator Obama can actually have a chance of winning the Presidency, one at least knows where she stands in clear and unabashed terms. Wouldn't it be a shame if either Obama or Biden actually spoke about core beliefs instead of what would grab ratings.

Gladly! I appreciate a state in which the leadership (mostly) believes that there should be no state income tax and MY GOD....you should get YOUR money back when the budget is balanced....a state requirement by the way.

The problem isn't so much that she has made the mistake of being openly religious, it's that she has made the mistake of being openly *stupid*. You can be religious without being stupid, and you can be stupid without being religious, but Palin hasn't managed to do either.

Running the state that gets more taxpayer dollars (that's my money, bozos) than any other counts as executive experience? If that means she's cut out to be VP, then all those executives at failing banks who still got their multimillion dollar bonuses for bankrupting their companies should be well qualified to be president.

Sarah Palin has managed to make life better for exactly ONE person on this entire planet: Dan Quayle. Somewhere, he's down on his knees thanking the Flying Spaghetti Monster profusely for putting someone on Earth who makes him look like a Nobel laureate.

Let's see...she has run a town, served as a regulator ( a fairly popular word these days), and run a state in which I received $1,200 this year because the state didn't need it...a budget surplus if you can believe it, and she felt the people should keep THEIR money. Yes.....sounds pretty dim to me too.

What are her religious beliefs?? The belief of lies and hatred I guess.

Sorry arctic hyper dog, we need someone who can construct complete sentences, understand the Constitution of the United States, be honest, be forthright, be more aware and actually be intelligent. Alaska obviously can run on its own without a governor so her limited experience there is nothing more than a convenient fact. Keep trying though, we are pro-America here, you know like freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech...as in your man's idea to bring back the "fairness doctrine". Government deciding what is OK and what is not in forums like radio, TV, and ...oh yeah blogs. And as far as intelligence I seem to remember seeing good old Senator Biden speeking about creating jobs and referring to "jobs" as a 3 letter word. As far as the Constitution goes....if you have the time or willingness to do so....take a look at the Alaska Constitution and you might see something surprinsing to you in the lower 48...a document that gives THE PEOPLE the vast majority of power....not the government.

if you love and adore her so much, you should get her to come back to run your fine state. oh yeah, and maybe she could visit with t r i g while she's there. there is no way anyone could convince me that she is a Christian woman. a woman filled with that much hate, could not possibly love Jesus.

Too bad. If she read the Chicago Tribune she would learn Obama started his campaign in Springfield, Illinois, not in Ayers' living room.

Maybe they've told her that she's done some interviews? Perhaps her staff doesn't want her to realize that she has only done 2 interviews in her 6 weeks as a VP nominee.

I don't think McCain could have found a more shallow ignorant stump of a mini intellect to run with him than Silly Sarah . . . the thought of her alone in the White House should scare the hell out of any rational American . . . .

She is crossing the religous divide so blatantly that I can hardly breathe on this issue....

God and prayers are helping her find her way??????????????

Look Lady.... this is a nation that was founded on religous freedom and we don't all think that we are waiting for the apocalypse... we think that we can AVOID that with a renewal of faith and the true teachings of Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha and Krishna..... I am sure that I missed a few religions out there, so forgive me.. or add your own to the mix......

But the base philosophy of all these religions is unity and not divisiveness which you and the rest of your radical right wingnuts seem to embrace.....

YOU ARE NOT ONE OF US!!!!!

You are an anathema to true religous beliefs...................

So it's clear: She hates most of America.

A lot more people live in cities than in the rural towns she's identified.

she gets all her news from the bible?

just a thought

Hmmm...
So she is being insulated from the real world because she can't handle the pressure!? But the U.S. Presidency is possibly the most pressure filled job in the world. When asked is she qualified, John McCain answered with a hearty---absolutely!
Who wrote this Republican campaign script, Moliere?

If we were reading this nonsense in a book you could feel sad for some of the GOP characters. However, this is real and this is our country. We must really get out the vote for Obama/Biden and stop the madness.

Since they have decided to shield her from the news, perhaps she can pick up a book and learn something on foreign policy that goes beyond using cheat sheets.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:57 PM on 10/17/2008

You mean pick up a geography book so she won't declare she is in the "Great Northwest" when she is in New Hampshire.
