I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Sarah Palin

Wall Street Journal:

"Sometimes the leak is so bad that even a plumber can't fix it." This was the concise summation of a cable political strategist the other day, after the third and final presidential debate. That sounds about right, and yet the race in its final days retains a feeling of dynamism. I think it is going to burst open or tighten, not just mosey along. I can well imagine hearing, the day after Election Day, a lot of "You won't believe it but I was literally in line at the polling station when I decided."

John McCain won the debate, and he did it by making the case more effectively than he has in the past that Barack Obama will raise taxes, when "now, of all times in America, we need to cut people's taxes." He also scored Mr. Obama on his eloquence, using it against him more effectively than Hillary Clinton ever did. When she said he was "just words," it sounded like a bitter complaint. Mr. McCain made it a charge: Young man, you attempt to obscure truth with the mellifluous power of your words. From Mrs. Clinton it sounded jealous, but when Mr. McCain said it, you looked at Mr. Obama and wondered if you'd just heard something that was true. For the first time, Mr. Obama's unruffled demeanor didn't really work for him. His cool made him seem hidden.

Make no mistake, she's still a conservative. If McCane had chosen a decent VP candidate, she'd be singing their praises.

Read the whole article people. You may not agree with the whole thing, but Noonan is trying to tell the truth.

Palin isn't even high school smart. Whatever college education she has is doing her absolutely no good at all. She is a pawn being used by the republicans and just another brainwashed mind controlled talking mouth, with lipstick.

Her words have no meaning, they are disjointed, there is no flow of substance and she is very irritating to say the least. You just want to sl ap her for being so stupid. And the repubs must have a patent on that plastered smile these women place on their faces. It seems it must hurt at night to peel it off. What a waste of human flesh these females are who speak for the republicans to boast their agenda.

Besides being inconsequential, these folks are truly hateful. They spew chaos and divisiveness 24/7 and theres not a drop of love among them. Who would want any of them to be in their government. And they are so stubborn that they can't even imagine WHY we don't want to listen to their garbage. Now that is insanity for sure.

It is really very simple: Palin is not qualified to be a mayor, a governor or a VP candidate. She is not bright; she is not curious; she is embarassing; she is in over her head. Big mistake.

I got to the bottom of the article and kept thinking back to the line:

"Mr. Obama continued to claim he will remove wasteful spending by sitting down with the federal budget and going through it "line by line." This is absurd, and he must know it."

Certainly this is impossible for Obama as a person but not for a committee of like-minded individuals who are sifting and then proposing changes to him. It reminds me of another article I read yesterday in which the analyst said with no qualifying arguments that McCain was going to close the gap, as if by thinking the statement, he made it true. Another example of 'triumph of the will?'

Any way the cloying, obsequious Noonan can be detained and kept off the tube until this is over? There's nothing newsworthy in watching the smarmy flowergirl and Poetess Laureate of the right wing now desperately angling for an open chair before the music stops.

When she penned the utterly vapid and meaningless "thousand points of light" for Bush 41, she omitted the critical consumer advisory: "Batteries not included."

StillAmused, I love your comment.
Noonan 'now desperately angling for an open chair before the music stops.' That's so comical and appropriate. Thanks for the morning chuckle.

Noonan is a hypocrite. She got caught on a hot mike calling Palin bullshit, though that didn't prevent her from hypocritically praising Palin anyway.
Now she is not praising her, but she says McCain won the debate because he raised questions about Obama raising taxes.
Yeah on people with incomes like hers, but no one else.
These Republicans are such hypocrites they will carry out their marching orders no matter what, twisting all the facts around as it suits them.
How does this bode well for the nation when someone like Noonan is supposed to represent the rational wing of the Republican Party? If Obama's and Democratic policies turn the country around economically and otherwise are they still going to stick to their narrow ideology?
How can ANY Republican accuse Democrats of wanting to raise taxes after Bush has nearly ruined the country, leaving us with mammoth deficits, which are much worse than any increases in taxes on only the wealthiest people in our nation.
What would you rather have - a fleet of welfare queens cruising around in their cadillacs or Wall street executives cruising around in their private jets, also at taxpayers' expense?
But Oh Well, that's the Republican Party. As long as its around we aren't going to have a legitimate adversarial system if this is the best argument the Republicans can manage.

Noonan says, "You have to hold open the possibility of magic. People can come from nowhere, with modest backgrounds and short résumés, and yet be individuals of real gifts, gifts that had previously been unseen, that had been gleaming quietly under a bushel, and are suddenly revealed." The Republicans were hoping that would be true of Palin, but isn't it instead true of Senator Obama?

In pure psychiatric terms, is beng a Republican the mark of a personality disorder?

WTF in Noonan talking about? All of a sudden she's figured out that Palin's a loser, but only after braver souls have called McCain out for his VP choice.

We might have been a little more impressed, Peggy, if you had written this seven weeks ago and had displayed some intellectual honesty the first time Palin opened her rather unfortunate mouth. That you're trying to do it now only makes you appear more of a hack. And John McCain won the debate Wednesday night? Really? What debate were you watching>

"She doesn't think aloud. She just . . . says things."

But this is pretty much true, imo.

"She doesn't think aloud She just....says things." Yeah, rather like one Peggy Noonan. McCain won the third debate, Ms. Noonan? Which "debate" were you watching? The one I saw was even until about halfway through, and then the Ancient One imploded. Good grief, Ms. Noonan, have you no shame?

Wilbur

Another floundering Republican. Typical Noonan, tries to say something without really saying anything at all. Still, you gotta love it when they're eating their own and I for one encourage that. *does a little happy dance*
