Tina Fey On Palin Impression: "She Has A Really Crazy Voice" (VIDEO)

Tina Fey joins David Letterman tonight, Friday, and a chunk of the interview is online with Fey talking about her impression of Sarah Palin, especially her voice:

She has a really crazy voice... Not since "Sling Blade" had there been a voice that anyone can do... [it's] a beautiful Alaskan windsong... It's a little bit "Fargo," a little bit Reese Witherspoon in "Election"... Seth Meyers puts a lot of Rs in, she really loves her Rs.

She also explains why it is not sexist and calls Palin a tough lady, "She kills things!"

Palin's voice, accent and folksiness are completely studied affectations, designed to get a demagogic response.
She raises her voice in pitch just when she wants applause and then even more when she wants a rabid response.
And her accent is phony, like her winks and Midwesternisms. I heard an interview she gave to a Florida TV station, and watched her debates in Alaska. The shrillness isn't there, nor does she drop her gs - ever.
She also is more coherent and grammatical when she's not in her campaign mode.
Her thought processes generally aren't clear or thoughtful and she gets in trouble when she is offscript, but when she is not demagoging it - as in the presence of reporters and interviewers - she is capable of normal sentence construction. I think she was nervous and confused during the Gibson and Couric debates.
On a smaller stage she comes across in a normal fashion. Put her in front of a teleprompter and she transforms into a shrill demagogue with a strong regional dialact she doesn't normally use.

Great move for SNL...their ratings would skyrocket even more for many months.

Not necessarily bad for Palin, either. Her "base" would be irate, inflamed to fever pitch, guaranteeing her a media career somewhere for the rest of her life.

She's got to realize she's going to lose, regardless. If she can keep up controversy around herself, she'll be signed to Fox Noose for a multi-million dollar contract.

I love Tina! I hope she doesn't have to stand next to Palin tomorrow night. That would be weird I hope Palin falls flat on her face and tanks on the show. I'm not going to watch, but will be reading all about it on Sunday morning. Palin doesn't deserve the airtime nor the respect that is given to be a guest on SNL. She is out inciting anger and hate and decides to take a time out and go on SNL and be cool and funny????? Doesn't work for me.

I was an avid SNL fan for many years, I am not a young chick, so I have watched the show from the time it was real comedy. SNL is nothing now. Every four years they take the action of "doing" politicians, but every Saturday night of the rest of the three and 3/4 evenings, they are pitiful.

guess I will watch tonight, and a couple more Saturday's till election over, after that, I am alseep on Saturday evenings.

Unfortunately, I am totally against SNL's decision to invite Palin onto the show. I am boycotting the show and have asked all of my friends to, as well. Why should she get FREE scripted air time when she refuses to speak to us without a script and a podium. And then we will have to watch it ad nauseam on all of the news channels after it is broadcast. This is just the sort of thing that the repubs do toward the end of the campaign to get attention.
