Madonna Divorce

Just days after their divorce was confirmed, mud is flying in the battle of Guy Ritchie and Madonna. First she slammed the "emotionally retarded" at her first post-divorce concert while introducing a song about marital estrangement. Now, accusations are flying and Guy's dad has stepped in with harsh words for his daughter-in-law.

From the Telegraph:

Friends have told a newspaper that that the marriage first ran into serious difficulties in 2005 when Madonna fell from her horse. She suffered eight broken bones and felt that Ritchie showed "a complete lack of love and sympathy". She is said to have demanded in a recent argument: "Did you ever actually love me?"

In his first comments about the marriage split, Ritchie's father, John, said of the reports: "She is being beastly. She is saying, 'Did you ever love me?' It goes back to a time when she fell off her horse and she's blaming him for that. She's calling him an emotional retard. When he's being bashed by her it's horrid."

Madonna says Guy said she looked like a granny:

Lawyers for the singer, who was widely believed to be the dominant partner in the marriage, are putting together a dossier of incidents.

They include allegations that he told her she 'looked like a granny' on stage compared with her younger backing dancers. He is also alleged to have declared that she could not act, and was 'past it' after she turned 50.

Her lawyers say that 40-year-old Ritchie's comments made Madonna feel worthless, unattractive, unfeminine, insecure and isolated during their eight-year marriage.

The Mail has learned that Madonna's case will chronicle how she first fell for Ritchie because she felt he was a challenge and that he was tough enough to stand up to her.

However, she apparently soon started to become affected by her husband's alleged put- downs which eventually started to eat away at her legendary confidence.

Another report is about the tight ship Madonna ran at home and had extreme personal grooming habits:

Her irrational food fads and increasingly bizarre attempts to hold back time - via surgery, exercise and every therapy going - certainly helped to doom their marriage.

How could anyone expect Ritchie, a macho man who is fond of the pub and likes to shoot pheasant, to dine contentedly every night on quinoa grains and organic vegetable dumplings?

And how was he supposed to react when his wife took to retiring at night slathered in £500-a-pot cream and covered in a plastic body-suit to hold back the signs of ageing?

It now emerges that every aspect of life at the Ritchie residence in London was dictated by the lady of the house. Madonna, who embraced a macrobiotic diet in the early 1990s, told her chefs what was permitted: she chose the precise blend of Colombian coffee and tutted over the exact provenance of air-freighted Canadian blueberries.

Guy, then, has allegedly had to endure a life married to a 5ft 4in domestic tyrant whose rules apparently included no TV, no newspapers, and no welcome for his 'London' friends - sustained on a diet which would make a Hollywood starlet feel faint.

He had to drink his tea every day with rice milk, as dairy is banned.

Money or sex is usually the problem. I think the latter is their problem.
Three years ago, Madonna fell from her horse, now, she's fallen off Guy Ritchie. Aging at 50, her riding skill must be getting bad.

I have nothing against Madonna; she has proven herself the consummate entertainer (Although Cyndi Lauper, who emerged at the same time, has always had the better voice and engaging personality.) It also could be stated that being a woman in the glare of kleig lights and papparazzi cameras cannot be easy. Yet, if the staements about their nighttime ritual is true, for pete's sake, woman, take off the night creams and body wraps and read your kids a story or two; have a light beer with the hubby, and just be real. Emmylou Harris and other women of the 60s, two generations before you, still sing and don't get into the ainglory of their imagery. The public $$ cannot dictate one's homelife. It's pathetic to live a life that's not real just for the sake of appearances. Pretty bouegy, too.If two people don't share any common interests, what's the point? It sounds like they never had a friendship, just a romance, and without that foundation any idiot wind knocks out any marriage sooner or later.

Cyndi Lauper obviously didn't have more talent. Sorry, but Cyndi has a speech impediment that carried over to her singing. Madonna was a better songwriter. Nevertheless, Cyndi has expressed great admiration for Madonna and vice versa. They were/are supposed to write a few songs together and record them someday. Cyndi is great but she didn't have much beyond her first 2 releases.

Music is not about who has the best voice. If that were the case, NONE of the singers past or present would cut it. Dylan? Horrible voice. Jagger? OK. McCartney? OK. Stringsteen? Not good.

Howevever all have distinctive voices. Give me a Sheryl Crow, Madonna, Stevie, Chrissie, Alanis, anyday over your Celine's or Christina Aguliera's.

Cyndi is still recording & touring and working for causes that are important to her. Not everyone desires the extreme spotlight.

Sorry, but I've never thought she had any talent other than self-promotion. She can't sing, she can't act. Who even buys her music anymore?

As much as I have enjoyed and admired Madonna's talents and career since the beginning, there is one thing that neither she, nor anyone else, can control...That is the passage of time. We all have to deal with it, including Madonna. So keep on keepin' on, Material Girl! You will get past this and come out stronger on the other side. Your real fans will never abandon you!

I wonder who would want to live let alone be married to this gal?? Who cares how much money she has. I get the feeling she would have to have total control of everything. Good luck to her soon to be ex-husband. He should feel relieved to be getting rid of her.

So sad! I was wondering How Guy was going to fare with this one. When I saw "Truth or Dare" it revealed WHO she really was: a major control freak with loads of egocentricity for several people. She was a bit overindulged and consumed with her quest for attention and success.

I think she truly still loves Sean Penn - i surely would. I think he loves her still too - although Robin Wright Penn is a beautiful and classy and wonderful actress.

Madonna sacrificed quite a bit emigrating to London to be with Guy. She tried very, very hard to keep this marriage going for as long as she did. I admire her determination, and commitment to love and family. But no one gives her credit for it and I feel sad.

Everyone ages, no one's immune to it. She's a celebrity so she works hard on keeping up appearances, like she works hard for everything in her life.

Be kind to her. I just hope she eventually finds a man who really, really loves and adores her.

She has to do a 180 on this. She's too self-centered.

I agree, but she quite possibly works too hard. At 50, we're supposed to be happy in our own skin. I'm 56 and most certainly do. I'm fit, and am doing very well for my age, but it's life's experience that's the biggest contributor to my happiness. Madonna is ignoring that experience going for the overtly sexy at 50 as to compete with younger women. Heck she could loosen up a lot and beat everyone in her age group and most in their 40's. Isn't that a triumph in itself?

I agree with Ritchie that she should mellow into a different type of genre of singing maybe. Don't bring up Tina Turner as an example. I think she looked too overweight and matronly to wear that leather outfit when I saw her last. Her voice--great, appearance...not so much.

WHAAAT?? She sacrificed exactly NOTHING!! She *wanted* to live in England, and they have a huge, gorgeous old mansion in the countryside and beautiful children and and and and and!!!

Please. These people are not to be pitied. They have more than any of us will ever see, and they fritter away their time on earth in bu!l$h!t, instead of using their time and money to do some good. To hell with both of 'em.

Unfortunately, this is what comes of a marriage that's based on a legitimization sexual attraction rather than substantive compatibility.

Poor Guy.

Madonna can thrust her pelvis and swoon the court judges to give Guy less in the settlement.
She can use the same "sex charm" that Palin uses to get the men to swoon.

He 's got little chance to come out on top against her.

Can't wait for Guy Ritchie's version of the "Peter Cook and Barbara "Babs" Walters interview!
