Madonna Divorce

Just days after their divorce was confirmed, mud is flying in the battle of Guy Ritchie and Madonna. First she slammed the "emotionally retarded" at her first post-divorce concert while introducing a song about marital estrangement. Now, accusations are flying and Guy's dad has stepped in with harsh words for his daughter-in-law.

From the Telegraph:

Friends have told a newspaper that that the marriage first ran into serious difficulties in 2005 when Madonna fell from her horse. She suffered eight broken bones and felt that Ritchie showed "a complete lack of love and sympathy". She is said to have demanded in a recent argument: "Did you ever actually love me?"

In his first comments about the marriage split, Ritchie's father, John, said of the reports: "She is being beastly. She is saying, 'Did you ever love me?' It goes back to a time when she fell off her horse and she's blaming him for that. She's calling him an emotional retard. When he's being bashed by her it's horrid."

Madonna says Guy said she looked like a granny:

Lawyers for the singer, who was widely believed to be the dominant partner in the marriage, are putting together a dossier of incidents.

They include allegations that he told her she 'looked like a granny' on stage compared with her younger backing dancers. He is also alleged to have declared that she could not act, and was 'past it' after she turned 50.

Her lawyers say that 40-year-old Ritchie's comments made Madonna feel worthless, unattractive, unfeminine, insecure and isolated during their eight-year marriage.

The Mail has learned that Madonna's case will chronicle how she first fell for Ritchie because she felt he was a challenge and that he was tough enough to stand up to her.

However, she apparently soon started to become affected by her husband's alleged put- downs which eventually started to eat away at her legendary confidence.

Story continues below

Another report is about the tight ship Madonna ran at home and had extreme personal grooming habits:

Her irrational food fads and increasingly bizarre attempts to hold back time - via surgery, exercise and every therapy going - certainly helped to doom their marriage.

How could anyone expect Ritchie, a macho man who is fond of the pub and likes to shoot pheasant, to dine contentedly every night on quinoa grains and organic vegetable dumplings?

And how was he supposed to react when his wife took to retiring at night slathered in £500-a-pot cream and covered in a plastic body-suit to hold back the signs of ageing?

It now emerges that every aspect of life at the Ritchie residence in London was dictated by the lady of the house. Madonna, who embraced a macrobiotic diet in the early 1990s, told her chefs what was permitted: she chose the precise blend of Colombian coffee and tutted over the exact provenance of air-freighted Canadian blueberries.

Guy, then, has allegedly had to endure a life married to a 5ft 4in domestic tyrant whose rules apparently included no TV, no newspapers, and no welcome for his 'London' friends - sustained on a diet which would make a Hollywood starlet feel faint.

He had to drink his tea every day with rice milk, as dairy is banned.

And when Ritchie turns 50 he will look like a haggard troll and Madonna at 60 will still look like a goddess.

And be infinitely richer.

Haha! I don't know what 'Goddess' you worship, but if it looks like THAT, you can have her!

Madonna was known for her interest in "kinky sex"...and poor Guy was attracted to the flame.
No telling what "emasculating" devices he had to endure...for what?? well, he now has $60 Million of Madonnas money, and a mansion.....and she's got his "B****" in a jar...even trade?? who knows. Many men have given "them" up for less.

Yes Americans do tend to exaggerate and project, you generally get defense as attack and truth is often met with denial - it's about winning, which gets confusing when there is none to be had. Guy will do well, Madge is a bit excessive across the board - she'll probably turn into a parody of herself , eventually exploding into a lather of flesh and body fluids one day and'll wonder what happened - Guy on the other hand is far more adapted to the real world and more than likely will spend the rest of his days glad of the Closure.

Why is their inter-marriage any of our business? All divorces are the fault of both! End of story. You both have to work hard to keep it going!

But I do believe the issue on the "Do you love me." If anyone wants to read my enneagram page (offthebus), Madonna is a Two: Giver. Types as Madonna, tend to give a lot, but want something in return. Meaning what they do for others, in the end -- they feel they aren't being appreciated. JMHO.

"Why is their inter-marriage any of our business?"

I know, the gossip pages are horrible. Why can't they have their privacy? Why do we care? etc.,... I shouldn't care, but I read everything with Madonna in it. She's newsprint gold. Love her/ hate her, we read all the juicy details we see posted.

I wonder what A-Rod and Madonna are gonna have for dinner tonight :) j/k

"All divorces are the fault of both!"

that is an INCREDIBLY stupid statement. i'd give you a sympathetic ear if you ever get fVckt around on, but obviously it'll be half your fault too.

idiot.

Oh, pleeeze, Adrienne -- that is so ridiculous that "all divorces are the fault of both !" What a generalization, and I can name a dozen marriages I know of in less than a minute where the break ups were because of alcohol or drug abuse/addiction. Tell me, how would this be the fault of both ? There are a myriad reasons why marriages break up -- it's inane to think that both people cause a marriage to break up. And you know what ? A lot of marriages should break up... some times it is NOT best to work hard to keep it going, esp in the case of abuse. I could go on and on ...

Um, what's the difference between an "inter-marriage" and a marriage? Also, do you write for Sarah Palin?

I really pray that Guy gets custody of Rocco and David (Lourdes has a different dad; David was adopted by both of them). Madonna has such a wierd idea of parent hood ( no tv, weird food, etc.) Oh, extreme discipline.. She is just weird period...

I agree with no TV. TV for young kids is even more dangerous.

Especially if mommy is being splattered all over it!

Television is evil and no one should watch it.
I wonder if Sarah Palin is really gonna be on SNL tonight, and if Andy Samberg is gonna do another Marky Mark skit :)

TV is not dangerous for young kids. That's ridiculous. PBS for example is wonderful for children.

How do you know?.. do you live with them? Only speculation.. and if so, you look foolish saying something you have NO first hand knowledge of.

In defense of Joye...I have read articles where Madonna was quoted as saying that she has never permitted her kids to watch TV, etc.... She has referred to herself as a strict disciplinarian. Discipline is good, but it shouldn't prevent kids from being kids. If they get joint custody, something tells me the kids are going to like going to daddy's a whole lot more than staying with mom. Who could blame them?

I heard that there wasn't a pre-nup. Is Madonna retarded? Guy is going to be one wealthy fella....I hear Heather Mills is available.

Americans, particularly American media writers, use the word "slam" too much. Anytime a celebrity says something that isn't completely supportive of someone else, you call it a "slam." Richie's father hardly "slammed" Madonna. He was nowhere near that harsh and aggressive in his wording.

British friends have pointed out to me that it's typical of Americans to exaggerate in their wording: "absolutely" instead of yes; "great" or "awesome" to describe things that are neither; etc.

madonna is a brand - if she wanted to keep the money rolling in, she has to keep herself looking as fit and as young as possible. not many people WOULD go see madonna on stage, where a lot of her millions come from, if she was looking truly like my grandmother and using a walker.

as for guy, come on. IF any of this is true, then we are supposed to say "poor little guy - living off of madonna came at a price. oh what a surprise." rice milk in his coffee? oh the HORROR of it all. nothing prevented him from buying his own milk OR his own refrigerator.

let's face it. she has made many more millions than guy ritchie. HE could have walked at any time - so he must have either liked living the health food lifestyle OR he was just there for her money and the perks and the international fame it brought to him.

i'm kinda thinking madonna is gonna survive this, including the divorce. and then we'll see if ritchie ever makes headlines again.

and i'm saying this as not an especially huge madonna fan - just as someone who's watched her come from nowhere and use her business sense to become a multimillionaire.

but when you take away meat and dairy, they draw the line. Many, many men will endure innumerable injustices to be with the woman they love: but being made to drink soy milk and eat vegetarian substitutes for meat is GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE!!!

Well, a lot of modern, open minded "real men" will put put up with all kinds of abuse. A woman they dearly love can order them to accomodate any number of bizzare rituals like Kabbalah,

Madonna's man problem is the same problem for most western women in the 21st century except that her break up happens in the view of the world at large. She's brilliant, driven, fit, ambitious...aging... likes a hot young guy (pun intended) he is lovely and can't keep up with her... no man can. I have no doubt she is very intense and very difficult to live with... she's Madonna for crying out loud... these relationships with the rich, driven and aging are all just social experiements... and the kids they buy from overseas are included.

No, I think Madonna married a man who mirrors her. She married someone who shares a lot of her characteristics. Life has a way of shoving your s h i t t right back at you and forces you to take a good long look. How many people has Madonna talked down to, humiliated, made to feel small and inadequate? Guy is British and I've heard they are not the warmest of men. What did she expect. He's 10 years younger. I bet he couldn't wait to throw that gem in her face. He was not in this marriage alone. It takes two. You know Madonna is not the easiest of women.

This is all rather boring. However, Madonna claimed to want someone who would stand up to her, but she didn't really want that at all.

I just feel for the children. If she is so overbearing with them, they could not possibly be getting a healthy upbringing.

Oh heck. This stuff is rubbish. Divorce is ugly enough as it is, but divorce in a public forum is dreadful. How is this going to affect the kids? As for M's looks? Well, yeah, she looks great for 50, but I wish she would deign to wear some clothes and start acting her age. Jane Fonda looks a hell of a lot better, and she's two decades older.
