Madonna Divorce

Just days after their divorce was confirmed, mud is flying in the battle of Guy Ritchie and Madonna. First she slammed the "emotionally retarded" at her first post-divorce concert while introducing a song about marital estrangement. Now, accusations are flying and Guy's dad has stepped in with harsh words for his daughter-in-law.

From the Telegraph:

Friends have told a newspaper that that the marriage first ran into serious difficulties in 2005 when Madonna fell from her horse. She suffered eight broken bones and felt that Ritchie showed "a complete lack of love and sympathy". She is said to have demanded in a recent argument: "Did you ever actually love me?"

In his first comments about the marriage split, Ritchie's father, John, said of the reports: "She is being beastly. She is saying, 'Did you ever love me?' It goes back to a time when she fell off her horse and she's blaming him for that. She's calling him an emotional retard. When he's being bashed by her it's horrid."

Madonna says Guy said she looked like a granny:

Lawyers for the singer, who was widely believed to be the dominant partner in the marriage, are putting together a dossier of incidents.

They include allegations that he told her she 'looked like a granny' on stage compared with her younger backing dancers. He is also alleged to have declared that she could not act, and was 'past it' after she turned 50.

Her lawyers say that 40-year-old Ritchie's comments made Madonna feel worthless, unattractive, unfeminine, insecure and isolated during their eight-year marriage.

The Mail has learned that Madonna's case will chronicle how she first fell for Ritchie because she felt he was a challenge and that he was tough enough to stand up to her.

However, she apparently soon started to become affected by her husband's alleged put- downs which eventually started to eat away at her legendary confidence.

Another report is about the tight ship Madonna ran at home and had extreme personal grooming habits:

Her irrational food fads and increasingly bizarre attempts to hold back time - via surgery, exercise and every therapy going - certainly helped to doom their marriage.

How could anyone expect Ritchie, a macho man who is fond of the pub and likes to shoot pheasant, to dine contentedly every night on quinoa grains and organic vegetable dumplings?

And how was he supposed to react when his wife took to retiring at night slathered in £500-a-pot cream and covered in a plastic body-suit to hold back the signs of ageing?

It now emerges that every aspect of life at the Ritchie residence in London was dictated by the lady of the house. Madonna, who embraced a macrobiotic diet in the early 1990s, told her chefs what was permitted: she chose the precise blend of Colombian coffee and tutted over the exact provenance of air-freighted Canadian blueberries.

Guy, then, has allegedly had to endure a life married to a 5ft 4in domestic tyrant whose rules apparently included no TV, no newspapers, and no welcome for his 'London' friends - sustained on a diet which would make a Hollywood starlet feel faint.

He had to drink his tea every day with rice milk, as dairy is banned.

Everything Guy says is true...she does look like a granny: she has aged badly, and the use of Botox has made her look like an automaton. Yes, she most defintitely cannot act: Desperately Seeking Susan, where she played a egocentric brat, i.e, herself, was her best film. She, in sum, is most certainly "past it"...I use to find her wonderful, but that was maybe 1990...

I just saw Madonna's concert in Boston. She is in NO WAY past it. If you look at it from the angle of trying to act twenty years younger, then you could have a point. However, as a performance artist, she is MUCH better than the last time I saw her in 1990: her voice is better; her dancing is better, and she seems to be able to move her audience.

The Liz Smith article really says it all. For all the things people think they know about Madonna they really don't know her. She is a romantic. She is not this robot most make her out to be. She really believed this would work. She loved him. He in turn was emotionally not there, belittled her. She decided not to take it.

This is especially true yet most think the opposite: "For all Madonna"s reputation as a media manipulator, it always struck me that she kept her wedding private. No press. She didn"t sell photos, not even for charity. She took those vows seriously, as she did when she married Sean Penn. Divorce is a big thing to her; that vestige of childhood Catholicism."

So we shouldn't find it strange that she already has a lover.?...that this hyper milliionaire used to running everything...perhaps only thought she wanted someone who would stand up to her.?And calling her granny isn't bad, it could have been affectionate given she is ten years older than he is...I have a feeling that Madonna who has beem able to change and move with the times...has gotten caught by old Father Time. I think she hasn't a clue how to grow old gracefully. I

Also ...I think Madonna picking brawn instead of brains and a guy with a ready made tan was a shot across her husband's bow, but clearly back to Madonna's old m.o. when it comes to men. She always like them ethnic and exotic, but not to marry.

I think that his belittling of her was a passive-aggressive way of getting back at her for being so controlling. I mean...c'mon...not letting the guy eat what he wants to in his own house? Especially when her rules about diet are so strict...it sounds like life in a monastary!

And as far as her being a 'romantic'....that's malarkey. She's got huge narcissistic tendencies, as evidenced by that documentary or whatever it was that she did about herself. I don't remember what it was called, but Good Lord...she was just appalling! I can't even believe that she put it out for public viewing...that's how deluded she is about herself.
I mean...taking the camera crew with her so they could film her at her mother's grave. Warren Beatty said she was incapable of doing anything unless a camera was filming her.
I would imagine that would put a lot of strain on a marriage.

She really is beastly. I'm her age. I find her to be ridiculous...not someone to emulate or respect.
I feel so sorry for her kids...especially the boy she had with Ritchie.

Guy, this little piece of advice is for you, my friend...

Be happy with the millions you already own and get the hell away from her, NOW.

Poor Guy Ritchie. She made him eat right and take care of himself! And she dared to try and stay young looking and in shape. Just horrible!

Btw- she looks great. Veiny hands? Who cares. She has zero body fat right now no doubt due to touring but she looks good. I don't care what some of you say. She is very attractive.

Sounds like he was no emotionally there for her. I don't blame her.

Oh puhleeze. These comments about her looks are ridiculous. She looks great( esp in the photo above). These misgynistic comments are tiresome and they don't change anyone's mind about her. In fact, they are starting to get her sympathy.

Zero body fat is unattractive on a 25 year old, but it's hideous at anyone over 50..staying fit and trying to say young looking are 2 very different things. She will undoubtedly go under the knife soon, because it seems she has nothing but her physical appeal from which to feel good about herself. So sad.

She does look like a granny. HuffPost has even been posting articles on her veiny hands and arms as if it is freakish looking, because it is. And her acting does suck.

Lock, Stock and Snatch were excellent films and I can't wait to see his new one. It's supposed to be a return to his Lock, Stock and Snatch efforts and is supposed to be good.

Madonna is a cruel narcissist and I think she finally met her match.

Look, Madonna is an amazing performance artist. No one can blame her for doing her best to be able to hold on to the art form she's perfected after all these years. The fact that she can still sell out stadiums is a real testament to her as an artist.

She is in danger of becoming a parody of herself, though---but as anyone who's read Christopher Ciccone's book about his elder sis knows---she is wholly driven by her career and pretty loose on the ethical front when it comes to friends and family. She became rich and famous at a very young age and never learned the coping skills the rest of us had to learn by not having that kind of material heft to through around.

I feel sorry for Madonna in many ways. But I really feel sorry for her husband and kids. Why should they be subjected to life in a bubble because of her career? Good luck to them all.

I love Madonna and admit she is in danger of becoming a parody of herself. BUT, I also think Madonna knows that. She's at a crossroads now between Warner Brothers and Live Nation. Obviously, she wasn't going to deliver her best work on her last Warner Brothers album when she knew they wouldn't promote it. Madonna does her best work when something emotional really hits her. Expect her to deliver an album on the quality level of "Like a Prayer" very soon with a drastic image change.

From Liz Smith:

"People only think they know about Madonna. Exposing her body never meant exposing her soul — and she hasn’t. Madonna has actually remained singularly private about her private life. She tells exactly what she wants and how she wants to tell it. She won’t beg the media or her audience for love and understanding. Take her or leave her. This resistance to public vulnerability works against Madonna sometimes — she was truly stunned when she adopted little David Banda from Malawi and her charity efforts were questioned. But her strength, her refusal to cop a plea is what the fans love. And hate!

As to this situation with Guy Ritchie; they both tried hard. But I think Madonna tried harder — really! Still, she’s not going to adopt a victim pose, even if she feels she’s been done wrong. The press wants to see her brought low, have some emotional breakdown. Because that’s what the press wants from all celebrities — they give, they take, they “forgive” and give back, expecting gratitude. Madonna is not like other celebrities! (Go shove your forgiveness.)

For all Madonna’s reputation as a media manipulator, it always struck me that she kept her wedding private. No press. She didn’t sell photos, not even for charity. She took those vows seriously, as she did when she married Sean Penn. Divorce is a big thing to her; that vestige of childhood Catholicism. She is not sanguine about the end of her marriage.

It seems that divorce is the same for all of us---no matter how rich or poor.

"She was so mean---she made me eat....QUINOA".

"He's .....emotionally retarded".

He wanted to hunt pheasants and sit in the pub while she was healing from an injury. I've heard that story before--minus the pheasants, of course.

Her music did not mature so now she must compete with her own teenybopper lyrics. It's always been a commercial venture for her and not very genuine or soulful. A good business woman, yes, but she has always gained at the expense of someone else. She would do well to take a break, grow up, get out of her own way, artistically and spiritually and return with something to say. Same reason she has trouble with acting. One must fully surrender the ego and be fully present and vulnerable while acting a serious role. She has difficulty doing that.
