Questions Linger About McCain's Prognosis After Skin Cancer

In May, the presidential campaign of 72-year-old cancer survivor John McCain tried to put to rest doubts about his health by allowing a few reporters to inspect his medical records, but the effort has failed to quell questions about his odds of surviving an eight-year tenure in the White House.

One loosely organized group of physicians has been claiming in Web-based videos, op-ed columns and newspaper ads that McCain's risk of dying from a recurrence of the skin cancer he had treated eight years ago may be as high as 60 percent.

As an aside, The Bakersfield Californian endorsed McCain in Sunday's paper. No surprise. Hanging on to the old, in the form of the 8 year cancer-free, Palin-choosin', hot-headed, morals and integrity-free, John McCain.

My mother was diagnosed with a level 4 (there are 5 levels) melanoma in 1999. In 2000 the cancer had spread, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy. She died in 2001.

There is no history of breast cancer in our family, and no other woman in our family has to date been diagnosed with this disease. It is obvious that the melanoma was the culprit.

Melanoma is VERY serious and VERY dangerous. I would not cast my vote for anyone with that disease, unless I felt very strongly about his policies and would be very comfortable with his vice presidential selection.

In this case, none of the above. My vote goes to Obama/Biden

What a desperate & sick old Man. I do really believe strongly now that there has to be more Medical reports made public. There is not much question that even underneath the heavy makeup, there is a huge problem growing. The Dr. will have a lot to answer for is our take.

Just consider how the job of POTUS that john McCain is applying for prematurely ages all who undertake its profound resposibilities, even the young and robust like Bill Clinton and GWBush. Then face the realitiy that the job THIS time around will be "on steroids" considering how much deeper in the doodoo we are than ever before. We need a strong, young, resiliant and intelligent leader and the only other applicant for the Job is Barack Obama who is all of these things.

Cancer has a tendency to recur and this is borne out by the fact that McCain has suffered 3 relapses of his original case. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, but recent breakthroughs in medical research have resulted in some wondeful gains against this killer. Still The stresses, both physical and mental of the resposibilities of the POTUS are tremendous and will escalate premature aging and all the resulting, degenerative pathophysiology to warp speed, particularly given the exceptional problems we and any leader now face. Just LOOK at McCain now, and imagine him after 3 years under such stress.

You betcha! The month of conception for Trig, the first gentleman was working on the other side of Alaska for BP. Myself coming from a Irish-catholic background know of plenty of families with siblings born 10 or 11 months apart. Remember they said Bristol is AROUND 5 months pregnant,

The question of McCains health will not gain traction: CNN (over here) just aired "Fit to Lead" - the name says it all. The health of presidents to be, gone, gone but still in evidence, and W! But the main thing here is DR. Gupta (the caps seem necessary, since he insists on repeating DR over and over and over...!) states
a) that he (and the can't remember how many specialists who were granted access) laboured over a 1000 documents submitted by the McCain camp, and their conclusion was that he's fine, and that his Mom is 90 something years old (amazing how journalists kiss a$$ sometimes - borderline porn!!!);
b) that the Obama camp only provided a single page of medical info, and Obamas a repentant smoker, his Mom died of cancer, his Grandfather died of cancer, Biden had an aneurism...;
c) that the mental health of the president is an issue (duh!!!!), and that includes seeing a shrink for whatever reason (a POW superhero gets a free pass on that one - albeit Daddy and Grandaddy issues!);!!
So you heard it here first - the next smear: Obamas hiding his medical records 'cos he consulted a shrink, caught syphillis, and's carrying some un-American virus he's gonna unleash on pro-Americans (please don't ell me you think ithats beyond them!)!!! And btw, am I wrong or did WaPo change the info provided on that link?
