ACORN Offices Get Racist, Violent Threats After McCain Claims

It's bad enough that the employees of ACORN have had to endure days of baseless and outlandish attacks by John McCain and the RNC. But after McCain outrageously claimed before a national audience on Wednesday night that ACORN was "maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy," the group came under attack, literally. In the following days, ACORN's Boston and Seattle offices were vandalized and at least one employee received a death threat.

And for nearly two weeks, ACORN offices across the nation have been subjected to an onslaught of racist and threatening voicemails and emails. We have secured copies of some of the most disturbing and offensive messages and have reproduced them below in order to show the very real consequences of the Right Wing's overheated and misplaced "voter fraud" rhetoric.

The Republicans, as usual, have everything backwards. What we've learned is that questionable registrations are caught. An example: here in Michigan my handicapped daughter qualifies for absentee voting. However, the signature on her absentee form didn't look similar enough to her previous registration and her application was rejected; she needed to reconfirm her signature. The process works. The real, actual fear in this country has always been voter suppression, a tactic that Republicans have used over and over. That's what needs to be corrected and stopped.

There was a break-in and burglary at the ACORN offices in Boston last week. This didn't seem to get much national coverage, but it's just another example of how these morons are getting charged up by all the irresponsible statements coming from McCain/Pal­in/Fox/Sav­age/Limbau­gh/etc.

If the DOJ is getting pressured by republicans to investigate ACORN and if the Obama campaign is requesting an attorney to look into the fraudulent claims by the democrats I would say for sure that the FBI is going to investigate this hate mail/calls. For any of you low information numbskulls thinking to leave these messages I would be careful because ACORN probably is being looked at through a microscope right now and you will get your a##es handed to you. It is unlawful to make these threats and it's very easy to trace calls and emails.

Exactly. John McCain and Sarah Palin are lying to themselves and to the American people if they think that they are innocent bystanders in all of this. They definitely had a hand in manufacturing all this extreme outrage that's leading to hate and racism currently taking place on the right across the country. It's actually quite scary, and John McCain doesn't seem to have any control over it.

Acorn does not "register" voters they simply turn in the applications only the "registar of voters" allows for a person to vote or not , so where's the fraud, the fraud is the story itself!!!

ACORN hires lazy empolyees who fill out fraudulent forms rather than doing the legwork of gathering legitimate registrations.

ACORN collects these forms, realized that many are clearly frauds, but, to my understanding, ACORN is still required by law to submit the forms to the states.

So, though ACORN's hiring standards may leave something to be desired, their actions would seem to be the only possible one within the law.

There are many more registrations that are legitimate, and since the fraudulent ones are not registered, there is not fraud on ACORN's part!

I'm not surprised at this and it saddens me a great deal. It also the main reason why I didn't want Mr. Obama to denounce/repudiate John Lewis' words because I knew exactly what he meant. But some words of causion to these hateful people....­........ this is NOT 1960. Just keep that in mind....
