More West Virginia Voters Say Machine Flipping Votes From Democrat To Republican

Charleston Gazette:

Three Putnam County voters say electronic voting machines changed their votes from Democrats to Republicans when they cast early ballots last week.

This is the second West Virginia county where voters have reported this problem. Last week, three voters in Jackson County told The Charleston Gazette their electronic vote for "Barack Obama" kept flipping to "John McCain".

That's against the law. Everybody is entitled (by law) to have a paper ballot if they request it. They should have called the poilice.

Stardot made an excellent post below at 08:43 AM on 10/20/2008. These electronic machines should not be used if no paper trail is left. Diebold makes ATM's, so why would they make a voting machine that does not issue a receipt? Check out the video "UnCounted". You'll see how this company was dedicated to seeing Bush win the White House.

Not just the presidential election, people should look at incumbents too and see if they're worthy of reelection. Where I live, none of them are fit to be reelected. The voters in W.VA need to get someone other than the county clerk and his staff involved.

I would not leave the polling station until I knew my vote was cast correctly, people need to bring their cell phones if they have cameras on them and record their votes.

Reports are that in CA GOP has allegedly duped voters into changing their dem registration to repub by telling them that they are signing a child molester petition !!! One GOP operative involved has been arrested and is now out on bail !!!

Huh, Republicans in charge and the votes are flipping to the Republican candidates. Where is the outrage from McCain camp on this possible fraud? Imagine if one person reported the opposite ... McCain and fellow pitbulls would have every American believing that Obama had personally sent Ayers to rig every voting machine in West Virginia. What we need are voting machines that print a receipt like ATM machines - drop it in a box on your way out the door .... Questions later, just count the paper receipts. That is too easy and too democratic for the thieves in power now. Maybe the Rovian fraud and voter suppression underway is why the Republican pundits keep trying to bring up the "Bradley effect." An excuse for the stolen votes? An alibi for the stolen votes? Maybe, just maybe, this time America is smarter.

Not all voting machines are garbage. The ones Washington State and many other states use have a paper trail.

However, I wouldn't vote on a machine without a paper trail. I remember the 2004 story from Ohio where the Deibolt guy was in changing all the machines' software the morning of the election.

The answer isn't "No machines", the answer is "Open Source Coding" and audited hardware. Diebold refuses to do either one of these systems, which any accounting system would be REQUIRED to have tested in the real world.
