A string of new state polls suggests Barack Obama still holds an advantage in several key battleground states, and is within single digits in a state that has voted Republican in the last two presidential elections.

New CNN poll of polls in three swing states -- Ohio, Wisconsin, and Minnesota -- show the Illinois senator with a lead, while a new poll in West Virginia puts John McCain ahead.

here's something to comtemplate. nate silver, the creator of fivethirtyeight.com, predicted the tampa bay rays would win 90 games. he did came to this conclusion by crunching numbers in various scenarios. he was wrong. not only did the rays win 96 games, they're headed to the world series! he is predicting obama would get around 344 EVs compared to mccain who would get 194. so why do i bring this up? because the MSM can't bring themselves to tell us the truth! although the "L" word, landslide has been occasionally mentioned, people like chuck todd tossed that theory to the side. why? because they're getting paid to say so. we all know the truth. these last two weeks are a mere formality. obama will win huge! i predict 369 to 169.

I am more worried about the electonic machines in Virginia that keeps switching the vote from obama to McCain. This needs to get out there and people need to take their camera into the booth to document the switching as proof. The Republicans are at it again trying to steal another election.

Maybe I havent been attention, but when did ND switch to undecided? I find that shocking!

Of course he's ahead, not everyone in this country thinks like the GOP, thank God.

actually, a very small percentage of people think that way. they just have disproportionately big mouths and small minds enabling them to attract media attention.

Obama leads McCain by 10 points-Wash Post/ABC poll

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:13 AM on 10/20/2008

Yeah....that's the second poll in 24 hours which shows a double-digit spread.....all this after pundits are claiming the race is tightening, etc......

& then there are polls which show a 3-point spread, a 7-point spread, an 8-point spread. Those #'s are gonna go all over the f#ing place for the next 14 days.

Race'll tighten. Focus on the electoral votes, the state polls...the closer to election day we get, the more the popular/national vote polls lose their meaning.

Yup...second poll in the past 24 hrs. which puts his lead at double-digits....then there are polls which put his lead between 3-8 percent....so the numbers are gonna go all over the place in these last 14 days.

I suggest not focusing on the popular vote polls....focus on the state polls...the electoral votes. Obama/Biden is in very good shape.

Of course West Virginia is going red; back in the primaries voters went on national television to say that they couldn't vote for Barack because he is black!!! Helloooo!!!! F@ck!n' racism has becoming more clear on this days, shame on you West Virginia!!!!

It probably will...but that's not the point....the point is...Joe Biden goes there Friday.....if Barack can make just one visit there...or if not him....then Hillary.....

.....it forces mccain/palin to invest time and resources in that state, which they DO NOT HAVE.

republicans are spread too thin...and they're outta money.....they have too many states they have to stretch to hold onto.....

W. Va., N. Carolina, N. Dakota, Indiana (for chrissake !!! republicans are fighting to keep Indiana !!!!), Ohio, Missouri, Florida, Nevada.....and add now Montana and Georgia !!!!!

And this is all based on pre-Powell-polls !!!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:27 AM on 10/20/2008

Keep making mccain/palin fight in all ten of those tossup states.....they don't have the energy, the volunteers, the staff, or the funds to hold all of those places.

Clearly, they are gonna try to STEAL those places....see what's goin' on in W. Va ?????......

But they are spread too thin....and lack the resources and intelligence...to pull it off.

Be vigilant....and don't freak if the race tightens....

(although also keep in mind that all of these polls....were pre-Powell endorsement. That is gonna change a lotta things. Watch what happens in the polls by midweek.....it'll be good stuff....)

I just found out the BO campaign gave 800 grand to ACORN during the primaries. I thought he said he had no connection.

Obama to amend report on $800,000 in spending

By David M. Brown
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Friday, August 22, 2008

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now for services the Democrat's campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal reports.

An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in "get-out-the-vote" projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary.

We must vote, vote as soon as we can, check for early voting in our state. McCain and Palin are on a rampage of hate, and sadly they seem to be capturing the support (like in West Virginia) of the fearful voters who can least afford them. Vote and contribute to assure that Obama prevails.

The McCain campaign reminds me of those targets in a shooting gallery. When you hit them when they are going in one direction, they turn around and start going in the opposite direction. No matter how many times you keep hitting them, they keep changing directions. Thus it is with the McCain campaign. Here's something for the Obama surrogates to mention ALL WEEK NEXT WEEK! "SOCIALISM" has already happened and John McCain voted for it as well as Barack Obama.
"Socialism" has also happened in the last week when it was decided to give money DIRECTLY TO BANKS from the FEDERAL RESERVE! This is called 'NATIONALIZATION' and was done in Britain and Sweden and France, to name just a few of those 'dangerously Socialist countries in Europe.'

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:20 AM on 10/20/2008

The US administration did NOT take over the banks, they injected money into banks, taken shares of those banks. Socialism , the banks would NOT have private owners/investors. Socialism - key industries would be state run.
Get the terminology right. This would be called a social democracy, which is in place in most if not all European / Asian democracies.
There are enough lies from the right lets not add to them!

Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton team up in Florida Monday-- their first joint campaign swing since the Unity, New Hampshire rally in June.
Also expected to join-- Gov. Richardson.

Hillary and Richardson together. The Dems finally have everything rolling together

excellent -- FL, CO and VA are the key states at this point IMHO

I'm going to be volunteering, along with thousands of others in Colorado, to work the phones and go door to door. We've got to get every possible vote.

We need Hillary in there now ! She needs to be more visible in these last 14 days.

Dont anyone fall for this hype. By election day the polls will be 51-49 in either direction. We must have a much larger turnout than the extremistright to overcome the usual dirtytricks.

The problem is that the polls are narrowing for no apparent reason. Obama won all 3 debates. He's been endorsed by every important paper and person in the world. He's raised record numbers of dollars from enthusiastic supporters and he holds rallys with more people attending than a Led Zeppelin reunion tour. McCain and his moose-maiden are nasty, negative attack dogs with very little to offer anybody... and yet here they are.... way too close for comfort.

I just don't get it.

Don't worry about it just vote. That's all you have to get. Don't start reading into these polls. That is what Obama was trying to say the other day. Just vote.

Like kevin seven said....polls narrow. I say: forget paying attention to the popular vote polls.

Go to fivethirtyeight.com...OR...if you wanna play it more towards the conservative side (might not be a bad idea) go to realclearpolitics.com.

Skip over the national polls....go straight to the electoral maps and the state polls.

It'll calm everyone down. The Prez is elected thru the electoral college...electoral votes....state by state as we all know...

Look at those maps. mccain/palin has too many states to fight in....they are running outta money...they are out of ideas....they are out of their league....

They can only try to vote steal now....(they already are in W. Va !!!!)...but they can't get close enough to win.....

It'll narrow. Stay cool. We're gonna do this.

I received this email, I am not sure if it is true, but I am passing it on. Better safe than sorry!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE advise everyone you know that they absolutely
cannot go to the polls wearing any "political" shirts, pins or hats, it is
against the law and will be grounds to have the polling officials to
turn you away.

That is considered "campaigning" and no one can campaign within a certain
amount of feet of the polls, which will really be enforced this year.

They are hoping that if you are turned away you will not go home
and change your clothes. Please just don't wear Obama gear of any sorts
to the polls!!

Please share this information just in case!

I actually heard about this. There was a lawyer on the Michael Baisden show(he's a huge Obama supporter) and the lawyer said that it differs in different states. She said there are some states where you can't wear political buttons, t-shirts etc.

So Obama supporters it's best to not wear any Obama stickers, buttons, t-shirts, caps, headbands etc.
Leave it at home!

I am wearing a blue shirt, no buttons, no slogans. Just Blue for Obama.
