Chevy Chase Pans Sarah Palin's SNL Appearance

Access Hollywood landed an interview with SNL alum Chevy Chase, who thinks Sarah Palin bombed on "Saturday Night Live".

"Quite frankly, it's a big mistake to let her go on," Chevy told Access Hollywood at the Give Food a Chance benefit in New York. "What was brilliant about ['SNL' chief] Lorne [Michaels] was that he had nothing written for Sarah and that apparently she cannot improvise herself out of a paper bag!...

"On 'Weekend Update,' that was her big chance," he said. "Nothing."

But Chevy was critical not only of Sarah's comedic chops, but of the political campaign of her running mate, Sen. John McCain.

"The management behind McCain's campaign has been dumb. This has only helped accentuate the problem of his judgment in choosing, in such a cynical way, a candidate like Sarah Palin for vice president. I think the last thing that they would want right about now is to have the rest of America knowing all that... to have her be seen on 'SNL,' certainly never there. If anything, you just want her to be seen just from a distance."

"I'm sure she's very bright," he added. "But so is the Butterworth woman."

But Chevy had kinder words for Tina Fey, the "30 Rock" star and "SNL" alum who has returned to the show several times this season to play Sarah, including Saturday's opening sketch.

"I think Tina Fey's in a lot of trouble," he laughed. "Because after Jerry Ford lost, I made about $80 million. Are you kidding? You're talking to the wrong guy here. Tina's great!"

I agree with everyone that has pointed out that Chevy Chase is a has been and that Sarah Palin is much prettier than Tina Fey. I would also like to point out that she has not said all the stupid things that Joe Biden has said. There isn't enough room to print them all - check out all the mistakes from the debate! Also, Stand up Chuck! That's a great one - or "This campaign is about one three letter word J-O--B-S. the difference between biden and palin is simply this.
biden is an incredibly intelligent man who has passion and sometimes talks a little faster than he should.
palin, on the other hand, is not the sharpest tool in the shed, and honestly does not possess the ability to have original, inovative thought.
she might have been right on track handling the gauntlet of issues for her home state, but that limited ability does work well in INTERNATIONAL affairs.
also, i have only seen the woman successfully regurgitate information fed her.
not really an honorable qualification for the potential next vp or president of the u.s.

Chevy couldn't scare up any of his prominent friends for his recent Friar's Club roast. Dan Aykroyd, Lorne Michaels, Steve Martin and Martin Short were no shows.

The big joke on SNL was that Palin doesn't talk to the media. When was the last time that Joe (Bad Plugs) Biden talked to the media. Oh wait, Obama doesn't let him do that, he is too worried about what Joe might say.

Poor Sarah. An impossible position, really. If she didn't do it, everyone would say she was chicken. We know what they are saying now that she has done it. But all things considered, the campaign should have nixed her appearance. Why? Because she already is suspected of being a liteweight. Being the brunt of the joke on a sophmoric comedy show will hardly give gravitas to her persona. Another stupid McCain move.

Great idea, except for absentee voting, in my opinion. Unless you MUST mail in your ballot, all of the literature on this subject as it relates to voter suppression, fraud and caging says your ballot is in serious danger if you mail it. I would urge all Obama voters with the option to VOTE IN PERSON unless it is absolutely impossible. If you MUST mail in your ballot, I'd STRONGLY urge three things:

1. If you MUST mail in your ballot, check for any kind of "gotcha requirements" like a necessary envelope size, official envelopes vs. practically-guaranteed-to-be-thrown-away "non-official" ones, making sure your ballot won't be thrown STRAIGHT into the garbage because it doesn't meet unique-to-your-state requirements: e.g. not notarized or because it is not accompanied by official voter's registration card and state issued ID or other "acceptable form of ID."
2. If you MUST mail in your ballot, ask someone who lives near your polling place (family or friends of you are away at school) to personally drop it and get some kind of a receipt if possible. I do not know if it is possible...
3. If you MUST mail in your ballot, considering registered mail or the option for delivery confirmation (if going with USPS), or signature required delivery if going with a private carrier.

I want moring Joe to have have Sarah Palin on for 30 days straight as a guest because he thought the selection of John Mc Cain was great. Joe kept on promoting Sarah as a great choice and how brillant the selction was. Joe says he is fair and balanced but he has allot of Sarah Palin in him but just a little more refined. Joe thinks everyone is stupid and cnnot see through his b.s.

Just like every human he has his likes and dislikes and Joe has a very very strong dislike of Barak Obama. He cannot cover it up and it is so easy to see who he is in the tank for.

For the first time, I was able to tolerate (i.e., not have a seizure and throw things at the t.v.) Palin. A far cry from ever, ever thinking of supporting her, but tolerable, nonetheless.

I was weary of her appearance, fearing it would give her a platform to sway some votes; however, it seemed like the show was making fun of her to her face, and she was just too stupid to get the joke.

Props to Tina Fey (again) and to Amy Poehler. Her rap was too hilarious!!!

I only watched it to see if she would do a variation of her performance on the Katie Couric interview. That really would have been fun. But she was just dull, flat and snide.
