Jon Stewart recently spoke in Boston on Palin's comments about the "pro-America" parts of the country. Video below.

"She said that small towns, that's the part of the country she really likes going to because that's the pro-America part of the country. You know, I just want to say to her, just very quickly: [expletive] you," Stewart said to raucous applause.

Palin addressed a North Carolina fund-raiser Thursday night saying, "We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe...that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation."

The comment was quickly picked up by media outlets and the Obama campaign, whose spokesman Bill Burton asked in an e-mail to reporters, "What part of the country isn't pro-America?"

...

"I can't take it anymore...After eight years of this divisiveness, we're back to this idea that only small-town America is the real America," he said.

It's just like the Huffington Post to have ad banners
promoting books that deny the existence of Jesus Christ. (Ahem, bigotry?)

I guess there's no such thing as a real America
just like there's no such thing as a real Christ.

Jon Stewart thinks he's heroic for hurling an obscenity to a sympathetic crowd.

At least Sarah Palin has the courage to appear on national television among people who dislike her and mock her.

When was the last time he did that?

John Stewart is a funny guy. I like him a lot, but he just jumped on the "taken out of context" bandwagon. It's pretty easy to pick something out, take it out of context and turn the whole thing around.

She was just making a point that the best of America isn't confined to Washington D.C.

Thank goodness I live in a small town so I can be a "real American."

Note to Palin: I wouldn't vote for you as dog catcher. I am white, middle aged, female, and Southern and I find your divisive inflamatory retoric offensive. I find it even more offensive that you think this kind of garbage would cause me to do anything but RUN to vote for Obama.

I'm sure she's sweating worried about what you think.

White, Middle Aged, Female and Southern
...and you're running to vote for Obama?

In case you didn't notice, you're the exception to the rule.

For who responded to my post, I thought this made a better way to communicate than try to contact each one individually. Even though many of you chose to just try to be nasty, I absolutely agree with a few points that were made, New York Firefighters, police, EMT's, all involved. The innocent in Oklahoma, and many other world wide tragedies that we have seen not only patriotism, but some of the best men and women give everything they could for others, very unselfishly.
My point was not to debate "my town is better than your town". I am sure there are micro towns within big cities and probably many of you have seen the same type of community and caring that I have. I would never take that kindness for granted. I hope that as you are being judge and jury, critisize and make fun of my comments that you have done something within your own communities to be a positive role model. We truly try. I may be bias on how I see our town, but I will be honest, we are blessed to have wonderful people around us. Believe it or not, I do know patriotism goes beyond a parade. If that is all you took from my message than you randomly chose what to read, and that is another big point of why we are having so much trouble in this election. Just be an informed voter. I Still don't understand the problem with that statement.

So, for those serving in the military, that are from, let's say Big Cities that lean liberal...does that mean those troops who put their lives on the line for this country are not patriotic?

That statement was completely disrespectful to every soldier, sailor, airmen, and marine who serve. It's disrespectful to their families who have to say goodbye to them as they go serve yet another tour in Iraq and worry if they'll ever see them again. It's disrespectful to every citizen, in every corner, in every pocket of this country. And to have it come out of the mouth of a Governor of one of our 50 states...out of the mouth of someone who wants to be our next Vice President....was extremely shocking and very disrespectful!!

I hate to break this to you but Stewart will go on being funny even if Obama is elected. You really don't think Obama will not do funny things? Come on, certainly he will have gaffs and politicians, even the great ones, make mistakes. Besides, you don't think the Republican party is going away, do you? Now there is a real source of comedic fodder!

If anyone would really READ what she says, she says "it is not ALL in Washington, D.C." She isn't saying that it is NOT in Washington, D.C. , just not ALL in Washington, D.C. meaning that the best is in Washington, D.C. and the other small communities.

Its unbelievable how people TWIST things like this

Zmost?

It is just that we have seen the troubles that come when a singularity of worldview is professed.

History is full of would-be Dictators, Emperors and Despots that thought they the ones in sole possession of the truth.

Most recently, we saw the effects of this sort of thinking in the Saudi Extremists that attacked us on 911. Ideological Extremism and Theocracies dot all of history, their product, the result of unchecked Greed and Power,,, overwhelmingly,,, is DEATH and WAR.

It is NOT Sarah Palin that I would oppose, it is the Neo-Con Extremists that direct her every word.

I am not angry with Sarah Palin,, I oppose the mindset of divisiveness and HATE she brings to the American people, to the conversation of our diverse understandings.

Greed may sell.
Hate may sell.
Sex may sell.
Excess may sell.

But only for a little while, when people sober up, we ultimately need each other to succeed.

Crush Business and no one prospers.
Crush the people and no one is there to buy your products.

It is always a balance.

Does Sarah even understand these basics of a FREE society?

NO!

All the best

C'mon, everybody knows what she was saying. When she was talking about the better Americans in small towns in red states what she meant was WHITE PEOPLE.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Here is the Poli-Slang PC terms for describing certain areas or people:

SMALL TOWN = WHITE.

MIDDLE CLASS = WHITE / OTHERS.

URBAN / GHETTO = BLACK / LATINO.

NEW YORK CITY = MANHATTAN / Uptown.

Cut it out. These are all alternative terminologies of saying what people who dance around their bigotry really mean. When she said "small town" she knew damn well what she meant. Then she said "Anti-Amerikan" she meant 'Liberal' or 'Black Radical'. Lets cut the BS, ZMOST.

NTOo8????

Huff-Po lets you speak. Show me the Bias?

YOU ARE HERE! YOU HAVE A VOICE HERE.

John Stewart is addressing the divisive and horrible rhetoric flowing out of the Mouth of Sarah Palin that undermines the very core of American Values.

A Nation of people UNITED,,, not always agreeing, but equally defending ALL OUR RIGHTS to be heard and influence the direction of the Nation. To influence each other. To share diverse opinions and seek common ground and progress as a people and as a nation.

Truth is not an arrow from a single bow,,, it is a River that flows ever forward. Sometimes overflowing its banks, sometimes moving slowly, sometimes swiftly BUT, Sarah Palin would seek to divide that river, and to dam-up only one course. The power of our River is strongest when flowing in concert free to test all boundaries, NOT dammed-up and choked.

Sarah’s HATE SPEECH and division, pandering to prejudice and fears is WRONG.

You can drink from our River, even sample the flow to water your fields, you can cross our River by entering up stream and working with the current, but try to DAM this River and you will only succeed for a short time. Eventually, the River will break free. all fields watered again.

All the best

Unfortunately, she is right. You see a lot more American flags in rural American towns and roads than you see in urban America and you see a lot more people in rural areas more concerned about "quality of life" than the urban values of "quantity obtained in life." In urban areas, it is "all about me." In rural areas, its, "Its All About Us."

So, don't be so hard on her....there is a real difference, the reason people flock out of the cities into the rural life (like Pelosi and her Napa Villa......and tons of others who have the means to get away....)

As far as Jon Stewart's statements, pretty trashy and filth. Its sad to see Democrats act like children.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:39 AM on 10/23/2008

So flying the flag makes you a patriot? Just seeing flags means the people are more pro-America? Come on ...
Rural America is more about values? Going out on weekends to get drunk and beat your wife is "values"? Come on ....
Heh, I can stereotype as well as you ...
Patriotism and values are within, outwards displays are just that - you dont know what's inside. Look closely, listen carefully, don't judge based on superficial facts.

And ... Jon Stewart is funny (to me), whether he's uses the F word or not. He's not alone in using "childish" language, many people do, even "respected" ones.

Unfortunately, Palin is WRONG.

I live in a rural area now, but two years ago, I lived in an urban area. I tried to fly an American flag there, but it was stolen. I tired to fly an American flag at my rural home, but it was also stolen. I am out of flags.

What is patriotism? I think that an educated citizenry that works to make the country prosperous and peaceful is a patriotic goal. Celebrating stereotypes such as "Joe Sixpack" is praising the worst of America. Nobody wants to be "Joe Sixpack." Think about what he represents. Is that who you are? Is that what you want to be?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:37 AM on 10/23/2008

What a shallow way to be patriotic.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:25 AM on 10/23/2008

Right, so when those NYC firefighters and cops ran into the Twin Towers to save people's lives, I'm sure they were thinking "it's all about me".
So when people from urban areas run and organize, literally, hundreds of organizations in their neighborhoods that feed people, house people, teach kids and offer safe after school programs, give loans to businesses that are trying to make it, you know all those things that "real Americans" talk about...guess that doesn't count as "patriotic".
Silly us urban people for thinking that patriotism was in our actions, not in superficial displays.
Anyone can wave a flag and slap a bumper sticker on their car - I would hope that that's not all that patriotism means in this country.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:52 AM on 10/23/2008

Look Lindy, I live in a damn small rural town and these folks are not all "it's all about us" here. Wait, correction, the ONLY time these folks are "all about us" are if you're a member of their church or kids attend the same school.

So being that I am a non-church-goer and a non-kids-going-to-the-same-school-as-your-kids, I do not feel the sentiment that small towns have that "it's all about us by golly" mindset....

It's actually quite the opposite, "if your not like us your on your own, because in this town, it's all about US"
