Politico:

On a day on which McCain campaign manager Rick Davis hinted that Obama was taking foreign money, the Russian Mission to the United Nations has released a standard-issue fundraising letter gone a bit astray: It was addressed to the Russian envoy to the U.N., Vitaly Churkin, at the mission's address, but without his title.

As the Russian newswire RIA-Novosti tells it:

Russia's permanent mission to the UN has received a letter from U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain asking for financial support of his election campaign, the mission said in a statement on Monday.

"We have received a letter from Senator John McCain with a request for a financial donation to his presidential election campaign. In this respect we have to reiterate that neither Russia's permanent mission to the UN nor the Russian government or its officials finance political activities in foreign countries," the statement said.

McCain has long ago joined his very good friend Bushie in the "Axis of Evil" Club!

It is illegal for a political contender to take money from a foreign national. Wow, what an utterly stupid move.

Dan Burton once tried to shake down a lobbyist for the Turkish government for a contribution. Everybody knew it happened, but did McCain say anything about this outrageous move? No.

Now McCain has sunk to the uber-cretin Burton's level. Maybe they go watermelon hunting together heh heh heh.

Is this true?

Hello everyone, I am a proud democrat who have only one concern, and that is the future of my family and loveones. The republican canadate John Maccain doesnt give a hoot about me and my family. He voted with Bush 90% of the time and never cared about the middle class before. Now all of a sudden he cares, "please" its just politics as usual, say what he can to get in office, then when he get their turn his back on us and cater to his buddies, the oil companies and other cooporate giant. John Maccain only chose Sara Palin as his running mate because she can be controlled by him. Why else would he choose a running mate that cant even answer a simple question about what kind of books she reads. Maccain would have been better off choosing Joe Leiberman or Joe the plumber as a running mate. My 6 year old son have a better understanding of American history than Sara Palin. Oh by the way Mr. Maccain, since you seems to address everybody as your friend, I might be evicted from my place soon. Can i stay at one of your thirteen houses? after all what are friends for.

Tell me why the polls are close?

They are close in some, and widely spread in others. The reason this happens is that the polls are taken from very small pools of respondents, so the chance that they DON''T represent the correct picture is magnified.

A bigger pool of respondents can be found in the futures markets, where they are predicting something like 85% in favor of Obama. The law of statistics is that the larger the sample size the more accurate the representation. So go look at the prediction markets with tens of thousands and more sample size and you'll see that it isn't even close.

WHICH "country first"?

I can understand how this address could get onto the McCain mailing list by accident. The fact that the recipient of the request was Russian does not disturb me greatly. Mistakes happen.

However, having accepted public financing, McCain should not be soliciting campaign donations from anybody - Russian or American. Is this not a violation?

I agree. I was saying in an earlier post that some intern or campaign staffer is fighting the urge to slit his/her own wrists. The only reason this is getting any real steam is because McCain's campaign decided to question Obama's contributors. If he hadn't gone so low to do that, this would never have even been published or questioned.

Perhaps it was just a computer-generated one to that particular address...all the same, it is funny. Maybe Sen. McCain heard about Iceland's financial problems and wanted a spoonful of compote. ;-)

So McCain stood on Palin's porch and actually thought he saw money for his campaign coming from Russia.

I thought foreign donations to a political campaign was a NO-NO..................... Doesn't McCain understand this?

Is this what being a Maverick means? ........................... Publically speak ill of another country in very angry tones, then sneak around in the dark of night and away from the public and BEG that same country for contributions to a floundering campaign.
