Murdered Bear Cub Dumped On Campus With Obama Signs

CULLOWHEE - A dead bear was found dumped this morning on the Western Carolina University campus, draped with a pair of Obama campaign signs, university police said.

Maintenance workers reported about 7:45 a.m. finding a 75-pound bear cub dumped at the roundabout near the Catamount statute at the entrance to campus, said Tom Johnson, chief of university police.

I hear the so-called 'First Dude' recently told a group that hunting and fishing are our "core values". Really?! I wonder if his wife's supporters took that comment to heart and decided to make an unambiguous political statement out of it, too. Hey, anything to make the leaders of their ticket "very proud" ...

According to the secessionists (Sarah and Ted Palin) who are a mere election away from being a heartbeat away from the presidency, America's core values are "hunting and fishing." Hmmm. That might lead to another post, but for now it makes for an opening.

You see, bear season is on in the Carolinas.

And someone saw in that intersection of political season with hunting season an opportunity to make a shocking statement and declare an open season on civility.

Yesterday morning, someone (or a mob of someones) murdered a 75-pound bear cub, execution-style, plastered it with Obama materials, and dumped its body on the campus greens at Western Carolina University. News link here.

Just the day before, one of the Obama campaign's Illinois campaign volunteers was assaulted--physically--by an angry homeowner who answered the door.

And now, this stunning act of animal cruelty.

When will Citizen McCain realize that he is whipping people into a froth and take some responsibility? It's now officially getting violent, not just "sounding" violent.

McCain's team has yelled "fire" in a crowded theatre and this is what the beginnings of a stampede look like. Surely McCain's ambition cannot be THAT blind. Surely, he must see his own culpability.

He should call off his dogs--now. His last shreds of decency depend upon it.

I can't beleive that the vast majority of McP supporters are this ignorant, loathing, and fearful and that McP hasn't done anything to stop it.

Maybe this was a couple of idiot students with a hunting license trying to make waves. Or maybe it really was some neanderthal acting out of hate. Either way, I've seen enough of these wingnut tantrums (the angry screaming at Palin rallies, Obama supporters getting their tires slashed, the Denver field office having bricks thrown through the window, an Obama figure burned in effigy, etc) to last a lifetime. It's the frequency of these actions and the associated rhetoric on the Right that really concerns me. I hope the Secret Service agents assigned to Barack and Joe are seriously on their game. I walked right in to the Tacoma stadium where Joe spoke this weekend and came across absolutely no security checkpoints. I was happy to get seated quickly, but as I watched the other 12,000 people streaming in uninhibited, some with backpacks we weren't supposed to bring... well, needless to say it didn't do much to stir my confidence in the safety of our guys. I guess stadium security is not the role of the Secret Service, but you get my point.

I believe these attacks will only intensify in the coming weeks as these inbreds become more and more desperate. They are scared in fact they are terrified of a Black man becoming President. I think these idoits would rather see the country destoryed than to have Obama as president. I pray for his saftey.

I used to work at WCU in Cullowhee. It's a very peaceful place, surrounded by beautiful mountains and populated by (for the most part) friendly people. Unfortunately, it is also a place where the occasional confederate flag is displayed on a pickup truck or tee shirt.

It pains me to think of something like this happening. I want to cry at the thought of that poor bear cub and at the thought that some young student (or young child of a staff or faculty member) might have come across this hideous display of cruelty and cowardice.

Shame on whoever did this and shame on McCain and Palin for turning a blind eye to the anger and hatred of some of their supporters. I'm afraid that voter intimidation of this and other sorts is not a rare occurrence.
