Murdered Bear Cub Dumped On Campus With Obama Signs

CULLOWHEE - A dead bear was found dumped this morning on the Western Carolina University campus, draped with a pair of Obama campaign signs, university police said.

Maintenance workers reported about 7:45 a.m. finding a 75-pound bear cub dumped at the roundabout near the Catamount statute at the entrance to campus, said Tom Johnson, chief of university police.

This is a blatant attempt to intimidate college student who are likely to vote for Obama. First the rhetoric and shouted words, then the symbolic acts like this dead bear and the guy who hung Obama in effigy. Next someone is going to get hurt.

Where is the FBI and why aren't they warning the McCain campaign of the danger they may be in of committing the very serious crime of incitement? Is it going to take a riot before they do something?

I just got hysterical telling my husband about this story - crying, sobbing, hysterical. I kind of surprised myself. I knew that I was stressed out about this election, but now I feel I'm at the edge of a nervous breakdown. Voter intimidation, slander of good people, threats of violence, now actual violence. I wouldn't have believed it six months ago, but I think a McCain administration might very well be worse than the last 8 years. McCain and Palin can't win, they just can't.

Just make sure that you vote and convince others to vote for Obama. This is the only way to beat them. This country needs to heal. No one has really addressed the issues of race in this country. It has been kind of pushed back or ignored. Like a relationship, you can't keep pretending that nothing is wrong. Eventually, someone has to break the ice and talk about it so that we can move beyond what would tear the relationship apart. The issue of racial inequality has been one of the issues. The only thing that this election has proven is that there is still a great divide. This election has forced people to look in the mirror and face those long held beliefs and prejudices. No one wants to look in the mirror. They may not like what they see. It has always been there. It is just that now we are all being forced to look in the mirror. I am ready to help heal this nation. Barack Obama can help lead the way to that healing. With his mixed heritage, he help start it but it is up to each one of us to finish it. I am ready for change. Obama/Biden 2008!

Chickens have come to roost upon Nixon's Southern strategy. It is payback time for stoking and keeping alive the wickedness of the past with winks and codewords. I continue to revere Lyndon Johnson for turning his back on that past in full knowledge of the political consequences. He was an expert political player, but he chose to do the right thing. If only he had shown as much courage about Vietnam, his legacy would be very different. If only the republican leadership had been as courageous as Lyndon Johnson was, and this monster would have atrophied and died a natural death.

I cannot take much more of this. And now tonight we find out that Senator Obama's grandma is gravely ill. We don't know the details, but it sounds like it is the end for her. How sad that she may not make it to see him become POTUS. I admire his decision to take those days necessary to say goodbye to this wonderful woman who helped make him the good man that he is.
When you look at the two stories side by side, it makes you glad that you are on Obama's side doesn't it? Humanity compared to inhumanity. Love compared to hate. Promise compared to nothingness.
I am angry that they killed that bear, but more important is Obama's grandma is about to die.
I have to stay focused on the future and where we can get and not get overwhelmed by the stories of hate that are coming out every single day. It is hard, but we have to keep working and stay strong.
